OBEs from false awakenings

I haven't posted anything in a while... Mostly because I've been adjusting to now living in China and the wedding here (It went great!) I've still been trying to keep up with my dream journal and recording my OBES. I have been noticing a few patterns I want to make note of...

1. I haven't had a successful OBE in the evening or laying down before sleeping.

2. I have only been able to successfully exit my body after trying after waking.

3. I think I have only been exiting by body through very realistic false awakenings.

Why do I think this? Well, false awakenings are not uncommon for me. I wake up several times before  actually wake up. Chances are some of these are real periodic awakenings, some are not. Sometimes I am able to discover this while in the false awakening, sometimes I fully believe I am awake. However, I am usually completely conscious and have all of my thoughts. Perhaps this is why I am able to OBE from there. There's no way to tell for sure if all of my OBEs have occurred this way... But for instance, this morning I did one of my periodic awakenings, (believing I was awake), OBEd, Woke up and I was on another side of the bed. I asked my husband how I got there and he shrugged, watching his video on his computer (he had been doing that all morning). I OBEd again and then ended up in the actual waking world where I had initially fallen asleep. In these false awakenings sometimes people have visited, I've gone up to use the bathroom and the bathroom door led somewhere completely different, strangers in the house, you name it. Weird eh? Oh, and when I figure out it is a false awakening I don't usually wake up unless I want to.

I'm wondering anyone's thoughts. I personally don't think this discredits my OBE experiences, but I wont lie that it puts a little bit of a damper on it. But who cares HOW you get there. It's the experience that matters.

False Awakenings still happen in the NPR!

So if your goal is be in a non physical reality and consciously recall it, then I would say you have been successful!  :-)

Why would this put a damper on it?

Hi,
A big move over and I hope you're settled now.
I had a false awakening late December and couldn't tell the difference from physical reality. There was some erroneous details but I never realised this till later, doh.
It was the first in decades as far ad Im aware. I like thw fact you get them often and doors leading to who knows where sound  fascinating.
I wonder if there's anything thats obvious you find upon waking in this position.
I'd guess you planned nothing as they sound totally random, unless you try an exit earlier.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

I also get false awakenings quite often but as a personal preference I have never attempted a obe while in one. I always had the feeling that it could cause to many layers stacked on top of one another but now that I hear it can be done I think ill explore it further. Thanks for the info, and congrats!

You are already there!  :-)

You are already experiencing the non physical reality.

Why not try to experiment while in a False Awakening, instead of trying to leave something you are already out of?

I have attempted all over the place in hopes that my conscious thinking and trying I will do it automatically. I've only just noticed my success upon awakening and trying. Wondered if I was seeing a pattern that all my exits have corresponded with false awakenings. I know it doesn't discredit them at all, but I can't help but look at the while awake and aware exit with a wee bit of longing, hehe. What I find a little frustrating is that even if I am aware of everything, the clarity is usually pretty bad. I've done the shouting clarity thing before and it helped, but I got excited and it ended. Oh, sometimes I lose vision completely in one eye. It was weird.

Just know that this all gets better with practice. You are doing great, so don't put too much pressure on yourself!  :-)

Here is a fun way to keep focus and improve your awareness.

I only haven't because I still have trouble awakening from that many levels. I am practicing on pulling myself out consistently. But I always try and play it safe because I have gotten careless with how deep I have gone in the past prefer to not do that again without guidance  :-P

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand this. :?

Could you elaborate a bit more on what you mean here, please?

Before I'd start I'd like to point out that I'm new to discussing this with people so my terminology is a bit nieve but I will do my best.
Well, when I project most of the time I have three to five plots layered in one session on top of eachother, like a cake. But every time I go into a deeper layer (false awakening) each layer becomes more vivid and yet pliable. At this point it becomes harder to react to the triggers I set to pull myself out. At one point I got lost and it was quite the experience trying too find my way back too my body.

Very interesting!

Normally all you need is the just the thought of your physical body, to return back to this waking reality.

You must be so deep and involved in your experience that you don't have the abiltiy to change focus back to this reality. But you should know that no matter how deep you may be, you will always return back to this reality unless of course your physical shell has perished.

I find your "layers" conversation to be very interesting. Could you Please continue this conversation in a new thread, as not to hijack the current one.

Thank You! :-)
