The Strobe Effect?

BOATS

I wrote something in a prior post of what I considered a strobe effect that happened to be.  Lying in bed a few years ago after meditating I had my eyes opened.  I noticed a white energy that seemed to come from the ceiling and made its way to my forhead in waves.  Its kind of the fealing like if you stand still and have a friend take one finger and slowly center it in the middle of your vision of site and slowly move it to he touches your forhead.  There is a strange sensation that seems to almost start at the rear of the head and go through the skull to the center of the forhead.  There is a tingleing and tention sensation encountered.  this is the feeling the energy lights produced.  This occured for about 3 minutes and the energy increased the entire time to I almose felt i was being struck.  This also produced in myself the so called Kundalini.

Mine always happens with my eyes closed, but our experiences might be two variations of the same thing.  It used to make my sinuses feel funny, but now I've gotten used to it.

Did you have a Kundalini awakening?

BOATS

Yes and I had not heard of it before it occured.  It actially caused me to start having panic attacks for awhile.  Very strange energy sensations that made me feel as if I was slipping OBE when I closed my eyes.  I went to the hospital one day with a heart rate 160 while in a resting state.  I run 6 miles a day but someone in poor health could have died of heart failure.  Everyone should be aware of Kundalini before attempting OBE.

Naiad780

That certainly would have been frightening.  Did it just happen out of the blue, or had you been doing any Kundalini-raising exercises?  I assume it went away after awhile?

BOATS

I have always felt weird after meditating. ususlly  for a few days. Almost like a sickness at the stomach and a slight headach.  Also I become very self aware during this time. Thus I have not maintained a practice of doing it until I made the decision to attempt Astral Projection a few years ago.  It just happened out of the blue.  The first thing I did notice before it occured was that while meditating in the lotus position my right arm began to jump on its own.  I have heard this can also be a sign of energy starting to rise.  The sensations did decrease over a few months, however I made no attempt at OBE during this time.

Naiad780

Strange.  Maybe the sickness was because your higher self was trying to discourage you from doing anything to raise the Kundalini at that time.  I hope you're doing better now.

Naiad780

(by sickness, I meant the illness you would feel while meditating)

BOATS

I know, Thanks anyway.  I have read it will naturally fade to a certain degree.  Some people I've read really get messed up phycologically.  Actially think they are going mad.  I do believe the higher self watches out for me anyway.  I had written in a prior post about the steps that seem to occure when attempting OBE.  The Energy, Vivid Dreams, Lucid dreams, Sleep paralysis, Astral noise , Self awareness, meeting people OBE was a big step for me.  The first time I met someone Astrally I tried to produce a gun.  Well he laughed at me and said O.K. and left.  I ran.  It all seems to happen in time.  I was actially afraid to go to sleep the next night.  I seem to have more self awareness and a degree of chakra energy that is enhanced since the Kundalini but I have ajusted to it naturally.

I had the strobe effect triggered recently by my wife opening the door and startling me while doing energy work. The startlement set off the brow chakra in a brilliant flash.

you know that's really just a brief bleaching out of the corneas due to the blood rushing to other areas of your body during a moment of shock. This also happens at the time of death thus explaining (however mundanely)the white light, tunnels and so on). As sad as it is the brain is prone to "misfire"when shutting down, if there is an afterlife at all only the dead will ever know about it.In all reality there are no such things as chakras, in fact there is little hope that any of this information is anything other than just wishful thinking. However I would like to add a word of caution to those attempting any astral projection type things... The power of the mind is indeed great and capable of producing vast quantities of hallucinations and even pain (ie hypocondrea, scitzophrenia, ect.)So beware how deep you dig- everyone of us is capable of becoming mentally ill, or even inducing strokes, and siezure like activity.

Naiad780

Portal, that's an interesting idea, but I don't buy it because my body would be experiencing other symptoms of shock as well, and there's nothing about quietly meditating/falling asleep that would prompt my body to go into shock anyway.

I don't really hold with this type of uber-scientific thinking.  The biological explanations of NDE and AP are only one way of explaining them.  I believe, due to my own personal experience (which is far more important to me than the insistence of any biological researcher) that spiritual causes can manifest with physical signs.  Furthermore, it's arrogant to assume that current science can explain everything.  It's like saying, "If we don't know about it, it doesn't exist."  I prefer to believe that someday science will be able to explain the "paranormal" things we experience, rather than just say "it doesn't exist."

To say, "it's really just a physical symptom" is a bit short-sighted, IMO.  It's like people who insist that love is merely chemicals.  On a physical level, perhaps, but to assume that there are no other levels of experience is ... ridiculous.

Anyway, thanks for your opinion.  I'm not flaming you, just stating my own.

I was actually responding to astralpwka about the strobe effect. And as far as my opinion on the existance of say chakras- well it's pretty obvious really- when you operate on someone you don't open them up to see chakras. And if you would say that they can't be seen touched or observed in any way other than by the person experiencing the effects ect. then how can any rational person chalk them up to anything more than mere dillusion or at best a dream? If you want to prove anything you'll have to show some hard data, some actual results gathered in an unbiased lab. I'm not out to get you but merely shed a healthy amount of scepticism on all of this, for only through being sceptical can we truly seperate what is fact and what is not. Also I feel it's important to note that science is the search for fact not truth, truth is for philosophers.

Naiad780

"Also I feel it's important to note that science is the search for fact not truth, truth is for philosophers."

You know, that's a really good distinction.  Remembering that could probably solve a lot of arguments that go on over these things.

You have a very reasonable scientific attitude and I respect that.  However, I do hold my personal experiences over what any scientist/medical professional has to say, although I don't automatically discount it.  There are a lot of possible explanations, and they do not all have to be mutually exclusive.

I just thought I'd let you guys know that I asked Robert Bruce about this and he said that it takes about 2 hours of energy work to create the vision screen (which is a temporary construction, of course).

He said that daily energy work, meditation, yoga, and a healthy diet will help promote this, but it's really something you have to work up to.

I discovered something interesting this morning, too.  I woke from a lucid dream to the strobe effect.  I made it last a lot longer than usual by thinking, "Go, go, go, go, go!"  I ended up seeing what looked like white lasers moving very fast in geometric patterns.  It was pretty interesting, although it wasn't the vision screen.  Still, I'm making progress :)

Actually, I think I'll agree with you. But it was darned good timing.

I'm posting this here since I did't get a response in the other forum I put this in.

This thing has been happening to me ever since I was three years old, and I never knew what it was or why it happened. I just read a section of "Astral Dyamics" that says it's called "The Strobe Effect." Robert Bruce described exactly what's always happened to me (except my strobe effect also has a spinning sensation, probably because chakras spin), and I SO excited to finally know what it is!

Does anyone else experience this? Were you able to successfully take it to the vision screen Mr. Bruce writes about? I have seen this Vision Screen before, but haven't been able to make it happen when I want it to. I would like to work with it but I'm not entirely sure where to start. Mostly the strobe happens spontaneously, although if I'm in the right mental state I can usually call it up. It never lasts for more than five seconds, though.

Any tips are welcome. A great mystery of my life has been solved. Thanks, Robert Bruce!
