Ive never tried beats , ive done OBE 4 times  without it . But sometimes if it gets noisy Im thinking beats would be a good idea.

How loud should I have it ? Is it better really quiet or very loud

And do people actually have an OBE whilst its still playing? its a 30 min track , should I put it on repeat?

It takes about 6 minutes or so to entrain your brainwaves.  However most people like longer. Turn the sound down to a comfortable relaxing level.  However, you should still be able to hear the binaural beats.

Go ahead and loop it.  That way if you fall asleep maybe it will help you Lucid Dream. :-D

is it possible to loop a youtube video?

ajbbinauralbeats

Yes there are sites such as the one below which allow you to loop youtube videos.

Would they still work if you download the file from Youtube and rip the audio? I'd prefer to put them on my ipod so I can use them in bed, not by the computer, and I'm skeptical of mp3 downloads, from anywhere really... Thoughts?

Ripping them from youtube would definitely work! Just try to download HD quality whenever possible.

All of my MP3's, which you can find on my youtube in my signature, are 320kbs quality, and are fine to be downloaded from youtube.

You can use this site to rip them aswell. http://www.listentoyoutube.com/

Thanks, I'll try downloading them then... I might need a better ripping program because the audio doesn't always turn out ok unless I turn the volume down... Sometimes not even then... But I'll give it a go. I have a long list of BBs to try and yours are now on it  :-)

I understand, I have used that site before with no issues, but do as you please!

I once tried to use bbs when my husband was snoring, and it was not a good idea.  Very distracting, and the headphones aren't isolating.  So if I want to use them, I do it when it's quiet.  I like earplugs when it's noisy, but that's me.

Quiet enough that it isn't annoying, and loud enough that you can hear it.

Even though I read an entrainment time being quoted, I have to say that it depends on how relaxed you are.  If you are very stressed, it will take longer.  I think I recommend the loop, in my experience an hour is perfect.  But it depends on your schedule, of course.

They say 6 minutes to entrain.  However I think 10-15 min better.  An hour is great for those who can do it.
However 15 minutes is what most people can do meditation wise and time wise.

So the best advice is to do it for as long as you can.  As time goes on you will get better and better and find more time for it.

BlueLily, that site of DJ Vishnu's is safe. I haven't received any junk mail at all from there. I guess he wants you to log in just in case you try to take credit for his work. Then he would have a record of you being on his site. I really enjoy the Binauaral Beats of Paul Collier, since you are  enjoying beautiful music with the Binaural Beats hidden inside it. You can find his entire Playlist at YouTube.com under his name. Not all of his songs have Binaural Beats in them, but they all are very relaxing!  :-)
I used to see a number of people here that called these all shortcuts and said you can do it without them. My answer to them is, who cares what it takes you to get there. As long as you are successful. Sure they are "training wheels", but they work and that's all that's important. I still use them today almost everytime I Phase, I don't think I am breaking any rules though, because THERE ARE NONE!  :-)

Thank you Lionheart. I'm more worried about getting an infected file than spam to be honest (although the email requirement is a barrier, kinda), but good to know it didn't cause problems for you. I might try the shorter versions of them that are up on Youtube for free and if I like them, get the full versions from his site.

Any particular favourites by Paul Collier? I checked his list and there were so many! And I don't think I tried the right ones, they were a bit... odd. If there are nicer ones I'd be happy to try them though.

I used to agree with the criticism that we can do without BBs and want to be able to do it on our own so why use an artificial aid at all, but now I think as you do, that they're just training wheels. Nobody criticises children for using training wheels when learning to ride a bike, lol. If it works, it works - everything else is just preference. If this gets me there faster I'm happy to use them, I don't want to be purist and miss out. The only thing I don't like about them so far is that some of them give me a very distinctive headache and a very 'wrong' almost sickly feeling inside my head. Thankfully I've found some that don't, so I'm still experimenting to find ones I really like  :-)

I like this line-up in this order. 2012, De fragment your mind,  Song 54 Alpha-Delta, #41 Facing the Unknown and then #42 Taken up into the Sky. They are approximately 10 minutes each, so this should take you to about 50 minutes. It is a fantastic line-up because they each compliment each other. If you have a MP3 player that you can load these in order in a single playlist area it will work better. You don't want to be starting and stopping all the time.
Start by saying to yourself Relax, Release, Let Go, visualize the words floating into the darkness before your eyes. Then, do nothing, expect nothing, just lie there and notice the darkness before your eyes. Let yourself be in the music! That will all change soon!  :-)

Thank you! I will try that combination, hopefully it'll work as well for me as it does for you...

I've been getting interesting results much more consistently in the last few weeks with both my mantra meditation (self-made after reading that chapter of My Big TOE :) ) and binaural beats as well as other practices, it seems like I'm getting closer now... Nice to be 'getting somewhere' again, it's been a while.

Btw you have a very good way of encouraging people :) We need more of that in the world!

It's great when you finally get to see progress. No matter how small it may be. Baby steps count too. This is not a footrace, there is no place for frustration in the Astral/Wider Reality. We normally go there to get away from frustration and stress.
Thank you for your kind words!  :-)
