What Do I Do?

So a bit ago I decided I really wanted to learn more about lucid dreaming and obe's. I watched documentaries, youtube videos, random websites google found, even spent leisure time simply watching movies about lucid dreaming like Waking Life(very good by the way). Anyways, the first night I decided to try lucid dreaming, I succeeded 3 times(One of which I looked at my disformed hands and woke up from being startled). Anyways, for the past couple nights I have been attempting to have an OBE, I lay down in my bed or couch, and feel this heavy lead blanket pour over my body. I've learned this to be sleep paralysis kicking in, then I hear static noise, and being to feel vibrations. The vibrations became some intense I felt like I was being ripped back and forth like a ribbon thats being, well, ripped back and forth.

Now the first time I thought I was just supposed to wait for something to happen, like for an image to appear in my mind and then I would be out, so I sat there trying my best to relax and not move. The vibrations stopped, and I felt a sort of warmness, Im not sure how to explain it, but it wasn't vibrations, but it wasn't nothing. So I tried to imagine different scenery and sensations but to no avail, I just ended up staring into the darkness of my eyelids until my body woke up.

Last night I tried a number of times, and again heard the noises and felt the vibrations. I learned to try and picture and feel things to hopefully teleport out, but it didnt work. Then I also remembered reading to open my mouth just a little, and somehow it would initiate the exiting process, but it didn't work either. I was listening to the sound of a river flowing, so I tried to make up a scene for that, and feel like, water going past my feet, but it didn't work. Vibrations would come and pass, then come again, I figured I must have woken up at some point and falling back under. I tried to picture a rope hanging down that I was climbing but nothing, I then tried to imagine I was spinning or rolling, and my ears felt strange, which I thought was good, i could feel myself off balance, like the liquid in my ears were pushed in a different direction. But the sensation faded. I remember seeing stars, like all of a sudden things were clear and I was in space, but i realized I didn't want to be in space, so I might have messed that one up by not just relaxing into it. I remember trying to move my astral body, but I wasn't sure how successful I was with that.

Anyways, I am wondering if anyone has experienced this before and knows of something I'm doing wrong. I guess I'm just trying to figure out how to exit, though I know a lot of techniques to do so. I just get lost in the darkness of my eyelids. When will I gain vision? Am I supposed to sense the time to exit and actually try to move or open my eyes? I also read on other's topics about "Gateway Experience" by Robert Monroe, so I was going to check that out to see if it would help me relax and maybe paint a scene for me. I know these things take a lot of practice so as of now I'm thinking I just need to practice more(which is true) but I'd love to know any thoughts or tips anyone has. Thanks a bunch for any answer.

You are making a common mistake when vibrations happen.  You don't wait for something to happen and you don't imagine separation either as failure is more likely than anything else.

What you do is move after vibrations have peaked.  Move out as though physically.  It may feel like you are moving with your physical body but don't let doubt stop you.  If you experience resistance, be forceful.

For more, visit www.obe4u.com and check out Michael Raduga's School of Out of Body Travel.  It has everything you need to know there for successful long-lasting Phase experiences.  You may join the Discussions section there too and ask questions.

Mr. Raduga is currently establishing an OOBE Research Centre.  There will be many Departments, one of which I'll be the Chief of.  I will be dealing with managing the Phase state and will be coordinating experiences for publishing.  This will be my new job.  I wouldn't work with Raduga if I wasn't sure about the methods and the advice he promotes.  He is a good teacher and I can vouch for this!

Btw, you don't open your eyes while your in the body experiencing vibrations.  Your eyes are to remain closed throughout induction.  Then you separate.  You may acquire vision straight away or, if vision is partial or absent, there are many techniques you can perform in order to engross yourself in the Phase state.  Palpation is one of them.  Rubbing your hands together and blowing on them, for instance, can yield fast results and vision will come to you as a result.  You can deepen the state to the point where your mind's eye is sharper than your eyesight in waking life.

Good luck!  8-)

Nicholas Newport states clearly what to do in the vibration state. You need to ride them until a certain point. I think there is some controversy over when to do the exit. I remember riding them until they had calmed down, and I had a successful exit with a good, long OBE. Whatever works would be termed successful.

I'd agree on the imagining separation. You see, you are the one who is exiting. There is no dual consciousness. You yourself go on the journey. So yes, imagining would not really work, IMHO.

You are trying to project too early. Your energy body is not yet fully "formed" to leave the body just yet. Sensing when to leave is the best of choices in my opinion, when your mindset trully says it's ready to leave than you can. If you are left thinking you can't do it, than you won't. For the exit method, i prefer the rope method. It's simple and effective. Just keep working at it, you'll get it sooner than you think.

I suggest one of two things...

If you're "in a rush" to experience the non-physical... then the absolute easiest way is to program yourself, upon waking in the morning, to keep your eyes closed and your body perfectly still.  Then just lie there like that for a dozen or so seconds and you should feel the shift into the non-physical.  Barring that, upon waking in the morning leaves you in good state to practice normally otherwise.

If you're not in a rush and want to learn to experience the non-physical anytime anywhere... then that begins with taking the time and learning to meditate.  Learn to focus your mind... then learn to hold that focus.

Yeah, I think I may pursue both in a manner if thats possible. I would enjoy to experience the non physical, but for the past few days I've been using Monroe's gateway experience and trying to meditate a couple times a day. I did just read your eBook "Phasing Primer" and I think it's gonna help me a lot. Whenever I do meditate I see swirls of color, and I watch them shift, sometimes it looks like some sort of Chinese symbol inside of the color blob, it's usually then when my eyes try and look at it which as I read, basically sets me back to C1. I was curious about Focus 10, now I have felt that lead blanket feeling and vibrations and that's what I've considered to be having my body asleep, mind awake. Now when I try and go to focus 10, Monroe call's that body asleep, mind awake. So I'm not sure if i just havent been able to achieve focus 10 or if my definition of body asleep is different. Generally when i attempt to get to focus 10 I'm fairly involved in what is happening in my eyelids, and not thinking about my body or surroundings nearly as much. I can feel my body is certainly relaxed, some parts even feel somewhat numb, like it almost seems like my hands should be on my legs but i know they're by my side. Anyways, the questions here is is focus 10 being in a state where my body is fully under sleep paralysis, or that it's just very relaxed.

Practice, practice, practice and even more practice. That is the only answer. Everytime you get better and better at this. It takes a very unique person to just attempt to OBE and make it there the first time. I'm sure it happens for some, but for most it is a learning curve. You have to put the time in to enjoy the fruits of your labor! :-)
