Hi Aninfinity1717,

Appreciate you are living with TMJ and respect that you have enough discomfort without additional uncomfortable energy related sensations around the throat area during your OB practice attempts!

What I have noticed over the last few years more with trance states related to mediumistic development, but also from reading other peoples experiences with trance for OBE work - is that discomfort of various forms can be experienced in and around the throat or vishuddha chakra.

Certainly several years ago while I experienced a variety of uncomfortable symptoms including: – neck pain (although that was related to an old whip lash hyperextension injury), gagging, difficulty swallowing, excess mucus production and tightening sensations around the throat etc.  I can also appreciate that mental stress can exacerbate neck problems and the region in and around that area including the jaw. Can I assure you that the energy related feelings will ease given time!

Like you I also had a father who although not physically abusive 'was' (with respect to him as he is a better person now) psychologically abusive and yelled a lot! This was in part due to his dominant intellectual type nature and his conditioning in his formative years etc.

So I can also empathise in small part with the root cause of your difficulties. As you can see not dissimilar circumstances had a detrimental impact on my own self worth, and ability to be able to handle my self in this world with any reasonable sense of self confidence! It also had an impact on my ability to be effective at school in terms of getting to grips with my academic studies (I had the potential to be a very high achiever). I am glad to say that in my case I was able to overcome these barriers to a great extent as I moved through into my 20's and 30's, but it took some doing to be honest!

In my case it took for things to come to a head during a difficult confrontation my father and we fell out for several years (literally not speaking to each other and only via 3rd parties at that). The healing of this was precipitated by the passing of my dad's 2nd wife – in that that painful event and in the approach to her passing the family came back together. I recognised that I had held on to blame mentality for simply too long and realised that my father (warts and all) was human after all (his grief was heart rending). The realisation was that he as much as I deserved better! So I am glad to say that: my and my sibling's relationships with my father had matured over time and old sores were healed to a great extent.

I would not begin to be able to say that I am some sort of expert on the energetic body and the relationship of chakras, but as you may already know the throat chakra area relates to a number of physical, psychological, mental, emotional attributes as discussed in other words above. As you can see personal attributes like motivation, communication, personal will, sense of self, one's place in the world and ability to assimilating knowledge seem to fit the bill here.

Again I respect your circumstances are different and that you may or may not have different issues to deal with. Yet I also found (for other reasons as well) that overcoming issues related to the heart/emotions seemed to also be related to discomfort on many levels with the throat area as well, and that they came to a head

I regurgitated a lot of old angst in a personal healing process over a number of years and recognised that some of my physical, emotional issues gone through related to spiritual and personal growth. I realised that I simply needed help and was too arrogant to ask for it! As soon as I started to ask for help or guidance it came along (much to my surprise). If you have not already done so please do ask for healing and please do have a look at the healing section on the forum. You may also find it useful to have a look at some of the articles on healing on the main site – for example Robert Bruce's 'Healing With The Heart' see: http://www.astralpulse.com/articles/robert/articles_45.htm .

Needless to say – given time I believe that each of us can overcome what appear to have been barriers set before us by others, and in our turn be able to grow and develop according to the challenges set by our own higher selves (such as the ones I have given as examples). It is my hope that perhaps you might gleam some insight in my humble words that may help you to see beyond the pale in overcoming often deeply personal issues.

Pardon my strange use of English as this was cobbled together on the fly!

Take care,

Stephen

I can attest to asking for help.  I was the perrinial 'go it alone' type.  I floundered in a sea of Depression for 20 years.  I beat Depression, you can beat TMJ.

Physical, Mental, and Spiritual work are required to deal with your condition (I use condition to emphasise its temporary nature).  Healing is done through the Heart Chakra, and yours works.  You can heal your energy body, but the TMJ will come back until you deal with the wounds that are causeing it.  Call it Physchic scarring?  This is the realm of the physchologist and physchiatrist, but you have advantages.  you know what the problem is and how to fix it.  You can bypass months or years of therapy by acknowledging and letting go of the core problem.

Enough pompus speaches.  The key is forgiving and moving on.  it sounds too simple, but we are dealing with a world of thought=action, and bad thoughts are equalling bad actions.
There is a physical limitation upon how much light a human body can sustain. Interestingly, there is no limit on how much light a human vessel can generate. When fully enlightened you must instill your light in order to maintain its wisdom.

aninfinity1717,
Have you tried brushing with baking soda?

My sympathy goes out to you for the pain! I have had throat chakra  closure problems in the past(message therapy helped bring about the right diagnosis-hidden sinus infection).

Not too long ago I had TMJ present itself. It appeared at the same time I had a dying tooth. Somehow, one or the other activated a multiple problem. It was a dilemma for a very good oral surgeon as well. The oral surgeon is very conservative where as I'm one who responds better to aggressive treatments, especially in areas of sinus and throat problems. How is your sinus by the way? Any allergies? This is one of the things that can cause the lubricating benefit of mucous to be ineffective. Make sure your producing quality sinus material and flow. Sinus function is essential for anything below it, anatomically speaking.

I finally had my root canal done. The results was less than successful because of the TMJ factor stayed flared up.Although it wasn't as bad, the pain remained. I was at the point of being referred to a pain specialist when I discovered brushing with baking soda helped. The pain has subsided.

I've been under the impression that migraines had more to do with the third eye (brow chakra), nerve-wise, anyway? Taking care of the primary problem may take care of the secondary problem. I look at nerves anytime pain is involved.

Here is a section taken out of "The 7 Healing Chakras" by Brenda Davies, MD. I find this nerve connection helpful for visualization and healing purposes.

Neurological Connections:
As well as being intimately connected to a major endocrine organ, each chakra also has a connection with a nerve plexus, a ganglion or bundle of nerves coming together to supply a particular area. or in the case of sixth and seventh chakras, the connection is with the brain itself. The sixth chakra also has a connection with the carotid plexus.

Root chakra- coccygeal plexus, which is a small plexus supplying the anal and genital region.

Sacral chakra- sacral plexus, which supplies the buttocks, thighs and lower limbs. It also has a branch to the anal sphincter.

Solar plexus chakra- gastric and hypogastric plexus, which supply the digestive system.

Heart chakra- pulmonary and cardiac plexuses, which are to some extent an extention of each other and supply the respiratory tract, the heart, aorta and pulmonary vein.

Throat chakra- pharyngeal plexus, which supplies the throat area, the phargnx, the tongue and the palate. The brachial plexus, which supplies the arms, may also be involved.

Brow chakra- carotid plexus, which supplies fibers to the head, neck, and ears.

Crown chakra- cerebral cortex, which of course commands everything.

Finding the root cause of something will cause the pain to go away. I hope you get over this pain! There are many things to look at and try.

Maybe you should talk all this over with your father.

That doesn't sound good. I have been dealing with pain also. I injured my neck throwing up when I had the norwalk virus about 5 months ago(or that is the docs hypothsis). The pain is not bad, but what is helping me is going to a counsler and I am doing physical therapy.

And it does help alot to have a GOOD attitude about pain and healing.

I have clicking every time I move my jaw and swallow, could I be getting this TMJ? Doc said it was pressure in my ear.

Yes, a good attitude of not giving up does help. Not all healing is instant. I've been afflicted with little strange head and neck problems since early childhood. I was either born with it or inherited something. It's a challenge for understanding it and correcting it. I've learned alot about health by way of my own health matters in life.

My neck problem was so bad for four years! It felt like a large knife stabbing my neck(karma?). At some stage it also felt like a rubberband around my neck (more karma?)

It was during this time I sought alternative treatments (western medicine couldn't see it). It had gone so far as to give me a touch of asthma! I was on my own to find healing. Step by step I found the solutions. Once you can pinpoint your problem(s), you tell the doctor what medicine you need (some meds are not available without prescription).
The right doctor will be there when the time is right. It's a give and take thing. All is well for me now. Persistence pays off. Aggressive and longterm therapies are sometimes called for. Unfortunately, here anyway, doctors are under so many regulations and are not as free to treat patients individually. I will just have to stay healthy from here on out.[:)] The right thing will show up at the right time.

TMJ looked to me like black lightening shooting from the jaw joint (location-TMJ). The lightening bolt shot through the upper and lower jaw by bifurcating. Brushing my teeth and gums with dry baking soda seemed to neutralize or buffer the pain by breaking the cycle.

For neck muscle problems look at the shoulder areas(shoulders support). The arm connections with the throat chakra I have found to be very true. It helps to observe the nerve pathways to track down the problem.

Better little pain than big pain. Small pains are warnings...big pains=big trouble.

So what are you suppose to do about the pressure in your ear?Did doctor give a solution for the pressure? What is the pressure in your ear from? Does the "clicking" happen all the time in your jaw and throat?

I am always stopped from successfully AP'ing or OBE'ing at the vibrating phase(whether or not sleep-paralysis induced), by a sudden great pain in my throat. It could not be ignored; the pain kept exacerbating. And I wanted to AP so badly..

:( Aside from seeing malicious serpent beings before, I'm sure I will one day see astral travel again (besides dreaming).

Anyways. I took a chakras diagnostic test online, and I found my throat chakra to be the most "closed"

**thank you Rastus, for openly sharing this link

Also, I am diagnosed with TMJ, a misalignment of the mandibula-temporo jaw joints. I can't chew, talk, sing, or use my mouth any other way for long periods. I also can't stop myself from painfully shutting my jaws shut when asleep, which can only worsen the condition (TMJ started along with this habit, ever since my father mauled (I really meant, yelling) me for getting bad grades after I tried my best and slept only three hours a day for that). Worst, all professionals told me that there is no way out, and that surgery is only 2% successful. i was referred to UCLA, but they only knew exercises to relieve the stress, not to cure it or to stop the psycho-physio habit of bitting hard at night. I am currently wearing a splinter. The jaws are still hurting me as I type, bringing in ringing noises or migraines at times.

I believe there is a link between TMJ and my throat chakra choking. Please, can someone suggest me something? I've been spinning that chakra for like, centuries, and it still doesn't improve! Neither energetically nor physical.

TMJ: Temperomandibular Joint (TMJ) Disorder occurs when the muscles used in chewing and the joints of the jaw fail to work in combination with each other. TMJ disorder may have any number of causes, among them such habits as clenching or grinding the teeth (bruxism), malocclusion (poor bite) that puts muscles under stress, accidents that damage the bones of the face or jaw and occasionally, a disease such as arthritis.

-"The classic symptoms of TMJ are pain and tenderness of the jaw muscles, clicking and grinding noises during movement of the jaw, and limited or irregular jaw movement. Other symptoms include: spasm and tenderness of various facial and neck muscles, preauricular (in front of the auricle of the ear) tenderness, facial asymmetry, malocclusion and chronic postural head tilting.

Potential

My studies into the Esoteric nature of the throat, indicate that by meditating there one can have very lucid dreams. Just as it is said in the Mother Tantras.

However a most interesting thing has been happening to me lately. Everytime I meditate, or the unusual fatigue kicks in or my gut feeling says to lay down and prepare for the Paralysis/Vibration State, I will notice with minute detail a slow raising feeling from my stomach to about my throat area, I will feel the body becoming more and more relaxed as it approaches the throat, and on few occassions achieved Paralysis.

But one problem has been happening to prevent further steps in getting OBE. Right when this feeling gets to the throat, a nasty, burning taste blocks the flow of air entering my lungs, causing me to panic extremely, breaking free of paralysis, quickly sitting up and gasping for air, soon afterwards a big belch issues forth.

I think it's Acid Reflux. And I was curious if anyone else had experienced something like this before?

A new understanding of perhaps the esophagus or spinal cord directly behind it, the working(maybe they are working together) might shed more light into the method for achieving successful OBEs. I'm just looking for a common factor that we all share that might be responsible for this unique phenomena.
