Who to trust?

Firstly Hello to everyone on the forums,

The other morning I woke early to find myself floating slightly above my body. I could feel my physical body and my etheric body at the same time. I could hear some strange sounds that I knew were not physical in origin. I heard a voice saying 'derecha, derecha' (which in Spanish means right - as in the direction). I'm English but currently travelling in Peru - hence the Spanish?

Anyway, I took it as advice to try to roll to my right to initiate an OBE. I think I tried too hard, as I snapped back into my physical body. It got me thinking afterwards, should I have trusted the voice? At the time I felt no threat and just took the advice. Maybe it was the 'dweller' giving me false info to stymy my progress. I've only had a projection from a dream - never a fully conscious exit.

Who can we trust in the OBE environment? Are there beings that help/hinder us get out? Or are we on our own armed only with our Intuition?

Hmmm...if you're out in the OBE enviroment you could try the conjuration of Jupiter on a being before trusting what it says...it usually works real fast because some just get really really angry when you do that, that's a sign it's bad...some may just sit there and let you do it(always good to do the whole thing twice,trust me) but I must say that when you do Jupiter be prepared that some beings just attack you right away.

I'm reading about the Conjuration of Jupiter; how do you tell whether the entity is good or bad?  Shouldn't it force them to leave either way?  Please explain.

I've never to my knowledge conjured Jupiter (or any planetary force). Isn't it a technique of ceremonial magic, which I'd need training in?

MajorTom, thanks for your response. I'll take the panther as a warning! As to the question of will, I'm usually a trusting person unless something obviously feels wrong.I don't think I'd give up my will (unless in experimentation). But if I were the Lord of Darkness I'd hide behind the mask of an angel/guide/benevolent being and manipulate a person to where I want them before I strike (or trick them into giving up will/energy). That's how most of the rotten humans behave on this planet anyway. It's rare that these people are openly mean, especially before they've got what they're after. I'm assuming it's the same for discarnate entities!

So is it possible for a malevolent being to hide their true nature until they have your trust?

I'm hoping and trusting my intuition will break through any facades. However, it would be reassuring to know that one can't hide one's true nature.

Actually, I'm not worried about malevolent entities nor do I expect them to show up. I believe that 'like attracts like', that is energy seeks its own level. Just curious as to the nature of the astral.

I firmly believe in the idea that 'we are our own gods'.

I agree totally with you on this point Major. The Godforce (or whatever you label it) is in everything and we all express it to a greater or lesser degree.

I was once told that the first thing I should do if confronted by another entity is to ask for its name. Apparently no beings can "lie" in this domain. They can surely trick you if there's something they're after, but they have to go about it deceptively, hence, using truth as it's only mean. So, the name exchange in essence, helps to exchange energy, thus binding some type of an agreement and now you have power over it because you know its name and thus can cast it away. Usually, if it doesn't reply, it is not a good sign because it already has something to hide!

Well, ultimately it does come down to yourself. I would be extremely reluctant to give up any of my decision power in OBEs. It's me at the helm during OBEs, and even if I decide to give the helm to someone else for a while, I still remain the skipper. I may not always make the right decisions, but that pales in comparison to everything one may be subjected to by giving up one's free will.

MajorTom, I am trying to break free from things that begun in my teens, at 15.  I am 30 now.  I have other posts in various discussions in other forums trying to get help and figure things out.  

When I was 15, I met James, a adept APer and many other things.  Anyway, he was the one who started bringing me out of my body to meet with his "community" in the astral/dream states.  To my knowledge, he can still do this but I want to take control.  He comes every now and then; years back I would call him to see him because i had unanswered questions (still do.)  I still dream of him and I don't know what to make of anything.  Things are confusing at the moment.  Anyway, do you know how I can take back my free will and own my abilities?  I've noticed whenever I try to learn these skills on my own he appears in my dreams or something weird happens.  

Any advice??

on the contrary, beings can lie and pretend to be others, neg spirits can fake they are someone else by giving a false name , i've heard that it often happens with Ouija boards and stuff

Thanks for the advice Blue Giant, I hadn't considered asking for the name, but I do recall it vaguely from some Magical text or other.
