Having Problems with theSearch engine...

As the message says, it's an "SQL Server error"; a timeout...
So, it's pretty safe to assume that the problem is not on your side; but on the server side...

And the search page load time as always been > 10 seconds for me.

You gave me a bit of assurance that it is not my computer.. that is causeing the problem.. well... but to make sure.. i emptied the cache.. the temp folder.. then cookies.. Defraged my computer.. (whew!!.. wipes forehead after all that) and tried it again.. problem is still there.. so all I can do is wait it out.. and hope the server side shapes up better soon... again Thanks Nagual

Hi Guys,
Im quite sure this is indeed a problem with the server/website. I think I remember seeing a post asking people for donations because this site takes so much to maintain. I think I recall them even saying at one stage if the server crashed again they weren't sure they'd be able to bring it back again! And Id say thats linked into the search engine stuff, as searching requires looking up every single message on the server, and places quite a load on it.

Periodically we do have server problems. The server is very capably maintained by our administrator, Adrian. There are unavoidable issues that do occur from time to time. Adrian resolves them as quickly as possible. In the event you have an ongoing problem using our search engine, please pm me and I will see what I can do. []

I have been trying to use the search function to find a particular topic.. and all i get is the following...

and the thing is.. I have ADSL, it used to load up in less the .1 seconds, now it takes longer than 20 seconds to load up the search screen.. then when I search for something.. the above mentioned message appears.. why do I have this problem with your search function and how can I correct it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.. with my warmest regards and thanks

PS.. btw.. i am using IE6 with service pack 1
