I have heard of these things and I am yet to have a successful OOBE. A few questions: What exactly are they? Who or what is in charge of appointing them? What kind of advancement/reward is given for solving/completing them? Does solving/completing them make it easier to remember the OOBE or make it easier to have an OOBE? Thank you for your responses.  :-D

You will have to experience it to find out. Otherwise you will have no way to reference what we/I are saying!  :-)

I don't wish to sound egotistical or pompous by this, just truthful!

I guess Lionheart is absolutely right. That is the best method to learn everything very deeply.

I'll put it another way.
In life almost everyone follows a similar path. What gets learned along it, is kept in order to survive. We learn, we grow.
Non Physical Environments are also similar to this while learning the art. The rules are different. As you progress further into yourself, this similarity shows itself less and less. Eventually you just become one.
The initial stages as a newbie you learn the physics of functionality. How to move, read others with a thought and basic control of the internal 'you' from the physical world.
You'll also gain an understanding of how thing work as you learn. Thats common sense per se. After a while you will meet other entities and its your interaction and acceptance that comes into question.
A grouping effect seems to dominate the varied locations at first. A personality match of sorts. Its almost an ordered and organised place.
To a point its a frequency of vibration that you fit into. Dependant upon your WORST interaction is where you exist on this vibratory scale.
The aim is to reach as high as possible so your inherent pleasantries are in order allowing you a better experience.
A nasty guy will meet nasty guys and thats his limit. A compassionate and careing guy will be with those of a similar mindset.
Not sure why. Its an impression you will percieve while learning.

The quests etc.
These are a part of elimination of your worst attributes. The things that the 'you' have become from earthly experiences. The bad points from an NP perspective. These may seem almost pointless from a physical perspective but they are massively important from the NP side.
You win the test a few times and more things appear at your disposal.
The whole scenario is so similar to a computer game its unbelievable.
You are out in the non physical and meet someone doing whatever. They ARE in your way. A typical test.
A similar physical situation is the bridge. ' Halt, who goes there, answer my question and cross', (Monty Python Sketch).
After many of these you are ready with a great deal more experience and things seem to get bigger.
You find yourself in a predicament, again this is nothing to do with your intended destination. You simply find yourself at a point within a setting and you have to work out what to do by simply being yourself. The scene can get complex to the point where you're pushed beyond your physical limit.
You are... but youre non physical and gaining the realisation of this is paramount. Fail and die. Ok, wake up with that wow feeling. You'll get another go soon. (The starting scene from Cliffhanger, not nice)
The retrievals are different. These start off on a one to one level and are mostly thought based. You convince the entity of the truth and take them or allow someone access to them, it depends on the setting.
These progress too. You could be the only hope of success for a city of 100,000. Thats a challenge, or worse still have a massive task of constructing a device with unknown technology in an unknown location with everything trying to destroy your attempts. Then after completely annihilating the infestation you watch your work do its job only to forget one tiny thing. Still passed though, the lesson for forgetting you never forget.
Each time you are gaining a position higher in the frequency scale.
Its hard to describe this in a few words.
There's nothing like it. You are there and this physical world you are in is DEAD by comparison.
A reasonable summary.

There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

I couldn't find the words to explain it, but you did an excellent job Szaxx with that Summary.  :-)

I think this will give the OP more questions than answers though. It really does have to be experienced to understand it and then still it gives you more questions than answers. I don't think we will ever understand it totally because it is so different from this reality here. Mostly I mean that because of our limitations here in this physical body and the law of physics on this plain of existence.

The one thing we do learn there is to follow the path we pave. To open ourselves up totally to learn and experience. But first we have to confront ALL of our fears, before we are allowed to move on!
