Hello all,

I would first like to state how helpful this site, as well as you regulars have been to my training and practice. I have been a long time reader, and have found many of the posts to be very helpful, inspiring, and informational.

I first discovered this topic about 4 years ago, but have had no real success with my practices. (which is partially due to my very tight schedule. I work hard and get home late. I usually go long periods without practice.)

well, anyways, I have decided that it is something that I most accomplish.
I am setting my heart and mind to it, and therefore I ask for any information you may have on the basics of the topic.
Binary beat or no? (I have always used it)
laying down or sitting?
what should I concentrate on?
what is an effective beginning technique?

Thanks so much everybody. I REALLY appreciate it.
I am because I think...

Hey KJack,

8 years ago, when I first started trying to have OBEs, I had all the same questions.

I have spent hundreds of dollars on books, CDs, DVDs, and of course, my biggest investments - a special mask with flashing lights and live workshops. My success has been quite limited - only a handful of successful OBEs, all during sleep by the way. The most precious resource I have used up has been time. I can honestly admit that I have spent a few thousand hours getting into deep trances in order to travel out of my body.

That has all changed now. I am now done with all those long sessions trying to get into the hypnogogic state. That's tantamount to going in the "front" door. Instead I am now going in the "back" door. The back door entrance is available during sleep. All you have to do is program your subconscious mind to wake up during sleep, once or several times, and then focus intently on your breathing, in and out, as you fall back asleep. Within 3 - 10 seconds your body should fall asleep while your mind stays awake. From that hypnogogic state, initiate the Vehram Energy System. I started a whole thread on it - read and enjoy...

This is my first post but I have been having intense OBE's since 1998. I had a bad accident when I was a kid and I have had horrible vivid dreams ever since. In 1998 I was living with my brother in Minnesota and went to bed early one night because I felt a little sick. I remember lying there and shaking (or vibrating). I had no clue what was going on and I was very scared. The next thing I new I was laying on the floor but it didn't look like my floor. I was actually face first to the ceiling. I was scared to death and decided to look down and saw my body...I instantly jerked back into my body and ran into the other room to tell my brother what happened. He said he read a book about OBE's by someone named Robert Bruce. He Lent me the book and I have been able to have an OBE whenever and wherever I want to ever since.

I think people overthink the process of having an OBE. Just believe in what your doing and put your body in a completely rexaled state. The key is "Believe" that it can happen. Even if you think it will happen the doubt will stop you most of the time.

The way I do it is lay down on the couch or floor, not on the bed, and just relax. Its best to be fully awake. Just tell yourself over and over again while relaxing your entire body "I am going to have an OBE". Relax every muscle in your body, especially your feet and neck. There are a ton of different exit strategies...I use the "sinking into the water" strategy or the "pulling myself out with a rope" strategy. They both work the same for me.

I can let you in on some really secret techniques...Just IM me. I happen to be a natural but I have told my secrets to a few people and they worked just about every time.

Don't worry, I am not trying to sell anything or talk you into joining something I just don't want to share my secrets with everyone openly.

Again, you have to truly believe that you can leave your body. Once have the experience it will be easier and easier every time.

Hey jestershaw,

I will certainly PM you to get some of your secrets. I'm always open to listening to a "natural."

Hello all,
Howdy KJack.
As usual, I'll answer with what works for me.

QuoteBinary beat or no? (I have always used it)
Occasionally, not for the 'expected result', but for the relaxation it offers.
Quotelaying down or sitting?
Recliner for me, in a quiet part of the house.
Quotewhat should I concentrate on?
Nothing.  That is, focus on what's in front of your eyes, but don't 'concentrate'.  If you get too much verbal chatter,   then look at the pretty colors in front of you, or try to cause them to be, to move, etc.  Use breathing or energy work to distract you, but don't make it the focus of the session, and finally, listen to your earhiss.  That's the best one for me so far.  It 'synchs' you up to another frequency or something.
Quotewhat is an effective beginning technique?
Relax, breathe, and relax again.  Once you're deeply relaxed, go into noticing and then if you can stay awake and can perceive a change of state, try an exit technique.

QuoteThanks so much everybody. I REALLY appreciate it.
You're welcome, I hope it helps.

Thank you so much everybody. I will keep all of your suggestions in mind during my next session of practice.
One last question though: how do you feel about a dream journal?

P.S. Hello Don,
you probably don't remember me, but I was a member on your site under the same user name.

Hey KJack,

Yes, I remember your name from AstralSource, cool.

A dream journal is an excellent idea. I currently use an electronic digital recording device. It's small and sits right beside my bed. No light to turn on or need to write anything down. The important thing about a dream journal is that the more you record your dreams, the more often you remember your dreams, and OBEs too!
