Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has experienced seeing his/her own projected double in an Astral Projectioin/OBE attempt?
6 years ago in an attempt to perform astral projection for the first time, i felt my body getting heavier and heavier and had a feeling as though i was sinking into my bed.... then suddenly as if my third eye opened. i started to see through the fog eventhough my eyes were closed.... and even with my eyes opened i started seeing a green misty figure floating and hovering ontop of my own physical body. I was fully awake at this point and was conscious...though my physical body might have been paralysed..... At first i did not know what to think except i know that the green mist resembles a figure... then the next night i tried the same thing again and each night i started to make out more of this thing i was seeing until one day i was positive because i started noticing the facial figures like the nose, eyes, lips...etc at first it really freaked me out and i did not know what to think.... this was before i read Astral Dynamics by robert bruce... so i just forced myself to sleep and tried to forget about what happened.... but after reading his book. it started to make mroe sense to me and now i believe that what i was seeing was most likely my projected double.... as shown from the astral projection timeline diagram.... a figure facing directly down ontop of the physical body.
Has anyone experienced the same thing i have? And what color was their projected double? I'm very curious as to why i saw my own projected double since most people are not even fully awake or conscious when they get to this state..... as well as the color of my projected double.
Anyway... hope to hear from you guys soon.
hello nyguil, welcome to the forums :-D
I've seen my "double" a few times... It was always blurry and always cuddled up between sheets and pillows :-D
All the best
Welcome nyguil!
I've seen my full body double once, very quick but I used to play with my arms all the time. I look like I'm full of stars or something, very cool looking. :)
Uhm..... it should not be possible to see ones projected self.
The conciousness and sight etc. always stays with you. So if you project you might see your physical body, but no way you see your projected self from your physical body. (Note: You might see your arms or legs if your in the process of seperating). Its probably something else.
Just think about it for a while. If your conciousness stays in your physical body while your etheric body is projecting and left the physical body...... what on earth is controlling the etheric body?
Its not possible....
I have no idea what you would call it but I used to play with my arms all the time while seperated but hovering just over my physical and I did see my "double" for a split second headed out my bedroom door.. I was seeing it from both angles.
Call it what you want or not want to. It doesn't take away anything from the experience. :)
Mydral, consciousness can be split ; it is not exclusive to just one "body." See Robert Bruce's mind split, for example...

I don't need to see it (well I will when I find it).....
If you split your consciousness your screwed in my opinion. You practically lost the other half to something which is controlling it now.
There is only one "I", there cannot be two. The idea is absurd.
Conciousness is exclusive to one body, or you would feel yourself in two places at the same time. Since this is not the case with your experiences the thing your seeing is not another part of your conciousness.
Another explanation would be that you created a beeing after your image, but that wouldn't be "you".... think of cells splitting.
There is a major logic flaw in this concious split thingy:
If you really split it, and both parts are "you", why are you only aware of one part and not both at the same time?
Mydral,
With respect, you should read Robert Bruce's explanation on mind split. You are being a little closed-minded here. It's perfectly possible (in theory at least) to have multiple copies of consciousness operating at the same time. And yes, you can be aware of yourself simultaneoulsy in two or more "bodies" operating simultaneously. There are a few examples of this in the literature. Robert Bruce gives his own account of this very experience, but I have seen others say the same thing, ie awareness of multiple 'I's all operating at the same time. It's weird I know, but then this whole subject requires an open mindset.

Yes, that's exactly what happens, you feel yourself in two places at once.
I have the "two-of-me" experience quite often, where I experience (and sometimes move) my physical body, as well as being/seeing somewhere else at the same time. You would think it's complicated and confusing, but I actually prefer this. I feel I have more control and freedom during these moments.
To add, I also have experienced being in two minds/places at the same time. And three once. And just as Stookie says, it felt perfectly natural and normal to me at the time. A complete doddle! :-)

Well yeah I experienced that too once, I felt my physical body while beeing in a different body..... it happens right before waking up or leaving a dream at which point I try to remain motionless so I don't wake up.
I said that it would be the only possible way to have this "mind-split" (maybe I wasn't clear on that).
But what was originaly described here was not that..... it clearly said that he saw himself above him while he only had his concious in his physical self. He was wide awake. If you notice thats a big difference towards feeling yourself at two places at once.
Hi Mydral
Robert Bruce describes the exact same thing in the chapter on Mind Split in his book. He describes a projection in which part of his consciousness was in his physical body sitting in a chair, and another part of his consciousness was in the projected double. The "physical" consciousness was able to see the double as it drifted down through the ceiling and the "astral" consciousness was able to see the physical body sitting in the chair as it drifted down through the roof. He was aware of both viewpoints at the same time. Bruce describes how the mind splits in this way and it is important for the projected "astral" memories to get downloaded back into the physical brain in order to really remember the experience. Otherwise all we remember is what our "physical" consciousness experienced. If you get hold of a copy of the book, please do read this chapter. This one chapter on "Mind Split" is worth the price of the whole book.
Robert Bruce has some great ideas, but I wouldn't call it the definitive answer in any way. He creates rules saying "you can do this, but you can't do that..."
Rules = Limitations
My experiences didn't open up (especially the mind-split thing) until I dropped all rules and expectations of what I can and can't experience. I think that everyones perspective and experience of the astral varies so much that it's impossible to say what can & can't be done. If you want to see you projected double from your physical body, go for it. If you want to see it from a second or third projected body, go for it. If you want to have a tea party with 8 projected selves... don't let anyone tell you you can't.
Yeh I agree some of Rb's ideas are great, but other things he says do puzzle me like his statement that people who are blind from birth can't "see" whilst OBE. Never understood that one...
Something like this actually happened in my last projection! I was getting up from my bed to wander when open my sight and see myself getting up before me as I am getting up... it was weird...I understood it as myself but i was conscious watching my astral body get up from behind and I followed it/myself down the hall until at last we were joined as one/I was consciously in my astral self. How bout that? :-o
Very interesting thread here fellas... I have an experience to share..
I left my body in class one day and had one goal in mind... and that is not rated PG-13 so I'll leave it out .. My astral self was in the school gym and my physical body was in the classroom. As I was doing something interesting in the gym with my astral self ,I started to become aware of a noise from somewhere I couldnt exactly pinpoint... As I focused more on this noise I figured out where it was coming from.. and the more I focused on it , the more aware of my physical body I became... until the point where I was both aware of my physical body sitting upright in my schooldesk and the astral body in the gym. The noise was coming from my throat.. It seems as though my physical body was trying to make a grunting noise.. It was quite odd to be aware of both bodies at the same time.. As far as splitting into a third body and being aware of all three???? Well... I don't know what I think about that.. I certainly would not limit myself into believing it's not possible though.
Peace out everyone!
haha! No luck eh? Bummer.. Once I was stuck in between at that damn paralysis state! and I was doing everything to move something and I tried screaming but could only get a little ughh...outta my body..Kinda weird, and often I can feel myself lying down as I am walking around. I think it's because We want to remember we are dreaming so we remain conscious...however it triggers that part of ourselves associated with our bodies, hence that split..so weird!
I don't want to steal this thread with my introduction, but I've been lurking long enough and my one OBE relates to this topic.
Well, I was 17 (now 29) and had stayed up really late doing homework. I really needed to finish, but not as much as I needed sleep, so I told myself I was only going to take a 5-10 minute nap. As soon as I closed my eyes I felt the vibrations which before reading up on what they were had always scared the cr*p out of me and I would fight off. Now that I had an idea of what they were, I let them continue - radiating from my solar plexus. They reached a high level and I popped out through my solar plexus and was hovering above my body. It took me a moment to realize what had happened and once I knew what was going on I was surprised at how familiar it felt. All I could think about was "I wonder what I look like" - the projected hovering self. After wondering this for just a couple seconds, I saw my hovering self from another point in my room. I had no preconcieved ideas of what I would look like. From a point a few feet from my body I saw my projected self as a grapefruit-size orb of glowing white/light blue light. I thought that was pretty cool. Then, I started to become aware of my body again and thought I would try to force my physical eyes open to see my projected self, and well that of course ended the experience - but it seemed to be winding down anyway as I had never made it out before.
In regards to this topic, I guess I had 3 projected selfs - my physical body, my projected glowing orb and the self viewing the orb. Only at one point was my consciousness split - when I was transitioning back to my body and I was aware of both my body and third perspective (self viewing projected orb self).

Very cool! This sounds somewhat like my experience of viewing the astral body from another point on that plane. It's a bit eerie when you thinkg about it... viewing your energy body from yet another point..maybe another body of self even?? who knows..i Give up! lol
