I just ordered this book on my kindle.  I'm still working on another book, so i probably won't read this for another week or so.  But I wanted to share it because it seems like a neat and novel approach to AP.  As far as I can tell it focuses not on persistent meditative practice, but rather letting crystals do the hard work.  As many here know, I'm a big fan of crystals.  So after I read this and try it out I'll let you know how it is.  In the meantime, feel free to check it out and see if it's worth it.  If you have a kindle it's only like $2.99.

be awesome.

Volgerle

Interesting. I'm a crystal experimenter, too.
Does the author say explicitly which crystals to use? And "how" to use them?

I don't have a kindle, but I have a barnes and noble nook (I've had it for a few months and LOVE IT).  Do you know if it's possible to convert the kindle format to a txt or pdf or something? The price is right.

EDIT: Nope, it's got DRM. I checked barnes and noble and they only have a $20 paperback of it.

personalreality

yea that's the hard part about amazon.  they don't want anyone else to have their perks so they make it hard to put their stuff on other ereaders.  HOWEVER.  i have read that it can be done, though it takes some computer savvy and decryption software.

i know you're not really big on piracy stookie, but i believe this book was originally an ebook associated with an online class, so you may be able to find a pdf version out there.
be awesome.

personalreality

here stookie,

i'm pretty sure that this is the pdf version that you can buy for $2.99.  i haven't heard of this site before, but the price is the same and it's not amazon so you should be able to get it and put it on the nook in pdf.

How can a crystal help astral projection ?
Supposedly, by simply holding a crystal (clear quartz) for instance... it can raise your energy to it's level, making it easier for you to concentrate.
Alternatively, you can also "program" the crystal with a particular "goal" to assist you to achieve that goal.  Again, simply by holding it.  :)

Hello, I thought as I am new and have interest in Astral Travel, the idea of crystals for aiding and abetting travel is well known.
I sleep with a Clear Quartz crystal and this helps me with many a psychic matter.

The reviews on amazon seem to have been written by the same person.

I agree Volgerle and I don't like that.

I am just curious..  How do you guys know this for sure????  I read the 7 reviews and thought they sounded and looked to be from different people???

I would like to learn how you guys know so I can know in the future..

Lexy

You don't have to have a kindle btw. You can download to your pc. Amazon has a program called "kindle for PC" so you can read any kindle book on your PC.

my comment was meant to be more generic and jokingly, but nevertheless indeed from experience, it is common knowledge that some authors (especially those doing some kind of self-publishing, which is easy today) use it as a marketing tool to promote themselves

I just took a short look at the reviews now again (at amazon.com).

First: you only read 6 reviews instead of 7 since one is already duplicated (with a 5-star rate - how handy   :| )
Moreover, some reviewers have only this book as their only review (click on their profile to find out) - which 'smells' at least a bit dodgy to me, although a "fake" cannot be proven by this.

It could be supported further, however, by a linguistic analysis. I am too lazy to do an exact one now, but it is somehow suspicious that most of the reviewrs -  and also those who are the "one-timers" -  also start their reviews (of almost equal length) with "this book..." or a similar expression. This, of course, also proves nothing substantial, since it might still be normal enough to start a book review with "this book is...". Anyway, the hypothesis is justified. It smells at least 'a bit' phony too me.

Maybe two of the reviews are genuine reviews by other users. The others might be the author (or friends doing a favour) herself.

Kuroth

Thanks for the Info....  And I see now what you mean...

Well for $2.99, I bought the book...  I figured this author, if she is doing all the reviews on her book or not, is not getting rich with this price...

I found the book interesting and now would like to see what personalreality thinks once he has a chance to read it...

I have not tried the authors method(Just finished reading it) but might soon... (And will let you guys know if I have any success)

It s a short, to the point, quick read and the author did not add a lot of fluff but got very quickly to the "How to" part of the book...  Which I like...

   Thanks!

Most of the reviewers on amazon for this book have only 1 review and the style used is quite similar but, never mind, it is not important.

I don't think a crystal can trigger an astral projection. It is only a tool. Maybe a good one for self confidence or kind of self-hypnosis purpose. Once again, this is just a personal opinion and as I am open minded, I am sincerely waiting for your review. There is always something interesting to get in a book ;)

This is very correct.
It is just a tool... but, seriously, if you feel it'll help you, you should go for it.

As a tool, it's meant to be used... just not forever.  :)

Volgerle

Yes, crystals are a tool, a support, like binaural beats are, but always it is still You doing the projection and stuff

Anyway, some crystals have an effect on you that you can really feel

Recently, I meditate again while lying on my bed (also with binaurals on headphones), but I am also again trying to finally learn to phase or project or lucid dream (or whatever...) from waking state 'downwards' into trance - which I haven't really managed so far (I get there from sleep/hypnagogia or dream conversion - the latter either back2body and then out or directly onto planes).

Maybe I have some little helpers now.  :-), because what I also did now for a few times is holding two little Moldavites in my right and left hand respectively with my thumb, index and middle finger - holding them like this (instead of e.g. just in the palm or fist) gets for me the best results, as I found out.

And the results are WEIRD.  :-o

Yes, of course, feelings of disassociation especially of my limbs in meditative state is as far as I have got anyway.  But it gets crazier with the Moldavites, definitely, this is not illusory or make-believe.

Only after a short time of relaxation and slight trance, I don't feel the Moldavites, then the hand anymore, partially also my arms. Sometimes, however I feel on the spot where the stones "should be" something pulsating, vibrating or even expanding there (And I still don't feel my hands then properly!). Cannot decribe it better, but it is really, really weird.

I think Moldavites are strong tools for spiritual adventures.

personalreality, what did you think of the book? have you gone through it yet?

I am trying this now...  I will for sure report back within a month if I have any success..  If I dont report back, that means it did not work for me..

personalreality

I haven't read it yet.

I just came across it when I was perusing amazon.

When I bought it I was in the middle of reading Graham Hancock's Fingerprints of the Gods (which is a massive book if you've ever seen it) and I already had "Chariot of the Gods" on the list to read next, followed by this theoretical physics book I'm reading now by Brian Greene, then I have "Holotropic Breathwork" by Stanislov Grof to read, THEN I will read this crystal book.

When I posted this thread I knew it would be a little while before I got to reading the book.  Also, I haven't been doing much in the way of projection practice lately as I have undertaken some new interests, so I knew I wouldn't be trying out these techniques for a bit.  I really just wanted to share a potential alternative to traditional techniques and let you guys try it out.

From what I gather this book was always an eBook (wasn't originally a physical book, it still might not be, I don't know) and was associated with some kind of online course.  Who knows, maybe it's the same old crystal info that you can find in a number of other astral projection sources (usually ones written from the perspective of pagan/shamanic traditions).  Nevertheless, it sounded neat and at $2.99 why not.  It may be a load of crap, but it may also be the key someone needs to achieve projection.

I have a history of working with crystals for projection, specifically things like Ulexite, Covellite, Bismuth, Spectrolite, Quartz, Selenite, Merlinite, Mochi Balls (Shaman's Stones) and others.  I have always had interesting results.  Often very subtle, but definitely noticeable.  I still combined crystals with classic OBE techniques, but this author seems to imply that the techniques presented in this book are altogether different from typical meditative focus and visualization based techniques.

So, when I get around to reading this book I will certainly post my opinion of the techniques at the very least, if not a full review.  But I happily invite others to do the same if you get  to it before I do.  I would honestly like to have an idea of what it's about as well.
be awesome.

Kuroth

Thanks for the update..

This book is really small, I think like 40 pages, and I read it in like 30 min(And I am a slow reader)...   Overall I found it very interesting...  Having never used crystals for anything, I have nothing to compare it to..  But I have read a lot of OBE books and this one is definitely a completely different method I have never heard of before...  Almost too simple to be believed... But I am giving it a shot...  Without giving away too much the MAIN thing I found interesting about her method is that you basically don't have to do any of the traditional things to do the OBE...  I even emailed the author asking her if she suggest any specific time to have the best results(Like waking up early in the morning and then going back to bed etc) and she replied that she believes you should not have to do anything special to have an OBE and most of hers come right after going to sleep for the night...

I to have a bunch of books lined up to get to but bumped this one to the front since it is so small..

Oh and thanks a lot...  Now I have "Holotropic Breathwork" on my books to get too..  LOL

lol.  If you like that book then you should check into some more Stanislov Grof.  He's a transpersonal psychologist (which is kind of like a humanist, but self-actualization is a big deal and the approach is more holistic, and really probes the nature of consciousness).  He used to be into the whole "psychonaut" (took hallucinogens for psychological research) thing back in the day with people like Tim Leary and John C. Lily and whatnot.
