Some of the books on yoga I have read have said that the inverted asanas have helped with both tinnitus and vision. This is also due to the improved circulation. The more inverted the better, but even postures such as forward bends where the head is below the heart and the body is relaxed have some of the benefits. Another approach is to place a board at an angle such as pi/4 radians (45 degrees) and rest on it with the feet on the higher end and the head on the lower end.

http://www.emofree.com has a FREE MANUAL that will help with this ... as well as a case study at http://www.emofree.com/cases/progresstinnitus.htm

Read through the manual to learn the process.  Also, check out the other various case studies on Gary's website.

Cheers!

Thanks guys!
I'll certainly experiment with those things.

I found this website that offers homoepathic remedies for tinnitus. I thought I'd post a link for anyone else who has the ailment.
//www.t-gone.com

The guy(Dr) sounds like he certainly knows what he's talking about. Listed are 10 different types of tinnitus, and guidlines so you can figure out which specific one(s) you have. The type I have is obvious: from 'loud noise exposure'.

If I recall correctly, they claim a 75% complete success rate. And for the remainder, a guaranteed reduction in sound volume by at least 75%

I'm not sure I'm willing to fork out the money for a remedy just yet. But it's nice to know that there is that to fall back on if all else fails.

Wow, some really interesting links. Thanks guys!

As a musician (ok ok ok, I'm a guitar player, its almost the same thing lol) I've long suffered. Always told by DR's and other people who claim to be "in the know" that there is no cure. Definatly stuff worth checking out.

I brought up this subject in alpha's thread "ahh my ear" but i figured I may as well start a new one, as I'm sure there would be many others who have this annoying condition - very common among musicians etc.

So as far as I know it has something to do with the tiny hairs inside the ears which pick up vibrations and translate it to sound being damaged - forgive the overly simplistic expaination- and because of this, the working hairs become overly sensitive in order to compensate, and this is what creates the ringing.
Feel free to correct me if you have a better understanding.

So, the question, how can this be fixed?
Some say there is no cure for tinnitus. Most people have experienced it at least some time in their life - after being at a loud concert etc - and it will have gone within a couple of days, but for those of us who experience it permanently - I've had it for over a year now - there seems to be virtually nothing at all in the way of medical help.

If you look into alternative medicine there are some things that are said to help: ginko biloba, ear candles, and so on. Its my understanding that the reason these things are said to work is because they promote blood circulation (ear candles specifically around ear area). Taking this into account, one could assume that gaining perfect blood circulation in the ear area, and stimulating all the right glands etc, the damaged hairs could become functional again and "wella" blissful silence.

I have tried ginko biloba and ear candles, plus a couple of other things, all to no great avail. But still I utterly refuse the idea that I will have to live with this for the rest of my life. Surely it can be fixed.
Please post any information you know of concerning this condition. And anything which you think may help obliviate it. Who else here experiences tinnitus?

All responses will be much appreciated http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile.gif" border=0>
