The Serpent's Gift

Look not the serpent in the eye,
For if you do then you must die,
His coils are wrap't about your soul,
His eyes are bright as smold'ring coals,
Of lust and knowledge does he give,
To partake of them is to live,
And bite of the forbidden fruit,
With whose seeds, a new tree takes root.

Breathe not of this most hallowed air,
If all you return is despair,
And follow in the serpent's path,
Unless you fear the blank sky's wrath,
For the adversary speaks true,
And though his words are all taboo,
And but a dream and nothing more,
Their candor you cannot ignore.

Look to the Morning Star my friend,
For the passageway to ascend,
The words are writ for all to read,
Imploring us to plant the seed,
Of man's divinity and light,
That fire waiting to ignite,
Stolen from within heaven's hall,
And a gift now to one and all.

For beneath heaven lies the Earth,
Ravaged by man, tempest and dearth,
Is this the hell Lucifer chose?
Are we the thorns upon this rose?
Questions such as these fill the air,
Across the world, everywhere,
The lips which ask them come and go,
Whimsical as the winds that blow.
