What technique did I do?

"WILDs" Are used for falling asleep consciously.

In OBE terms its the "mind awake/body asleep" state.

I use multiple variations of WILDs, but in any case you are just more aware of your dreams/conscious during sleep.

There are WILDs which are wake induced lucidity, then there are DILDs which are dream induced lucidity from unconscious sleeping. You can also use techniques to partially awake during sleep.

Whether it is a lucid dream or an OBE. They both need you to be in the
"WILD" or mind awake/body asleep state or merely conscious sleeping.

Hey there blackstream , seems to me like you did a sort of "interrupted sleep" technique without knowing it.  That technique has led me to over 80% of my concious OBE's and its one of the easiest ways to have an OBE. It sounds like the interrupted sleep technique cause when you woke up from your dream and you noted that you were very relaxed , your mind was waking up a bit. Also not moving your body much ( if at all ) definately would have kept your body perfectly relaxed for the interrupted sleep technique to work (even thought it should stay in that "state" even if you got up and read a book or something for 30 minutes).

Thats a quick way to do the interrupted sleep technique of course.. most people getup for a half hour or more and do something then go back to sleep and end up waking in paralysis most of the time.

I wonder what would happen if we set an alarm clock to go off at .... 3:00am and when you wake up all dazed and confused wondering WHY it went off , simply hit the snooze button and count to 20 or 30 or do something to get your mind more awake without moving.  The state your mind/body is in right when you wake up is the best state to project in (in my opinion).  It seems like that for me.. if I try to project before I go to bed for the night , I end up falling asleep and having a very vivid dream but I cant control it.

I had most of my concious OBEs from waking up , getting dressed , burshing my teeth , sitting on the schoolbus and falling asleep ( for 40 minutes), getting on the OTHER bus and falling asleep (for 20 minutes) , then standing up outside the school in cold weather for 8-10 minutes and finally collapsing in my schooldesk sitting up all awkwardly and somewhat uncomfortably.. within 10 minutes I was floating around more awake in the astral than any other times. ----  That has happened SOO much .. I wish I had a brainwave monitor hooked up to me for a few of those mornings when I did that so I can study exactly WHY it was so easy for me to OBE with that morning routine..  Hell, if I can project going through all that in the morning .. it should give everyone else a little hope just knowing that it can be done in a fashion to.. different from the norm-- Dont limit yourself guys! I've projected successfuly in the strangest places in various temperatures and sitting positions quiet/loud both.  I think we should focus more on what state your mind/body is in when we project and then focus on reaching that state with whatever technique works for you.  If breathing gets you to your projection state then work on it.. if its a visual technique like Rope or Astral double then work on it.  I have no clue what works for me.. I cant OBE much when I'm at home.. When I do , its only from waking up at 1:30am taking a shower and just trying to go back to sleep without trying... If I planned on it , I could most likely OBE much much more at school.

Ok , I'm done , sorry for the long post.. things were just coming to me in that one. =P  Take care guys , I got my computer back wohoooo!
Loving yourself first is the most important step you must take before you can truly love someone else.

Feel free to ask me anything. I'll try to offer advice if I can.

Okay thanks:)  Only thing I'd mention is that I didn't unintentionally do my technique, I did know about interrupted sleep, although I didn't plan it.  I was just like, "Hey, I'm falling asleep again.  Heeeeeyyyyyyyyyyy!"

Which reminds me of another time when I was in full body paralysis and fully awake and slipping into the dream state.  Being the moron I was, I actually fought to wake up rather having a nice little dream.  About 2 minutes later I was smacking myself.  (Yes these incidents are rare if you can't tell, which is why each one is awesome)

Previously I had spent up to an hour at a time trying to hit a wild at the beginning of the night, but I'd just end up gettting up frustrated.  I'd get deeply relaxed, feel vibrations, see hypagogic imagagy (that 3d darkness for those of you who don't know), and even feel slight body paralysis.  However, I'd never make that final step to a wild, and I'd just be stuck there until I gave up.  When I actually did it, it was so easy it was annoying, lol.  I just sat there and within 20 seconds I was in a dream.  I even screwed it up by opening my eyes and had a second chance to do it which was equally effective:/

I'm trying rope next time though I'm stuck, maybe if I can't get in via hypnagogic imagry (a very fun way to do it), maybe I can pull myself out anyways;p

Fisrt off, I'm basing this off the assumption I see everyone say that astral projections and lucid dreams are one and the same.  Personally, this seems a tad bit odd, but hey whatever works.

Anyways, I was followed a wild technique I learned from www.lucidity.com.  I had just woken up from a dream, and being naturally very very relaxed, I realized I could fall right back into REM sleep, awake.  So I watched the darkness behind my eyes until I saw scenery form in front of my eyes in the form of hypnigogic imagary (basically I saw a scene carve itself out right in front of me).  I saw a spider dangling in front of me while this was happening and freaked out and opened my eyes.  I immediately felt stupid because I knew it couldn't hurt me so I closed my eyes again and immiately the same scene minus the spider started to appear again.  It's worth to note that the room looked like the one I was in, only with hallways in different places with different furnature and stuff.  I let the scene develop in front of me for a bit and for awhile it looked like it was super imposed on the darkness.

Then, all the sudden, the scene just "snapped" into focus and it looked as if I was really there.  I looked over and scratched the carpet to stabalize the "dream".   Nothing like ruining one of your first lucid dreams by moving before you are ready too:)  Then I got up, walked around in a rather realistic environment, then had a series of near-awakenings where I struggled to keep my lucidity and eventually gave up and awoke.

Now my question is, what did I do?  If lucid dreaming is in fact astral projecting, and since I went straight to dream from consciousness, I'd say that from reading Bruce's articles, I did some kinda fall into the imagary I was seeing.  Dunno.  Which is why I'm asking you guys to see what you think:)

EDIT:

So I guess my question really is, what is a WILD (wake induced lucid dream) translated to in obe terminaology?
