Title: Poll: Memory recall of Astral experiences
Post by: Lysear on October 27, 2002, 11:16:00
for me the prob wasnt recall but determining if it was a dream or projection. i have had 2 semi-concious projections, well it was either that or 2 dreams.

Some believe that we project several times every night. If true, then most projections I do not remember at all.

The projections that I try to initiate consciously, I probably remember easily half to 75% of the experience. Possibly more.

my concerns lie more in the realm of degree of conscious awareness, which can lead to problems like the ones Lysear mentions.

Hi Patty....

I also put 75% for my vote.  Surprise surprise.  Basically, I can remember a lot of detail, but I have had trouble trying to remember word for wrod conversations, and anything I happen to read.

Also, if I project to a couple different locations, I sometimes forget which order they occured in.

Adrian,
Patty's post about sums it up for me.  While I've always been able to recall my dreams vividly, as well as most Projections ... I have noticed that the higher the degree of Mental Clarity (conscious awareness) during a Projection, the higher the recall rate.  My best Projections to date, were the initial TWO that occured from a W.I.L.D. that happened from an accidental phasing from the awake state.  I ended up fully conscious in the "body asleep mind awake" state.

All my other projections have occured from sleeping states at night time, both spontaneous and intended projections.  These tend to have less quality to them in the area of clarity, focus and recall.

Cheers!

Hi Adrian

My vote was for 75%. This reflects conscious attempts to project, not things done in my sleep. It would probably be higher, but keeping my awareness in the projection is still a little rough. It will get sidetracked, and come back into my physical body/thought process, but I can pick up the projection with an awareness shift again.

Just as a note, my mother maintains full recall of her intended projections, and the majority of the unintended ones. I have been encouraging her to join the forums. She is one of those naturals, and was very surprised when she learned how many people have to work at it. For years, she just picked a destination before going to sleep, and then would do it. After talking to her, she is working on conscious exit projection, which she nailed on her first try.

Funny how much you learn about your family.

Take care, all

Hehe, all I gotta say is "Get her a computer and have her start posting here!"

The same way you do in real life!  You aren't forgetting the event, but the details of the event.  It's like being drunk at a party.  You remember talking to some girl, but you have no idea what you both talked about!

I remember about 75% of my one and only OBE.

Things started to get foggy towards the end, and I think a little of the Alice factor started creeping into it.

Still awaiting number 2 (patiently, or at least I keep saying that)!

I can remember every single detail of my 4 OBE's.
Frustratingly though, they have seemed so natural and easy at the time that I had hoped to be able to repeat them, but I cannot induce them consciously.
Only way they have happened to me is my wishing to before I sleep and hoping that this will be the time.

When I first projected, recall wasn't a problem at alll. The more I do it, the more difficult it becomes. I tend to forget conversations virtually immediately.

The main problem with memory is that although I remember places I have been to, I never have any idea of the sequence of events taking place; it just becomes this giant chaotic jumble of images.  Very frustrating.

I also would have to put it at about 75%- better on ones with good mental clarity and worse on those that head into the dream catagory. On my most interseting one I could see there would be a problem with understanding other realms due to going beyond what we have words for.

I remember about 75% of my OBEs with quite interesting detail.  However, there are segments of the experiencing missing at times, or I end up falling into a dream state.  75% isn't bad.  How many can recall in the physcial, not astral the experience of a day past?  Odds are you won't remember 100%.

I chose fragmentary due to the fact that I often wake up knowing only little bits of what happened - - - including vibrations, exit, and/or reentry, but not remembering anything else of substance.

A few of my OBEs I remember 100%.   Unfortunately they were mighty stressful!    I'm still yearning for the day it happens and I act all cool like Fonzie.  Heh.

I also put 75%
My first OBE (concious exit when napping) would be 100% but I was only out for a couple of minutes before conciously willing to go back to body.
Since then it has became more difficult, not easier to project and I seem to actually be thown back into body with 75% memories rather than conciously wishing to go back. It seems that I'm on the end of a tight elastic band that I'm constantly struggling with. I suppose if I am totally free and actually wish to go back to body I can then prepare myself for remembering the experience. When I am forced back to body I'm that annoyed at what's happened that I begin to forget the small details of the experience.

The only times I've achieved the astral have been when I've become aware of being out of my body during a dream. These episodes I have perfect memory of, unlike ordinary dreams which I usually never remember.  I've never achieved the astral on purpose from a waking state and so don't know if I'd remember this type or not.

Full recall.  I have a 'trick' to it.

I write it down the second I get back in, or else the finer details will fade after a few days. I sleep with a notebook and pen next to me.

I never wonder whether or not it was a dream. It's always very "real." Undeniably so. Just as real as typing at this computer.

I think the people who get confused and can't tell the difference are having lucid dreams.

Hard poll id say!
I picked the 100% recall, cause when i have a conscious obe, thats exactly what it is.
The only times i stuff up, is when im in a dream, and dont use logic, that i miss the opportunity.
I had an obe a while ago, where i returned to my body and was awake in real time, without any waking inbetween.  Was one action.
What percentage do you call that?
I have made inquiry into anyone else that may have encountered this, to no avail.
Thanks
Paola

Greeetings everyone!

By far one of the biggest potential problems associated with "OBE" is remembering the details afterwards, i.e. after reintegrating body and Soul.

Books such as Astral Dynamics highlight this problem, and offer excellent advice as to how to overcome it.

But yet, many people say that have no problems with memory recall of Astral experiences whatsoever.

I would like to try and narrow this down to types of Astral experience, but before I do that, I would appreciate it is people here who do have regular Astral experiences could indicate level of memory recall in this anonymous poll:

Please feel free to add your comments and observations to this poll, and in particular method of OBE used to obtain your memory recollection level.

The question is:

How much of an Astral experience lasting for a significant time can you remember upon return to your physical body:
