Do you believe the mind keeps going after death? In order to astral project you need to have your mind, but when you die your mind stops. So how can you have life after death? Unless perhaps you astral project right before you die or something?

Lol- I am not sure saving one's consciousness is really about projecting at just the right moment, but I could be proven wrong

I think it comes down to more of whether the mind is an independant entity from material existence (bodies, and the like), as to whether it is likely to survive the destruction of the body. The area of Philosophy where this particular question is discussed in very great depth is called the "Mind-Body Problem", and deals mainly with the idea of whether the world is composed of only matter (the prevailing doctrine which most scientists, without really considering alternatives, ascribe to), of both matter and mind (we have a body and a soul, like Cartesians and Western Religions believe), or simply only a mind, which is actually experiencing the world as a form of sustained thought (the position of many Eastern philosophies, and a few influential radicals today).

People who wrote extensively on this particular issue are Socrates, who gave a sublime lecture on why he felt his mind was going to survive his execution in "The Phaedo", Descartes, one of the most well recognized dualists, who gives his views on the subject in his "Meditations", and David Chalmers, in modern day, who forcefully rejects matierialsm in his work.

If you have any specific question, or would like to discuss any of this in depth, that would be fine

Hope This helps!

2432615184,

The same thoughts have crossed my mind and is really one of the driving forces in my desire to project lately. I just had my 4th OBE last night and I can't help but say that each time I get more and more control over the experience. I can also say that I am completely awake and aware of what's going on around me even though my body sleeps. None of this however proves to me that this is not a creation attached to my physical brain only or in other words none of this would be possible without it.

I have been reading about other people's experiences during projections and some of them claim to have communicated with lifeforms in the astral world who seem to be able to recall events before their physical death, and then these events were validated in the physical world. Although this does create a very strong "faith" or "belief system" for me, it's still an unknown. Most people report porfound changes in their life after experiencing this.

I think that the best way to know if to do what I plan to do which is continue crossing over each night and validating things one at a time, until the proof is overwhelming.

Also look at it this way. Consider that all that's happening is that your physical mind is somehow controlling some energy that can travel out of you body and experience things. This in and of itself is amazing and points toward a reality of energy and not matter.

Best Regards

David
