Title: Muslim Fundementalism
Post by: Mustardseed on February 14, 2005, 22:07:37
I just had the most surprising experience. My room mate is a Muslim and asked me to talk to some fellow Muslim friends of his he had invited socially. After having tea they started a virtual "conversion barrage" and absolutely buried me under arguments after arguments in the most aggressive and unfair way. Mocking christianity and democracy etc. The aim was to convert me to the Muslim faith.

After having sat there for a couple of hours stunned that my friend had set the whole thing up, and after having been spiritually drained by 4 guys all very aggressive (and actually come to think of it quite hateful) I was able to "escape", by claiming having to pick someone up at the train station. It was a most enlightening experience. I found out they are members of a semi militant Muslim faction in my country being investigated for links to terrorism.

All that to say that manipulation conversion and spiritual abuse is not only a Evangelical "virtue" nor is it only practiced by Mormons or JWs it is alive and vibrant in the Muslim community as well.

Whoa, that sounds harsh.

I am glad you left.

I have some muslim friends and I know they are not like that. (If they were, they would not be my friends.)

Those kind of fundementalists have given up their humanity completely to a twisted screwed up VERSION of a religion. I feel sorry for them, but I cannot help the burst of anger that I feel also, even though I should know better.  Those sorts of people do nothing positive for anyone not even themselves.
