Sounds like something tension related. They are hard to diagnose and even harder to cure with surgery
Check into the Alexander method, might help you.
NOTE!! Im not a doc so this isn't medical advise. 'nuff said.

well i'm really a newbie, so...what is the Alexander theory? mind, i have not read the Robert bruce books yet, but i plan to very very soon.[:I]
thank u for your insite, by the way, pardon my (crappy) manners...
*method, not theory...i'm too intertwinded with my mythology homework....
It's a technique that's designed to reduce excessive tensions and their side-effects through modifying the body posture to be always at a minimun tension. The theory behind is that a ot of what ails us can be traced back to wrong body postures and ther resulting tension.
If you have drama or dance teachers handy ask. Especially actors use Alexander technique a lot.
Also do a quick google on "Alexander technique"

If you dont mind me asking what have the doctors told you so far, what kind of surgery was performed and what tests have been done? And are you on any meds?
ok, if you really WANT to know, this might take a while...
at first the doctors thought it was a bad bacterial infection. They prescribed antibiotics five times...nothing of that nature helped. But that was just a M.D. So I went to a head, nose, and throat specialist...though most of the pain at that point was in my neck...but we'll let that pass. He just told me to use scalene nose spray along with Rhinocort...which is an allergy spray...along with aleve and sudafed each morning (oh, i forgot to mention that NO painkillers have ever helped with this. we've tried advil, tylenol, excedrin, aleve, sudafed, benadryl, and generic stuff...). None of that helped. So we went back to him again. He said that I shoul seriously consider getting my tonsils out. So I did. This was the surgery I was talking about, and it wasn't anything serious. I was out of school for only a week. That was...::counting::a month and ten days ago. If you want to be exact: and 4 hours. [;)] well, now here i stand...i have another M.D. appointment next week. I'm on a prescription painkiller (which doesn't help) with a name that i can't pronounce or spell. The only thing that EVER helped me was something like reiki that my friend performed on me...and now you understand why I'm getting into it. They did a WHOLE lot of testing, though...meningitis, mononucleosis, cancer (yay! i don't have cancer!), brain tumor, pneumonia (x-ray was involved in that), and so many others but I forget most of them...
thanks for listening, guys, i really appreciate it.
Looks like all the serious causes have been ruled out.
I'd still suspect a tension related cause due to the pain being in the neck area. This is usually where this type of headache originates.
They are typical for people who sit at their work, such as typists, us comp guys etc. Anything conductive for a bad posture and contracted upper body muscles, especially in the shoulders, neck and jaw areas. They are also ahrd to detect by any test per se but are rather diagnosed by ruling out every other cause.
Another indicaiton is the lack of response to the usual painkillers. The meds work more on the nervous system but since the tension headaches are caused by muscles and a resulting stress on the neck and head their effect is usually fairly negligible.
Since you have an appointment I'd ask him about possible tension related causes.
NOTE! I'm not a doc so there.

my mom is pinned on thre subject of allergies...food allergies, now. i don't think that's it. I'll ask my doctor about it. Thanks!
Hey Jamie. Next time we see each other at practice, i'll help you again... * Is the friend that had helped her with her pain *
At each practice from here on, I'll try to help you for a little while. That should help out for a little while, until you learn to use NEW, in which you can help yourself out aswell.
Have you ever tried Chiropractic? They have helped me in the past.

well i have considered it but my insurance doesn't cover it and i hear they can be quite expensive. thus, no chiropractor is going to touch me unless i can conjure up big, big bucks...and i'm too young to be able to do that...legally...heh heh.

Hello my name's jamie. I've been having headaches and pain in my neck for...::counting::...exactly five months. I get the occasional throat pain, too...and it has been puzzling doctors for so long, it's scary. even surgery hasn't helped. the only thing that ever helped was a time when my friend did something similar to Reiki to me. Now I am desperately seeking the source of astral and mental energies to help me get rid of these horrible headaches once and for all.
