Hello,
first of all I'd like to thank the responsible of this forum ,its very helpful reading through the posts

I'd like to share my experience and in return i would like to ask for any professional help on the topic

ever since i was young I've had dreams of flying consciously and most of the times it would be extremely short and I'd wake up upon landing ( rough ) ,though i never knew what it meant it always seemed fun ,another note is that I've been practicing short meditation 15-20 per day for years now for as long as i can remember and recently I've read 3 books on OBE and how to induce them ,the procedure looks fine to me and I've been practicing on the steps ,i must admit that through the nights and mornings I've realized a progression in reaching the " relaxed " phase maybe due to the meditation use ,but my problem is this:
( and keep in mind that i have no fear of OBE whatsoever )
today in the morning i woke up without moving i decided its a good time to practice ,went through the common steps of breathing and relaxing the muscles and i reached the state of " stillness on mind " if i may call it and i felt heaviness in the body and a soft vibration in my legs in particular but for some reason i could not follow it or control it to make it denser ,i had a clear mind and no thoughts were going in my head i focused on the procedure ( like the times before ) but i simply could not make these vibrations stronger ,with patience i took a 5 minute brake and lied back in bed to give it another slow and patient try ,again the vibrations and all but no use ,i seem to feel them ,but i cannot control the flow . and i want to know : 1 . is this close ? , 2. how can i improve it . 3 . the night before i had smoked ,does smoking affect obe? .
any help would be appreciated i spent the entire morning sending this very same post everywhere for an answer with no replies :(
thank you

Hi medeos

I also used to dream of flying when I was young, and the dreams seemed very lifelike.

It's good that you have been relaxing for so long – this will really help.

May I suggest that you don't focus on the vibrations?  Don't try to make them stronger.  Trying won't help at all.  Instead, focus on what's going on inside your mind.  Lose all mental awareness of your body (even if you can still feel it physically).

And then relax some more.  I find that when I'm very relaxed, and I get the impression that I'm going to project (some part of my body feels like liquid – normally my arms), I know that I have to relax even more "into the liquid" to become the liquid.  And while I'm doing this, I'm mentally encouraging myself to project, saying internally "hmmm, this is SO relaxing, I think I'll melt into the sensation".  And I go limp.

It sounds like you are very close.   :)

Vibrations are not the be all and end all of projecting – I don't get them.  It's a very smooth transition for me.

Good luck and let us know how you get on!

i have no idea how to say thanks :)
seriously though ,the whole morning i was dazzled about this issue i realize now I've been focusing wrongfully too much on the " vibrating " feeling

ill try to fall deeper into relaxation and well see what happens from there .

i don't know who you are Sarah but I'm thankful for your post , if all and all works fine ,this forum will be the place where i post my first OBE

again thanks and i hope your experiences are filled with joy ;)

I feel like I'm in the same boat.  I know the vibrations that you're talking about. For me, they are early signs of coming to Focus 10 (mind awake, body asleep), but if I focus on them, no focus 10. Or I suck myself out of focus 10 if I was there. I don't know if you've read about Frank's phasing, but creating a rundown is what I'm trying now to get through that stage.

On several occasions I've also experienced "high voltage"-type vibrations that are to me, without a doubt the vibrations experienced for OBE. I feel a "wobbling" of my body inside the vibrations. However, they are so intense, I can't seem to get used to it.

One thing that I keep in mind: Of the few successful experiences I've had, I was never "trying" to do anything. It was like I fell asleep, and then BOOM! I guess it's like zen - it's a kind of "non-trying".

Hello medeos and welcome to the forum.

The question you post is a very common one. Check out my suggestion from the Astral FAQ:

well I'm happy to read your replies ,

all 3 of u :P ,kodemaster I'd like to say that i don't meditate+attempt AP in the same time rather meditate a few minutes before i go to bed and start .

but your link was good as well  in fact any info on such matter is good

stookie i don't recall any High voltage or such vibrations but ever since the post until now i must say that the more i "let go" ( thanks Sarah ) the more these vibrations prove their existence stronger than the one before

one last question I'd like to ask , can smoking ( normal cigs ) prevent the process ? I'm a very light smoker yet I'm a bit skeptical about the combination of a day of smoking and an attempt ,it just doesn't sound healthy/right , anyone here is a smoker ?

thanks again all :)

be safe

I know that Robert Monroe smoked most of his life, I believe until he died. He says he did healing exercises on his lungs to counter the negative effects, and even created a hemi-sync tape for this. As in some of my other recent posts, I don't remember where I read this, but I know I did.

However, I'm sure the will-power developed when quitting smoking can help astral projection, among other things.
