Title: Blank posts
Post by: blis on August 13, 2011, 14:08:30
Is it just me or have my last 2 posts gone blank. I dont see anything.

http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_astral_consciousness/heart_chakra_technqiue-t34844.0.html

And I keep seeing random words replaced with 'bonking'. Think the auto sensor might be playing up.

So far I've seen f o c u s i n g , f a l l i n g and r e m e m b e r i n g replaced. And they're in posts that I read earlier on when they hadnt been replaced.

TEST:

focusing falling remembering fearing

- Original text, dodged word filter by adding a "no space space" character (type the word, then somewhere in between hold alt and press 0173 on numpad, then release alt):
focusing falling remembering fearing

Seems like this is happening yes. It's also happening to older topics... It looks like the issue is with -ing words.

Server is probably having issues...

It looks like the filter wants to filter the f word, maybe it was extended to filter slightly modified versions of it.

If we look at f o c u s i n g, f a l l i n g, f e a r i n g, they all have in them: "f", and "ing"

if we type "f- ing", but then without the space between the stripe, it is also filtered to bonking. Definitively a big mistake in the word filterer. Maybe this rule was added recently, because of recent usage of the f word in this way, but errors were made. My concern is, has it filtered all posts ever and replaced words like fear ing, etc, without any way to undo this?

Edit: seems like it happened to every single word in every single post that has "f" and "ing" in it. I really hope this can be undone, it makes nearly every post unreadable.

Ok, I've figured out what caused my posts to be erased.

It was this link
(http://i51.tinypic.com/27yr3o9.jpg)

I was thinking maybe its all the underscores in it but I've tried other simlar links and they work.

Maybe too many f's and underscores together in a link equals erasure.

lol I'm just glad I havent been autobanned.

ok not that then. (lol sorry for the tripple post)

EDIT: It seems linking to any thread in Welcome to Astral Projection Experiences causes it to happen. But not Welcome to Out Of Body Experiences. Weird.

I dunno about the linking problem, it might be related to the problem I created earlier by accident.

The words changing was related to a word-filter addition I made earlier to catch a certain someone from using masked language on the forum.  I'll be dealing with that again in a second though.

I had added a filter check for a certain word but used an asterisk in the word.  I didn't realize this was seen by the server as a wildcard character... and ya, resulting in the ensuing, yet mildly hilarious situation we just saw.

I've since removed the change and all should be well once again.  My apologies for the troubles.  :)

Well people will always find a way to say "it" if they want to :)

But, using a one character wildcard might work. Instead of a * which means "any amount of any characters" you could try the one character wildcard which means "any character, but just one". That will obviously fix this problem. The question is what the one character wildcard on this server is though. It might be ? because the other one is * but there are a lot of differences between different systems and programs. Giving it a try can't hurt though.
