Entangled pairs are clearly some form of redundancy based error detection algorithm. So messing with them is likely to get you corrected. The GBSIS (Great Big Sysop In the Sky) will send a few nanoboots too kick you like a busted TV.

Maybe all we are is what becomes of a sandwich left to do its thing in the sun?

Yep, I like the redundancy based error detection idea.
Clearly I've got to get away from this "desktop computing" view of the simulation. Maybe the Jurassic period was run on a desktop machine. The dinosaurs weren't made extinct by a comet collision, somebody kicked the power cord out of the back!

I wonder if demons are something we should be banishing, or just leave them alone to keep certain processes running.Thats the real reason behind global warming! One overenthusiastic priest and the weather patterns start going haywire. We're just waiting for the occultists to respawn the right process.

Either that or the Sysop has fallen asleep

Hee the Jurassic period as well as most of the prehistory is just part of the bootstrap process. Digging through the startup logs is what turns up all the skeletons and raptors and whatnots.

You can banish them until you go blue but if the d(a)emons have the -NOHUP switch they'll just bounce right back at you. And besides there's bound to be a wacthdog routine monitoring the maintenance Demons (or are these Angels?) and if we make enough trouble certain process is going to get zapped.

Occlt1: Hey guys look at wha thappens when I block this signal!
Occlt2: Cool do it again! Look at the critters  run around!!

WHAT THE! That's an awesome story muzza, hopefully they don't make them too smart, otherwise we will have to start looking for a good spot to hide "Sarah Conner", hehe.

Good journeys

hello folks - I have become addicted to e-bay, and whilst sifting through the DVD's that are "going, going, gone" I recognized one that Muzza mentioned in this post..."the 13th floor".

I got it for £4 ! I'm chuffed.

I saw all those movies, you know... MIB, MIBII, Matrix, them.  Seriously it is a huge question. There really is no way to know unless you somehow reach the edge of the world (Like the Truman Show!!!) and break through it.  Or find the hidden passageway (the locker) to the other, bigger world.  Who knows what lies beyond the boundaries that we have never crossed (These boundaries being the radioactive field around the earth.  Yes, I do beleive that we never landed on the moon. I beleive that was one big hoax in order to win the war.)

! ha ha.... I remember starting a topic a while back because I too was "convinced" that there was no moon landing...

But its just yet another conspiracy theory. If you watch the video of the moon landing, you'll often hear people claim "its just a slowed-down recording on a movie set"...however watch the sand / lunar dust as it arcs perfectly away from the moon buggy wheels ; that arc can only occur in a low gravity environment.

Here's a neat article I ran into in the july issue of New Scientist.
It's about the possibility that our life is a simulaiton run by someone else and is based on a paper by Nick Bostrom of Yale.
Here's a link a site where you can download the original paper by Nick Bostrom and a follow-up paper by Robin Hanson.

I haven't evaluated the arguments yet but even if it turns out to be doodoo it's a neat idea. Made me grin for a while thinking about the concept.

A neat coincidence is that I just ordered the book Holographic Universe. Life can be such a hoot!! http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile_big.gif" border=0>
