Title: Resistence when trying to have an OBE
Post by: Neverkiiro on September 13, 2014, 14:53:08
Lately, almost every time I try to have an OBE, I end up getting lost in the sounds and daydreams that randomly swarm over me, and I find myself waking from them, lying on my back, and I just feel so uncomfortable and want to turn on my side. It's.. painful. I want to give up and I don't. So I try not to, but then I do. What helps temporarily is when I sort of sift my consciousness to busily imagining something, a state that feels less-awake but I don't tend to keep this up. Has anyone else experienced this, and have they found a solution?

And does anyone have a sort of word or sound I can use that best resists those pre-dream voices and scenarios? I've tried Chair, Her,.. and after my latest attempt half an hour ago it sort of feels like "glug" might be the easiest to repeat in my head, constantly while resisting the imagery. The technique I'm using to enter a state in which I can OBE involves repeating a word in my head. But, I still get lostin the swarms. Sometimes I'm not even lying down and I get lost in the pre-dreams. I can be searching for something under my bed, with the lights out, and bam, senseless thoughts. I guess it's harder for me than others to resist them.

Hi there!

First, there are no rules which state you MUST be lying on your back to project.  Lie down, sit down, recline... the only pre-requisite is that you're COMFORTABLE.  :)

Secondly, read these articles I wrote on a technique called a "Mental Rundown":
http://unlimitedboundaries.ca/2010/09/06/phasing-method-mental-rundowns/
http://unlimitedboundaries.ca/2010/09/17/phasing-mental-rundown-in-greater-detail/

Third, if you're looking for a mantra... try to use non-sense words/sounds.
Tom Campbell explains this perfectly here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xE9S4ll1j4s

Let me know if you have any other questions.  :)

I've been trying Mantras but read this today if you haven't already.

Also as I said before your focus is not on what you need to be focused on. If your paying attention to anything other than going deeper within your going to stick. It cannot waver and nothing else can enter your mind. Also if you tense up while your doing this it will stall you. It's a difficult thing to learn to manage but once you do you can do it anywhere and just about any time. I don't lay down when working or if I do I have to lay on my side. Xanth has also explained the mantra that can be used to teach you to focus. I would practice that for awhile.
