hoping anyone with any insight into tried and true methods of Psychic self defense would be generous enough to share them here in this thread... :?
i'm here all week

Hi
A little bemused, in order to defend you must first be attacked.
Enlighten us all please.
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

I dont believe its necessary, our protection is our mental attitude, beliefs and the way we live our life. I think the term psychic protection is spiritual jargon personally.

What are looking to protect against?

Nice death star by the way  8-)

Non of the above is true At ALL!! You SHOULD defend your self PRIOR to attack by shields!! Physic attack is generally after people have already broken through your shields to invade your privacy & personal space & or energy attack. This is typically done by such persons astral projecting into your home/work ie: space. YES!!! Protect prior! Very smart thinking. Wish i had done so myself.

Regardless of belief, I like salt baths (and salt showers) and moving water.  The occassional smudge is nice too.

Ah, salt baths are heavenly delightful! ^.^

I think the real "spiritual jargon" is the sugar-coating of the metaphysical that seems to be super popular as an "idealogy" as of lately. But of course I only speak from experience rather then bias.

Anything that you convince yourself will work, will work. It's that easy. You could use a invisible shield around your body, a morning mantra, color forms, the options are endless. It all has to do with what YOU believe will work. More people today are being open to these energies, but they are not new engergies, they have always been there. It's just that you were never aware of them before. :-)

Indeed. Basic methods work fine with casual everyday living. One doesn't need to worry about advanced protection unless they really work hot & heavy with heavy mojo or in the uhm..."crossfires" of the metaphysical hehe.

You can reflect negative energy away from you by mirroring. Hold up your arms and imagine a ball of energy & light surrounding you. It needn't go any further than the surface of your skin. Picture yourself wearing armor. It doesn't matter what kind, it should cover you completely. If you want to reflect the ugly stuff away, imagine this armor has a very bright reflective surface. Any negative energy that is being thrown at you is reflected back to the source. Think of it as a karma accelerator. But know that if there is a person putting out the negativity against you, they will feel this and may take up a renewed effort against you in retaliation, as it will feel like an attack.

A similar technique is SHIELDING. In this case, you imagine the surface of your armor as a sort of grid or cage that captures the incoming negative energy and grounds it into the earth. It acts like a sort of filter, letting in the good energy and grounding out the bad. The advantage of this is that it does not reflect anything back to the source. The source is still subject to karma, but their perception of the event is that their efforts are having no effect.

IF you take down this shield, be prepared for a sudden inrush of energy. Be prepared to ground out the surplus so that it doesn't build up inside of you and make you ill. You can reinforce this daily in meditation, as all types of fields like this need reinforcement.

OTHER FORMS OF PROTECTION FOR YOUR HOME,ROOM OR PERSONAL SPACE.
Another simple method is to put a line of salt around the area to be protected. Salt acts as a natural barrier, grounding out negative influences that flow across it. Put it across your doorway. If you don't want to be so obvious, stir the salt in water and cast it. Use regular non iodized salt, not sea salt. You want salt from the earth.

GROUNDING OUT NEGATIVITY OR EXCESS ENERGY FROM YOUR BODY
You can place your hands on the ground or imagine that you are putting down roots through the bottom of your feet, going deep into the earth. Imagine the surplus of energy or the negativity returning to the earth from which it came through these imaginary roots or through your hands you have placed on the ground.

This works as well with overwhelming emotions, even anger, ground them out into the earth.

Simple meditation is effective, added with some goodies. Burning sage or incense to clear out residual negative energies that occupy you or any space..

Myrrh-for healing
Sandalwood – sandalwood incense has protective properties
Frankincense – frankincense incense is a great "clearing" incense
Lavender – lavender incense is great for lifting your mood, this makes you feel more comfortable.
Gardenia- is great for peace and tranquility
Lemongrass – lemongrass incense has a fresh, clean scent that can help enhance your mental awareness.

You can also use "Access Consciousness" and return what is sent your way back to the sender, with full conscious awareness attached.

There's no sugar coating anything.

However, this fear-based ideology some of the metaphysical people today preach is quite unsettling.  Actually, it's downright crazy.  Fear is a state of mind... all this preaching of PROTECT YOURSELF-this and PROTECT YOURSELF-that only serves to further confuse and bring about fear in others.  Stop it.  Stop feeding the fear.  Stop being part of the problem and become part of the solution.

How about *MY* experience... 32 years worth, in which I've *N E V E R* had any issues with ANYTHING related to this subject happen!

I'm certainly nobody special, I can guarantee that.  So what causes me to not have to worry about this stuff?

This is what --> *KNOW* you're safe, and you will never have to ever worry again.

Just to let you know I am in no way "Fear-Mongering". There's two extreme opposites to these idealogys. One of course, is the Love & light crusaders, and the other your more familiar with the Doomsday naysayers lol.

I'm just keeping a grounded and realistic approach through my experience & knowledge. I don't subscribe to either of those ways of thinking by the way...

But In order to discuss this we have to be on the same page of what we are both talking about and thinking metaphysically to of course be on the same track of mind with one another.

In the Saddarmapundarika Sutra (aka "The Lotus Sutras")..there is a story of a student telling Shakyamuni Buddha "how do you handle difficult situations when people ignore the truth in a dangerous situation..."

And the Buddha replied...to the effect of " You make incredible promises to them, you promise them toys, and delicious food, and so on.... but it is outside the burning building...and you get them to leave the burning building.....still happy and still unknowing of the real danger.....usually some time later they figure it out..."

If one works with Magick, or spirit communication often, they do need protection, no if's, ands, or butts about it.

It's not an Idealogy of "FEAR" it's an Idealogy of common sense and whats laid out right in front of us. The metaphysical world is as dangerous as the cold harsh physical reality we live in. I'm not quite fond of telling people they shouldn't protect themselves, before they mess with certain things, that's just like telling someone they shouldn't go see a doctor, and I take it very seriously. The same can be said reversed with this Ideology of "Unconditional love" or to the affects of "nothing will ever harm you" "The universe Loves you! <3 :-)" (Mind you I'm not speaking of AP here). It really does disappoint me to see people post things in such a laid back non-chalant, nothing can ever harm you 100% manner, while you leave out the cons, negatives, or opposites. That's a very disastrous way of thinking and can get many people severely hurt or killed.

That's all I ask, just keep it real, and keep it balanced.

But There is real nastiness that exists out there in the world, where humans will use physical and non-physical means to phase you. Whether you realize it or not, a lot of people do get mental/psychic attacks, and are exposed, or vulnerable and they are very unaware of the sources of which they came from!! It is NOT a result or manifestation of there "beliefs" and expectations!! Some people are more susceptible  then others due to there natural sensitivity to energies. It can make them ill, or cause chaos internally. Chaos internally to a point not even medications will help them, no matter how much they think "happy things".  I've seen this, It's very real and one must exercise caution.

Besides attacks, it doesn't always need to be attacks, one can also block themselves off from the thoughts of others. If one is an empath, they should definitely learn to ground or shield themself ONLY to filter and moderate the amount of energy exchanges they may or may not have control over when in interaction & dialogue with individuals, such as feeling another persons emotions, or getting a sense of what they are thinking. It does NOT make this energy exchange "good" or "bad" it's only depends how much the empath can take or handle.

It really sucks if your that sensitive, that someone else s feelings can have a large drastic non-physical affect on you, that you under-go assuming there thoughts, emotions and mental state, not only up close but even from a distance. This is where shielding and grounding can be quite useful.

I don't have to "believe" in this stuff in order for it to affect me or anyone for that matter. I been there, done that, with many different belief systems. That's nonsense and contradictory at it's core IMO.

Mind you, one doesn't need to just use shields to "protect" themselves, but it can also be used to repel certain negative individuals they dislike or are a bad influence. It can be used for many things, intents, and purposes.

Dont think I'm spreading fear. I care about people enough on this Board to be concerned for them to not go through half the sh*t I had to go through and having to have had figure out stuff the hard way.

Still luv ya tho Xanth <3

The only warning I feel people need about Astral Travel is to make sure you are really ready to bring this into your life. It will completely change your view on just about everything you know up to this point. It changed my view on religion, ritual magick, death, basically everything in my life in general. I have seen relationships break up because of the change it has made in people, occupation changes, basically your entire ideology. Even the masters like Tom Campbell, Zurgen, Bob Monroe, Robert Bruce and many others will tell you this. Everything in your life has to do with your belief system, if people wish to think people are out to get them or control them, than that will become a focal point in  their lives. Life is what you make of it, so live it and stop worrying. Energy is everywhere, positive/negative it's all there, it's how you  respond to it that identifies your being.

Yes astral traveling has in a sense reinforced my suspicions of stuff I already knew, but it hasnt dramatically altered my perceptions. Other things besides astral travel have.  But generally speaking I'm not speaking of astral traveling at all. There are things that can still affect an individual outside of there "belief system" and awareness of it.  That's where these so called "masters" have it all wrong. If they are fine and content with there belief systems and there way of thinking, then all I can do is respect them and wish them well on it. I understand they are "scientists" in there line of work and have to keep things "objective". Ignorance is bliss after all.

I have tons of proofs and anecdotes to back up my claims. So your "belief system" is a manifestation of everything, then what isn't a manifestation besides the human spirit? I don't get it. Belief systems are filters, filters on how you perceive, they don't literally control anything and everything that happens to an individual...

Some things in life you have to ask yourself "What came first? The chicken or the egg?"

Sometimes it's the chicken, sometimes it's the egg. The Chicken Nor the egg does not come about Every single time. Period.

Paranoid people always believe everyone and everything is out to get them. Their life is normally a life of chaos, they are always waiting for something bad to happen. They are creating their own reality period. The average Joe doesn't think like that and therefore is happy with their life. There is a famous adage that "what you don't know won't hurt you".

Who's talking about paranoia? We may be thinking and talking about entirely different things, as they are people who really do suffer real attacks from the paranormal world, and I'm defending all those people right now, because most are too afraid to speak up, post here or anywhere or share there experiences with anybody in real life because materialists, religious people, and new agers alike are so quick to cast massive judgment, or assumptions, instead of observing, learning, and intuiting, the majority thinking and opinion will step all over them.

I'm very familiar with the "Everything is subjective" point of view, matter of fact I used to subscribe to it, until something rocked the foundations of my world recently. I cant go back to that way of thinking, nothing makes sense under it.

First of all, people under this type of thinking seem to ALWAYS make the assumption that all individuals are creating there own fears, attacks, and nightmares, that it really limits the way they can offer help to a person. It's entirely not true and it's not fair for them.

Matter of fact this is an argument that can fuel up materialism. "Believe it and it will be real, but it's really non-existent"

Sound familiar?

Okay, everything is not real then.

We on a quantum level have the power to affect each others reality's, and I know this for a fact. I may be barking up the wrong forum, because I know nobody here will agree with me anyways...

I know for a fact, when I had my spirit problems, attacking my friends, family, girlfriend, neighbors, I could not worth a damn rely on anyone on this forum or anywhere on the internet to help me out.

"It's in your head."

"your creating it"

"Stop believing it exists and the attacks will stop."

Yeah. Real helpful thanks... I've heard it all already.

Like really? If it wasn't for a few psychic mediums who crossed my path and noticed what was going on with me without solicitation of something directly affecting me, I would be freaking dead right now. That's right, dead. No Exaggeration either because I actually have so much to back me up on this, and I'm not just saying it.. They never once told me it was in my head. Because they saw her too.

THIS changed the way I see the world, because it showed me while peoples belief systems can differ and filter an experience, it in no way changes the experience nor the source from that which it has came.

Sorry but it's hard for me to grasp that ALL "bad" things happen because you wanted or expected them to be that way. It's false.

Killa, do you consciously aware project or phase? If you did you would find the meaning of thought = action. It just happens slower here, we are always taught that if you put your mind to something, nothing can stop you. Positive thinking triumphs over all period! Right now there is a gentleman on Coast to Coast AM radio talking about the fact that he was ill for many years. He was taking vitamin supplements and pharmaceutical medicine every day and getting sicker. Always worrying what was going to happen next. Then he met a guy that told him to smoke 2 cigarettes a day, eat red meat and have a couple of glasses of wine a day. He now is healthy as a horse again, no pills, no vitamins. He realized only then that he commands what happens to him. Once he took back control from all these others, meaning doctors/vitamins/medicine he saw that he ruled his own destiny.

Lionheart with all due respect I know exactly where your coming from with your perception, as it can apply to some cases which may be metaphysical related or not,  but of course I cant help but feel to reinforce clarity in restating myself that we are approaching different discussions and mixing them up without addressing the real problems.

Of course I have had successful conscious phasing. I'm actually quite good at it. But  Your entirely missing the point. This has nothing to do with OBE's at all. Your throwing everyone on the same bandwagon, and thus implying people who have had no control over things happening to them in there life and minds to be delusional, again that's very unfair especially when it comes to the metaphysical. Sorry to break it to you, but not everything is love & light. This universe has and always been about survival of the fittest.

Positive thinking alone does not always triumph, sorry but I disagree with this. (This does not make me a fear monger but a realist)

If only it were that easy.

Not everyone on this earth has had an OBE or AP, or LD... OBE/AP are not the all end of everything metaphysical & the truth of experience.

The same way materialists will cast judgment upon us, is the same way this ideology is casting judgment upon everything else. You cannot control things outside of you. You can to an extent depending on what it is, but we would have to split that hair by hair to be more precise wouldn't we? :-P

Fact is from my observation no one on this forum knows what it feels like to be spiritually possessed or have a spirit attached to them,( I DO!) no one.  Yet it's assumed those things only happen if a person "believes" it can happen. False, and dangerous thinking as well. Does anyone even want me to go into detail with this? We can argue this all we want all day  in a separate thread more suitable.

Very few here have the knowledge to openly discuss Magickal Practices and how it correlates with metaphysical theories already brought up. I'm neutral on my stance on it, as this can be debatable in a healthy exchange & fun fashion.  :-)

I'm sure very few here if at all  have actually been in the crossfire of negative intent/energy directed AT YOU. Whether it be Psychic attacks, or dark magick, or simply "willing" harm upon another.

All these are not manifestations, and depending on the severity's, an individual(self) is limited in controlling it.

Mind you I'm not going around saying these things are going to happen to anyone on this forum, I'm only bringing up the reality that they do in fact happen. Everyday, somewhere, sometime.

That's funny that you are talking magic now, which is all about creating thoughtforms. I have been an avid practitioner of magick for over 20 years now. Until I realized that it is completely based on intent, the rituals were just for my own mental preparation for my level of focus. I lived with a lady before that had a Demon inside her, but this was due to her choosing. In her youth she was not as attractive as her sister. Her sister got good grades, handsome0me boyfriends, etc., everything that she wanted. So she turned to the Necronomicon to have the spirits aide her. Unbeknownst to her, she was working alongside demons. She then landed the man she thought she had wanted, except he used to pin her down and inject her with heroin and whatever else he could get his hands on. After living with her for 6 months I had to say good bye to her, the evil permeating through her was too much for me. The first time I laid my eyes on her I was caught in her web. Actually she started to work for me and the first thing she did on the first day of work is to steal my companies money, this was after she had a couple of beers. She was a completely different person while sober, well that was at the beginning. One drink is all it took to start seeing the evil, that is why I first brought her for medical help. I have known people that had allergies to alcohol and it had adverse effects on them. I thought she might be one of them. Anyways, what I am trying to say is this was her choice. A lot of the things we experience in life are of our own choice. We chose them even before we were here on earth. Listen to Tom Campbell, he has done a lot of research in this field. Sure there is bad entities in the Astral, but they leave you alone if they notice you are on a higher level then them. The dark entities are found on the lowest level of the Astral. Knowledge is the best defense against anything.
For over 20 years I travelled the United States, I met people who had problems in their lives and stayed with them until the problem was solved. Some were spousal abuse situations, some recent suicide, alot of them severe depression and then the one possession. I found that everyone of these people subconsciously put themselves in their dilemma. Woman that were abused would have every man they meet be an abuser. Suicides could have been prevented, but no body wanted to help when signs were there. People that were in severe depressions put themselves in those circumstances by the lifestyle or situations that they chose. It was easy for me because I was an outsider, looking in. I could see the patterns, the toughest thing was convincing them of the solutions. I chose this life as a wanderer as well. When I met my better half here (we have been together for 12 years now and I am still not married but that's the life of a wanderer) she was just coming out of a bad marriage. I aided her however I could and after a year things were better, so I was ready to move on until I met another wanderer in Minneapolis, Mn. He told me that he spent most of his life as I did too, but chose to leave that for a wife and kids and was very happy with his decision. So I stopped and stayed with Mary Jo. She told me that I have healed others all my life and now it is time for my healing. It took me a full year before I unpacked my suitcase. Today I find that I can help others, but from the anonymity of this home. My friends say I should make videos to aide people, to put a face to the words. But I feel that is ego speaking. I aide others by my choice, when I have the time, I make no money and don't wish compensation for what I do. Every dragon sculpture that we create here is to bring good things into other people's lives. I own nothing but the clothes on my back, my laxman and a couple of other tech gadgets. MJ owns the home, the vehicles, the company and I have never had a problem with that. So when you say I don't understand the way life is, you are sorely mistaken.

How did you determine this, and what is the deciding factor for YOU between "thought form", spirit, entity or passed relative? Are they "thought forms" to you too? There's a clear distinct difference between a construct and spirit or entity, and one must in fact know the difference if they are experienced in mediumship or communicating with beings often.

I know the difference and I'm confident in my ability in distinguishing as well as every real medium I have ever came across.

How is it possible that other clairvoyant people can objectively perceive these so called "thought forms" and how is it possible these "thought forms" have any affect on the physical tangible environment?

How do mere Thought forms make physical objects float or break things anyway?

You can "program" a tulpa, and it will be nothing more similar to A.I in function, behavior, and mannerisms. Because that is what it quite literally is, on a non-physical level.  I'm very familiar with the practice in creating tulpas. But In no way is it an actual being from another realm that carries it's own thought process, free will, feelings, agenda, life, spirit, instinct, essence etc.

Quote
I have been an avid practitioner of magick for over 20 years now. Until I realized that it is completely based on intent, the rituals were just for my own mental preparation for my level of focus.

Of course it's about intent, It's always been about intent, that's the whole purpose. Minds have great significance in this universe, and they also have significance on other minds. Science is slow on catching up with this, as usual seemingly. It was always about resolve. One can have the power to manipulate energies and use it to enhance there life, bless others, help others, or invade others. It's what you do with it. It's power that should be used responsibly if one is an adept and not be taken lightly.

I think we have our situations reversed however, you said it took you aping to change your perceptions on everything you see in life, it didn't take me until getting possessed to change everything how I see life he he. I was not possessed by a Demonic Entity however which makes your friends situation and mines different.

If you do admit that other entities exist regardless of what you think there purpose is or how they function, then sure I Will give you that one, I'm not in charge of what you believe, as I'm sure you have your reasons, and as do I.

But with everything else, with all due sensitivity to your friends situation, I still have to respectfully disagree. When one is truly possessed or borderline possessed in every sense of the word, the will and the mind is not entirely there own. You cant convince that person that such a being is a projection of there own mind or doesn't exist. They will look at YOU like your crazy. It's awkward as hell to hear voices and thoughts in your head, you know are not coming from yourself. They are being received.

No amount of Positive thoughts and saying "you don't exist" will not get rid of it, you can try to calm a person down, but not get rid of it, because it doesn't change the real fact that the spirit is actually still merged with the person. It actually needs to be removed properly from an external process and the victim cannot do this alone.. It does not matter if one believes they exist or not, because it makes no difference when you actually have a spirit attached.

I never believed in that stuff either, nor have I ever saw it coming from a mile away when it happened to me. If you consider it , I am living proof that you don't need to believe in something in order to create it, while most people on this forum will say or think otherwise. To each there own.

You think I believed in all that stuff before? Hell No. I was the "creator" of my reality I believed myself to be after all. You think I sought out or wanted for an entity to attach me? Did I want my girlfriend to get attacked? My poor girlfriend didn't even have no knowledge of me having anything around me at the time,(While I knew) and yet she was attacked endlessly. She had to find this out the hard way. Not a projection of her mind, nor wanting anything, if what I had around me effected her unknowingly.

How does something in my head anyways have a clear and obvious effect on the people around me that they end up sharing my experiences, when they have no knowledge prior of an entity being attached to me? How does something in my head break things in my house? How can other people actually see what's in my head anyways?

Intuition? Clairvoyance? Clear seeing? Luck? Coincidence? Denial? Or is it beating a dead horse from knowing what's right in front of you? I don't beat dead horses. I don't need to be in denial or "uncertain" about my paranormal experiences. I stand by them 200%, and I'm very certain, unlike most that hold a "Middle ground" between belief and disbelief. I have no reason to doubt, nor fear after I've had my confirmations. It's truly life changing.

I've been around the block a few times with experiencing altered states of consciousness too and researching it in-depth. I am not slightly convinced otherwise to change how I perceive the nature of the metaphysical universe to be in relation towards human consciousness and humanity's place in the "bigger picture". Knowing what's happened to me has drastically changed my life for the better in a way once the storms have passed (Because I now KNOW these things are real.), to a point I am now devoting my life to helping people who can not find help, because mostly no one else can.

I grow wiser, and stronger because of experience, as we do all.

In a nutshell however all any learned person can do is share their volume of wisdom with you, and all you can do is process what is given to you & determine what is real or not for yourself. I dont form my "beliefs" with the mindset nor assumptions, that all people are responsible for negative things that happen to them. I know better then that, and I have strong valid reasons for this.
For those who believe, no explanation is necessary. For those who do not, none will suffice. ~Joseph Dunninger

Rican-It does suck being that sensitive towards others & seems to make it twice as hard to block. I never had a problem blocking this until my life was interrupted by a group that forces you (your being-or how ever one would view your astral self) out of your body! Astral projection was NOT by choice for me & others I know being affected.
LionHeart- Not perniod.. Just ruthless people exist who feel they are above the law.

Lionheart

Listen to the stories of people that are coming here, not one of them has initiated the Astral Process. It normally happened to them as a spontaneous event. With most people their first memories of projection come during childhood. On this site we learn to consciously aware project. But for most of us our first event happened with totally no control involved. For years I was confused when I would awaken frozen in bed (sleep Paralysis) or vibrating with some feeling that something sinister is lurking in the shadows. I have even heard people that dubbed this as the "shadow men". It is easy to see how this could make you feel like you are being attacked. There is a purpose when the Astral beckons you, now you have to lose the fear and find out what that purpose is. It's always different for everyone. But, if you expect to see evil in that darkness, than that is exactly what will be there. There are ruthless people here as well and we have the choice of dealing with them or ignoring them.

Mmm. Well this could make for an interesting branch off discussion in another thread.   But I think all of us should get back on topic to what the original intention of what the thread was about, before we go around in circles hehe. We all have strong views and opinions, that make us unique to who we are.

Some people come to this forum for  more then just OBE, I know I do. A thread about psychic protection should stick to tips & suggestions on shielding alone. It's unfair for readers or lurkers who really are looking for tips to shield themselves. This is the "Psychic & Paranormal" section after all.  :-)

Everyone has the right to share there opinion, but I think it should remain with the confines with what the OP is inquiring about. If someone were to make a thread about "How can I contact my spirit guide?" I don't go around saying " lol Spirit guides are nothing more then a fabrications, a construct of a lonely depraved mind." my opinion didnt really help the OP at all towards what he was inquiring about, thus the thread has a lot of potential for backlash as people will read what I said as being deliberately provocative towards those who work with spirit guides..

I work closely researching and studying up close and personal, different aspects of the paranormal, ideas, theory's, and concepts that would often be ridiculed and rejected around here, because it's stuff people don't normally want to hear or fit into there world view.

I'll be honest I don't really have a "pretty" universal view like most, but that's because I embraced my shadow self. I can see and understand things from the standpoint of what the Light cant understand about the darkness, and from what the darkness cant understand about the light. It doesn't mean I accept the extremity end of either.

Lionheart, I hope I didnt come off as "assertive" or "douchy" I'm just extremely passionate about the paranormal and things I'm devoting my life to. No hard feelings. *hugs!*

The truth cometh."I'll be honest I don't really have a "pretty" universal view like most, but that's because I embraced my shadow self." Ok, I agree, lets get back on topic. I just saw that what cwatson said about not choosing the Astral it came to him or her, that that is what happens to everyone intially. I have devoted my life to the Paranomal as well and it wasn't initially my choice either. But you can find the answers you are looking for in the Astral, you just need to ask.
End of topic for me.
Good Luck!  :-)

Listen to the stories of people that are coming here, not one of them has initiated the Astral Process. It normally happened to them as a spontaneous event. With most people their first memories of projection come during childhood. On this site we learn to consciously aware project. But for most of us our first event happened with totally no control involved.

I've been on this site for over 8 years and from what I've seen, most people have belief, yet start with no experience. There are some who have had spontaneous experiences, but I wouldn't go as far and say "most", or assume most people's experiences are similar to yours. If anything, it seems that peoples' reason for being here and their experiences vary so much that opinions on the subject vary as well (like in this thread). There just isn't a standard that you can go by.
