Help me Over the Top...and OUT...

It sounds like a genuine OBE to me.

1) If your concious thought is as focused as it is in the physical then its probably a real OBE.
I understand what you are saying when you say you get excited when it happens and end up back in body too soon. Unforunately I still suffer from this problem sometimes.

2) I have a similair problem when I'm out and I feel I'm always on the end of a tight elastic band trying to suck me back to my body and it usually makes me wake up back in the physical. I think there are 2 possible reasons for my experience, 1-Me thinking of this happening makes it happen and then it gets worse because I'm expecting it to. 2- I try to leave the body too soon after the vibrations start so therefore I'm not totally free and the only way is back to body.
I think in your case its the first point. I think you are free to explore but you have got into a bad habit that is now repeating itself. Try doing something completely different when you exit. Try immediately floating through your ceiling or through an outside window before the fall occurs. If you expect the fall to occur it will. I'm saying this as someone who still has many astral problems to combat so I'm no expert but I do know that bad habits need to be broken for progress to happen.
I hope this helps.

First of all, welcome to the board.  To answer your question, I would take any lucid experience anyway I can get it.  It's all a matter of bringing your full conscious awareness into your altered state of mental focus.  To put it simply, whether you become aware that you're dreaming, or whether you become aware that you're asleep, as long as you remain calm and relaxed, you can have a very beneficial experience.

In my opinion, there is no such thing as a "less potent OBE."  There is only projections with varying degrees of awareness.  If you're projecting and you have only a little awareness which fleets all over the place, the experience will seem more dreamlike.

The opposite is true as well.  If you project and you have a strong control of your awareness throughout the entire time, then your experience will blow your mind away.

It's all about remain calm and emotionally closed off from the abundant excitement that comes with projecting.

Think about it.....if you were to thrust your hand through the computer screen that you're looking at right now, chances are that your heart would start racing!  Your brain would also be bombarded with all kinds of thoughts:

"Holy crap!  Look at my arm!"
"Is this really happening?"
"I can't wait to show everyone this cool ability!"
etc......

Since when you project, your full conscious mind is still present with you (just as it is now), you're still going to experience these physical thoughts.  Your heart is still going to race and you're still going to get excited when you find out you have "Super powers."

The key is to KNOW that this is going to happen and remain calm.  You almost have to detach the way you normally would react in this situation and just ACCEPT it.  When you walk through a door, don't get too blown away that you're doing it.

Another thing I try and do to prolong the experience is to not rush it.  It's almost a habit to project and immedietely tell myself, "Ok, hurry and do something meaningful before it ends!"  This is almost a surefire way of killing the experience, because you're already setting yourself up to END the projection.

Instead, take things slow.  Tell yourself that you can stay out as long as you want.  Don't rush and see if that helps you.

Again...thanx so much for reading, and helping. I very much look forward to becoming a frequent reader/ writer on this board.

cool...sounds like good advice. I definitely am "thinking" too much while I am out. The anxiety builds, the tension rises...and I rush into it. I absolutely am guilty of trying to have some meaningful thing happen before it ends-

I will try and be more patient with the events, and less analytical and excited as well.

I am very dedicated to getting a strong hold on this ability. It seems there are many answers to be learned through this. I approach most things I become interested in with lotsa obsessive enthusiasm. So...I really want to become proficient at this and learn, so I can be in a position to help others learn and heal through OBE as well. It really should become more popular than it is. I think as we evolve, more people will open up to "alternative" practices...and soon after, it will not be as alternative.

While I am rambling...The thing that is confusing me is that I can't understand why it is so much easier to leave once I have realized I am sleeping/ dreaming than it is to purposefully sit down and have an attempt. I guess I will keep working with the Astral Dynamics techniques until I find my hook.

Oh..here is another oddity (at least to me, for now ,while I still reside in my less than 10 OBE status): when I project from dream state most of the time I have been in the room I was physically sleeping in...but once or twice I projected conciously, but the environment was the dream environment. I actually was able to fly and stay out a bit longer...but it was slightly less intense than the others...i guess now that I think about it, I felt less concious, but it was lucid.

Anyhow..thanx so much for the replies and help...I'll keep working, and studying...see you soon- :))

lotsa love

Hello!  Welcome to the boards!  I've read your stuff and it sounds like the real-deal to me.  I'm pretty much in the same boat; i.e.,  "Still "Freakin in the Real Time Zone."

All I can say is that we learn by doing, doing, doing.  Pretty soon the "rush" of the exit will pass and the RTZ will become - - - dare I say it? - - - a little boring.  Then you can start to have fun.

One thing about falling asleep "involuntarily."  I do that too.  Actually it's not really involuntary.  It's because we need to sleep.  . . most of us don't get enough of it.  So work on that, ok?  Everyone?

Hi. This is my 1st post. I first must say that I have been reading a while and have read many posts. It feels like there are a lot of genuine, caring, helpful people in this forum. Its good to be able to communicate our challenges to each other. Thanx in advance for the advice, and thoughts...

So here is where I am in my OBE progress. I have been reading and studying on it for about a year. I am currently reading Astral Dynamics, and trying to do everything it says. I have had what I think are OBE's. My thing is this: I have never had one while actually sitting down and trying. It seems as if I fall asleep all the time. All of the experiences that I have had have been like this: I intend on having OBE...but I soon drift off to sleep...I get into a deep dreamy kinda mode...I realize I am dreaming so I use this opportunity to project...and sort of just say "hey..I am gonna induce the infamous vibrations..."- they come...I become very concious of my situation (but still kinda feel asleep- at least I know I am not awake- is this normal?)...I get imagery...I can see my room and stuff through my eyes, but my eyes are shut...I sit up and outta my body. OK...the first few times...at this point I flip out and get all excited and "wake up", "go back to physical", and want to call all my friends and tell them this stuff actually is real! lol...now, after I guess probably 6 of these...I have this very depressing thing happen to me: I get out...I walk/float/whatever about 15-20 feet and sort "fall" or "float" or crash into the ground and then BOOM...back to physical...and awake fully. I cuss, and cry that there goes another opportunity to learn the secrets of the universe down the drain.

So my questions: 1. Is this a real OBE (i.e. the lucid dream approach that I guess I am using) and the same experience as when you just relax, energize, trance out, vibrate...and leave? Or is this a less "potent" OBE...one that is more a dream? I really do not want to have to rely on becoming lucid...its too infrequent- I want Control...

2. How do I keep from nosediving into the floor? I really want to keep going and explore...
