If the cat can detect negs, it could be stupid and just go where there are no negs.

or maybe it learned through experience that when it climbs up on the water heater, the negs won't come near. pets can learn all kinds of things through trial and error like that.

I'm a border in a house where the homeowner has an orange cat.once,last year,he (cat) was in my room,then he suddenly JUMPED 2 FEET STRAIGHT UP IN THE AIR for no particular reason,then bolted out of the room.it took months for me to coax him back in[:O].that was just after I had a particularily interesting astral projection...

I've read alot about animals, and here's a bit of info on cats.

Cats generally only care when something is moving.  They can pick out the things that move as a result of natural tendencies (wind). When something moving freaks them out (your cat for example), they get very scared and either bare their claws or run like they saw a ghost (which they may have!)

Sometimes it's hard to tell with cats what's going on with them. It could be sensing something. Cats also like warmth and high places make them feel safer. YOur sister's cat could be seeing something in peoples auras--not necessarily negs.
 I've also heard that same new age myth about animals being more "spiritually aware" & but I've not found that to be particularly true in reality. What I have found is they are about the same as people---some are psychic/sensitive and some are not.

Cats also have much better sight then humans especially in dimly lit situations so sometimes they can see something that is there that we don't, like some kind of an insect etc... I had a cat that went after a spider once and killed it but he either got bitten by it or received a real nasty taste from it.  I've seen him look at a spider now and shake his head in disgust as if he's reliving the memory of it, and then he jumps up and runs away...LOL!

In Fairy Mythology the cat is considered a ward against the fair folk
(I'm not saying the "folk" are bad-Read R.J. Stewarts books)Also in Folk literature the fable "Puss in Boots" is typical of
a cat's warrior prowess and insight into spiritual awareness.
You have to read between the lines in the fable to make it click.
In my own experience my cat Shelley(named after a fabled fairy creature "Shelley Coat" related to the kelpie, trickster) I have seen
her rush to the hallway to the door and literally attack the air and growl fuzzed up.  I'd open the door and look outside nothing
or nobody there(No it's not a car, I live in the wild, very few neighbhors out here)  After closing the door she would remain
staring at the door and finally leave I guess until whatever left
I believe since cats, dogs are not socialized into human society
as we are, they see, feel things we do not(util we re-learn).  But in defense of the cat and dog, I cannot be anymore than impressed by their spiritual intelligence and fearlessness

Well, assuming this cat isn't crazy, or anything, that is.

Ok, so, I hear animals have greater spiritual awareness than people.

Well, if that's true, then I think my sister's cat, no matter how paranoid she may be, is pretty smart.

This cat is terrified of people for some unknown reasons. The only one she likes to be near is my oldest sister.

Well, sometimes she comes out of hiding when she doesn't think anyone is around, or if she's looking for my sister.

Well, earlier I saw her (the cat) in the hallway, outside my room.

She started staring at something. Then she started flicking her paw like something was grabbing at it. Finally, she freaked out and ran away from nothing. Or so it seemed. I mean, I didn't see anything.

But I've read some things about negs here.

Here's where the smart thing comes in.

This cat is always on top of our water heater. Where water is always moving through it, and there's lots of it.

If most negs don't like water, then she should be pretty safe up there. In fact, after her little episode, she ran and got on top of the water heater.

She's pretty smart to have figured out negs don't like water.
