Aristoles

As a stone,falling trough water.
Life is fast and short.
When you reach the bottom, and your life has ended.
What will your life achieve?

*And For No Reason*

And
For no reason
I start skipping like a child.

And
For no reason
I turn into a leaf
That is carried so high
I kiss the sun's mouth
And dissolve.

And
For no reason
A thousand birds
Choose my head for a conference table,
Start passing their
Cups of wine
And their wild songbooks all around.

And
For every reason in existence
I begin to eternally,
To eternally laugh and love!

When I turn into a leaf
And start dancing,
I run to kiss our beautiful Friend
And I dissolve in the Truth
That I Am.

A THOUSAND BEAUTIFUL THINGS

Every day I write the list
of reasons why I still believe they do exist
       (a thousand beautiful things)
and even though it's hard to see
the glass is full and not half empty
          (a thousand beautiful things)

So . ..  light me up like the sun
to cool down with your rain
I never want to close my eyes again
            never close my eyes
                  never close my eyes . . .

I thank you for the air to breathe
             the heart to beat
                   the eyes to see again
     (a thousand beautiful things)
And all the things that's been and done
             the battle's won
the good and bad in everything
                     (this is mine to remember)
                      So . . .

Here I go again
            singin by your window
pickin up the pieces of what's left to find

The world was meant for you and me
                 to figure out our destiny
         (a thousand beautiful things)
to live
          to die
to breathe
                      to sleep
to try to make your life complete
                   (yea yea)
                     so . . .

Light me up like the sun
to cool down with your rain
I never want to close my eyes again
            never close my eyes
                  never close my eyes
                        never close my eyes . . .

That is everything I have to say
(that is all I have to say)

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.
But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

The Power of Love

I'll protect you from the hooded claw
Keep the vampires from your door
Feels like fire
I'm so in love with you

Dreams are like angels
They keep bad at bay-bad at bay
Love is the light
Scaring darkness away-yeah
I'm so in love with you
Burns the soul
Make love your goal

The power of love
A force from above
Cleaning my soul
Flame on burn desire
Love with tongues of fire
Burns the soul
Make love your goal

I'll protect you from the hooded claw
Keep the vampires from your door
When the chips are down I'll be around
With my undying, death-defying
Love for you

Envy will hurt itself
Let yourself be beautiful
Sparkling love, flowers
And pearls and pretty girls
Love is like an energy
Rushin' rushin' inside of me

The power of love
A force from above
Cleaning my soul
Flame on burn desire
Love with tongues of fire
Burns the soul
Make love your goal

This time we go sublime
Lovers entwine-divine divine
Love is danger, love is pleasure
Love is pure-the only treasure
I'm so in love with you
Burns the soul
Make love your goal

The power of love
A force from above
Cleaning my soul

The power of love
A force from above
A sky-scraping dove

Flame on burn desire
Love with tongues of fire
Burns the soul
Make love your goal

I'll protect you from the hooded claw
Keep the vampires from your door

The Still Point
by T.S. Eliott

At the still point of the turning world
neither from nor toward,
at the still point there the dance is
but neither arrest nor movement.

And do not call it fixity
where past and future are gathered
neither movement from nor toward,
neither ascent nor decline.

The inner freedom from practical desire
the release from action and suffering
release from the inner and outer compulsion
surrounded by a grace of sense
a white light still and moving.

Except for the point -- the still point,
there would be no dance
and there is only the dance.

Salaam,
Radha

I thought we could take a moment and post the poetry that means the most to us, from a magical perspective.

To begin, I'm going to post a song from a play, Cirque du Soleil.  It captures pretty well my feelings about the need for focus, surrender, and sacrifice (to the irrevocable changes), the deeper one delves into magic:

Let Me Fall
*James Corcoran and Jutras Benoit

Let me fall
Let me climb
There's a moment when fear
And dreams must collide

Someone I am
Is waiting for courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me

So let me fall
If I must fall
I won't heed your warnings
I won't hear them

Let me fall
If I fall
Though the phoenix may
Or may not rise

I will dance so freely
Holding on to no one
You can hold me only
If you too will fall
Away from all these
Useless fears and chains

Someone I am
Is waiting for my courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me

So let me fall
If I must fall
I won't heed your warning
I won't hear

Let me fall
If I fall
There's no reason
To miss this one chance
This perfect moment
Just let me fall [/b]
