It says students lack empathy compared to their elder counterparts.

If emotional and sense memories are what move reality (and facilitate OBEs/APs) and the kids of today are lacking that ability to call up emotional memories then I see that as evidence of de-evolution.

Are we failing as a species?

Are we being intentionally manipulated by an external source.
be awesome.

CFTraveler

I think we're being manipulated intentionally, but not by an external source.

I'd say I'm a rather empathetic college age person, if resonating with an emotion sending rushes of energy through out your body making the hair on your arms stand on end due to the static electricity created that basically makes you feel as though you just exploded counts. I'm different than most people though..

personalreality

that happened to me at work the other day.

i was charging a piece of amethyst and got a rush of energy that made the hair on my arm stand up and gave me a shock.

It's true that many parents aren't stepping up to the plate but we must be careful to not use too wide of a brush.  It's all in their learning of lessons, in my opinion.  Hell, had I not been abused all of my childhood, teen years, and in some of my adolescence years, I would not know how to NOT treat my children.  I learned a long time ago, kids deserve respect, just as I wanted it in return.

You have parents that haven't grown up themselves, ones that think it's cool to drink with their kids, ones who totally ignore them, ones who use them as cooks, and maids, ones who are living vicariously..etc. The list goes on and on.

Who read that news story about the bleached filled water balloon being thrown at a 14yr?  Those kids are lacking empathy.  And who knows why.. but it certainly can't be good.

I may not get up EVERY morning and thank God for the wonderful kids I have, but I sure do it at least three times a week!

A general lack of love, attention and guidance is happening, but I believe for a bigger reason.

I only paint with wide brushes.  ;)

We were discussing this very topic here in the office last Friday.
We were discussing about the parents who try to be their child's best friend... we agreed that if YOU are their best friend, then who exactly is their parent?
Like... seriously... you *CAN NOT* be your child's friend.  Not possible.  Not if you wanna be a good parent.

people are developmentally retarded.  they don't know how to adapt and thus encourage their child to do the same.

the problem is that they are trying to form their child into what they think is right instead of encouraging their child to discover on their own what is right.

I meant no offense, Ryan.  :-)  I agree one needs to be the parent and you can't act like a child yourself, must have boundaries.

If you look at creation on a time line this seems to be the case.
Dinosaurs-reptilians
Old souls that are powerful and instinctual.
Look at mammals.
They play around and bask in the sun.
Nature learning
They still have there own gifts and talents.
Some of the newest is the most useful.

Maybe, but I am not sure if this is a new trend. People have been saying this since at least the 20's.

I am sure reflections like this probably come from older people taking a general survey of what they remember about their own childhoods, filtered by time and other factors of selective forgetfullness, and comparing these reveries to sets of isolated anecdotal incidents from the news, MTV, and watching kids at the store.

I am not saying that kids today are not insolent, capricious, etc... but rather that it is not a new development. I am sure people in the Renaissance said the same things about little Lorenzo and Giaccomo.

I'm not talking about whether kids are still brats and little shi*s.  Kids are always assholes.

I believe emotional energy is the basis for exploration of reality and the manipulation of ones environment.

If kids are lacking emotional intelligence more so now than in the past then they are less capable of developing spiritually.

I'm talking about kids not being able to undertake ontological development.
