Scientific or Spiritual

I feel belief systems have a large amount to do with the Out of Body State.

I want to address a topic that I found useful when learning how to Project.

Which do you hold most of your belief systems to?

Scientific or Spiritual?

Why is that important?

If you are more inclined toward Science, then it is the Out of Body Experience.
If you are more inclined toward Spirituality then it is Astral Projection.

Knowing what you believe more, will ease you into the transition of learning how to go out of body.

If you are spiritual, and are taught Robert Monroe or Frank Kepple techniques and theory,
then you are putting more pressure against yourself into not only learning it,
but subconsciously accepting it
and opening your mind to it.

It would be more appropriate to say to a Spiritual person;
You should start by reading Robert Bruce's Astral Dynamics and his New Energy Ways.
The subject is more comfortable and easily related to a spiritual person.

On the opposite side.

Tell a Scientific person to learn Robert Bruce,
it will make it difficult to relate Chakras and third eyes to a person of this stature,
when he/she doesn't believe it.

Then throw in Robert Monroe, who documented his research and has a more scientific terminology and method,
and you will accelerate the process of learning that much more

The effort therefore would be much greater if you "went against the grain" so to say.

Additionally, if you find yourself falling through the cracks like I did, and you are open minded to both, all you can do is blindfold yourself and choose one!!

Interesting, I kinda don't fall into anything. I guess you could say I fall more into the scientific because I base everything on unbiased observation though. My goal is to read every book on the subject and then pull from the knowledge I have gained when needed and then go forth experimenting and forming my own conclusions.

I think of myself as a person standing between a spiritual person and and scientific person. We are all staring at this sick person who is suddenly not sick anymore and no body really knows why. The scientist says it's medicine, the spiritual person says it's a miracle and I just say I don't know but I observed that he got better.

I think that a person will never truly be free until they get rid of all belief systems. Just my opinion, I may be totally wrong :)

I believe in both and I experience both.  However, it seems that when I'm more emotional, I tend to have astral projections.  Also, it depends on how deep of a sleep state that I'm in.  When I'm in a deeper state I tend to astral project and when I'm in a lighter state I tend to just have an out of body or etheral experience.

Belief systems do play a role, as far as, your approach to AP is concerned.

But I don't think any particular belief will aid in AP. There are hardcore skeptics, who refuse to entertain this subject, and who reject everything as hallucinations .... on the one hand, and on the other there are gullibles, who accept anything thats written in the new age books or on the web and almost delude themselves into believing that every other dream they have is an AP.

And there are people who fall in between these two extremes. However I'm yet to see any evidence of beliefs acting as a catalyst for AP.

What actually helps is, assuming that its a sort of game or an experiment, of which no one knows anything, all they can say are speculations, keeping an unbiased open minded view. A curiosity, a passion to find out what is real, what is true.

It helps to blindly follow the methods initially, and to try out stuff without questioning, who knows what will work.... But do not have any opinions about anything initially. I do this, I get this, now lets go further and try this..... so you progress.

Personally, I utilize the more spiritual teachings when it comes to astral projection. I love Robert Bruce's books and teachings as they have helped me dramatically to achieve a more spiritual life which in turn aids all aspects of life.

I think that the scientific point of view can sort of hinder the experience due to the fact that you are constantly trying to empirically observe this experience and this sort of thing just simply can't be observed empirically. The experiences must be questioned but not as fine-toothed as scientists of our society demand.

The scientific way of thinking can also dramatically increase doubt in these sort of things because if things don't go according to plan you may automatically assume that these things are false. The spiritual way of thinking keeps the childlike joy alive and allows a person to not question everything that occurs when certain things like this are just not meant to be questioned.

I respectfully disagree with your opinion here. I feel that everything whether it be physical, spiritual or scientific should always be questioned. Let's be honest here, in order for you to come to the conclusion that "The spiritual way of thinking keeps the childlike joy alive", you had to question what keeps the joys alive.
