While meditating before bed. Got the usual colors, random geometric shapes, swirling darkness and the BAM giant Grey alien head right in front of me with this loud ominous low note organ sound...didn't freak although it did startle me at first. Alien had deep black eyes but the skin reminded me more of carbon fiber material. No conversation, no real interaction other than a staring contest for what seemed like two or three minutes. I put forth a few questions but it never responded that I recall. Anyway, seemed very strange and I expect many more strange things to come as I progress. Just reaching out to see if this is possibly a common theme or encounter among those of you here.

Typical, I rarely see a head of any kind. It's usually a car moving at speed directly towards me and the reaction is to jump. If you do, you wake, if you don't it hits you and you jump anyway.
The trick is to be ready for anything that comes no matter what. These mini dreams as I called them are the last stop. The final one develops with sight and sounds synchronised then envelops you. You are within the environment and out of the physical. The experience has begun.

Close you ask? You couldn't get much closer  :-D

how long do you meditate, and how often? also, what method do you use in order to have these experiences? I used to meditate every day for a few years, then stopped. it was vipassana method by following my breath, with eyes closed next to a candle. now I got back into it, and meditate almost every night with a Samatha method staring at a candle's flame.

I've yet to define my method for meditation but i'll try and describe what I do at least and I've only just recently started to seriously meditate which is daily after work and at least twice when i'm off of work. Basically what I do is get comfortable, usually in my recliner, close my eyes and just breathe deeply and slowly for a minute or two. While I'm focusing on my breathing I'm imagining with each breath drawn that I'm drawing blue light from my feet to my head and each exhale from head to feet. I continue that until I feel very deeply relaxed then the pulsation feeling of the light continues basically on it's own and i just find any focal point behind my eyes. Usually a verrry tiny speck of light I find and then i just try and focus on it and usually get bursts of light and wavy dark colors and then randomly it may be faces that appear in full color or in black and white. Recently I had one of this absolutely gorgeous woman appear and smile at me and then fade away. Sometimes I'll get a tunnel vision type thing and sometimes there's a drak small figure jogging down it. For the most part these things are completely and utterly random and there are too many to list. Sometimes I get the vibes from it and usually, lately, i've had my focus brought tothem and they go away, kind of disappointing but i'm still learning how to control my focus and fears etc. also I've tried so far to not do very much specific research into meditation techniques or chakras etc just so I can gauge my progress without much outside influence. A part of me feels I need to seriously research how to go deeper but for now i'm going to let this cultuvate itself until I feel i HAVE to do something different. That being said, no concious AP as of yet but plenty of strange visions, faces, weird phenomena even in my everyday concious state. Sorting through it all continually and very very excited about it and still very gretful to have found this site!

Also i work shift work in a steel mill on the furnace. Basically we create a lightning storm inside of a steel bucket and turn cars and junk metal into lava! I like the job but it is extremely physical at times and the heat is overwhelming working near it. So my meditation and projection practice is after work....which from what i've read is most difficult and success rate for projection is low especially for a newbie like myself. But I haven't gotten frustrated with it and really enjoy each session even without success and I figure that even though the chances are slim, if i'm able to clear my head and deeply relax after a twelve hour shift here and get some of the symptoms of projection then after awhile, trying it on my days off when i first wake up should come easier. Given the time since i started (about a month ago tops) i find my progress, focus, and skill level increasing far more than what I had conceived prior, not to mention the constant growing of positivity and shedding of the negative I've gained thus far is personally very impressive!

did you always have such strong visions in meditations?

if you wanna project you gotta nap first for a few hours. wake up, and THEN start practicing. without a nap, there is tiny chance youll have AP.

No not always intense visions and they vary depending on how focused I am and the duration of the session. I don't keep up with my time, maybe I should to better gauge the results. I understand te chances of coming home wore put from work are much slimmer for me but i do still get the 'symptoms' of projection almost everytime i commit to meditating. The last couple of sessions i got very intense vibes, ringing in the ears and for whatever reason the sound of someone snapping their thumb right beside my right ear. Needless to say the snap is very distracting. At one point I reached the highest vibes I've gotten so far and my bedroom was rumbling and i could see to shadowy figures standing over me like encouraging me to get out but I couldn't. To make it stranger i recorded the time i laid down that night and after the event. My wife said she saw two shooting stars going towards our house from her work about the time i laid down andwhen she went back outside she saw them again wxcept they were heading the opposite way overhead about the time i came out of the state. I thought that was awesome :)

Metaphor for you.
You planted the seed in good earth, the waters given bring life.
You only need to allow it to grow naturally.
From an acorn a mighty oak will grow.

You will understand this.  :-D
