looking to interact with a kobold

How hard is it to interact with a kobold, gnome, or brownie, etc depending on what name used? Im pretty sure one live in the grandfather clock. It would explain the unexplained stuff that happen sometimes in room i sleep. The enviroment isnt hostile and i really dont mind having it around. I would like to have a conversation if possible as i read they are all pretty elusive and dont want to provoke any ill will since i share living spare withing 10ft.
