Title: Uncomfortable entering mind awake body asleep...
Post by: newmethod on January 31, 2009, 20:02:35
Personally I believe my greatest challenge in having conscious OBE experiences is:

i'm such a good sleeper....
if were to go to bed to sleep... i would generally fall asleep in about two minutes or less (seriously..) and not wake till morning...

To learn OBE i am having to keep myself awake longer and change my habit... This often creates an uncomfortable feeling in my body as i keep myself awake now for up to an hour... I normally start to feel uncomfortable in my body after 30min-1hr of doing this...I usually choose to give up and go to sleep...

Anyone else feel uncomfortable after a while of keeping their mind awake while body falls asleep?
Will this feeling subside as i get use to keeping myself awake?

Is it worth pushing through it, or is it best to rest when feeling uncomfortable?
If you do push through it what is on the other side?
At the moment the energy that presents itself and makes me uncomfortable feels like it could give me insomnia or at least force me out of bed for a while before i could go back to bed for sleep

Thank you,
Newmethod

It's definitely breaking a habit, I just wrote an entire article about this on my blog called "Breaking Old Habits". Personally I would have to weigh my options if I was normally a good sleeper and was losing sleep, but as it stands I have not slept well in the last 10 years.

Every night right as I fall asleep I feel like I am dieing and jump up in a panic right after dozing off. I have seen several doctors about this and none have any answers. The best way I can describe it is that I feel like I consciousness is being snuffed out and I fight it and wake back up. The OBE attempts have actually helped me and this has not been happening as much.

Anyway, have you tried OBEs during the day after you have had enough sleep?

I have also had this feeling of panic and loss of consciousness- as if it is draining right out of me. I associate this with sleep paralysis.  Most times now, I can bypass the SP and go straight to projection.  These bad feelings during SP gradually subsided after I faced down my SP "daemons".  See my blog-

A little sorry to hear that... What changed 10 years ago?

It's not so much about the lost sleep, it's more of a fact that staying awake in bed for this length of time (30min-1hr) often makes me uncomfortable... Maybe i am staying TOO awake and not relaxing enough..

I could meditate an hour though and not feel like this... so not sure what is causing it..
Will observe the process & hopefully what is creating it more tonight.. unless i don't get it which will be good :)

Thanks dm, your input in threads is always appreciated
