False Awakenings

Hi all.

Just a curiosity more than anything else.

I've experienced a number of false awakenings the past week. Each one was kind of odd, i won't go into the details of them though. I've only had one full projection since I started (seriously) trying to leave my body. I also had a half OBE this morning - I had a kind of dual-consciousness thing going on, and was also half in, half out. More on that later.

Is this a sign that I'm sufficiently screwing up my subconscious (lol - I'm just kidding) to bring me closer to having conscious OBEs?

I've actually also considered the possibility that I may well have had some conscious OBEs already but didn't retain the memory of them. This only occurred to me because of a couple bizarre dreams I've had (aside from the false awakenings). But that's just an aside.

What is it with the False Awakenings?

Thanks in advance for any help and light shed on the subject.  :o

I would like to know more about this too. I have them all the time. sometimes I am lucid in these false awakening and keep trying to wake myself up. I have had as many as 8 consecutive and lucid false awakening. By the time I finally woke up I was almost in a PANIC!

lol. Sorry, I don't mean to laugh. I know it certainly is a strange state of affairs. No information offered on it yet though it seems...

I have noticed a relationship between false awakenings and OBE in that, when my OBE practice is strong, I have a lot of false awakenings. Personally, I  would say that false awakenings show you are on the right track, but do not necessarily mean you will be having an OBE soon.

This is an interesting subject, so I'll  bump it :)

I had a false awakening a three weeks back.

I got up to write my dreams as usual ... and when I finished... surprise, surprise, I woke up for real (at least I hope so:)).
But I was not conscious that it was a dream, I thought I was awake.
If it weren't for the last minute, nothing would get done.

Yeah.I've been having false awakenings ever since I began trying AP.

False awakenings are a kind of projection.  Just conjure up enough lucidity to realize what they are when they happen (so-called "Reality Checks" or someway to identify what consciousness you are exploring) and you can go from there.  I, too, have had several false awakenings lately...often to record dreams in my dream journal, only to "wake up" and have to write the details all over again. :)

I usually dont have any mundane false awakenings, all of mine are someone entering my room and asking me questions as I sit up in bed half asleep and then BAM I wake up and im sitting up in the same position and the lighting is the same but my consiousness is different and the person is gone.
