Email not hidden as requested

Hi,

Love this forum, thanks.

I checked off "email not public" but anyone can look it up on the member list.

Also, not everyone has the email icon in the member list. How did they get rid of it?

The reason I ask is because some time ago, a  cute person sent me a bizare off the wall email relating to this forum (I didn't reply and have them blocked), then I realized that anyone can see email addresses on the member listing, even when requesting not to be public in the profile preferences.

Either it was fixed, or just when you looked at your profile it knew it was you, so you could see it.

Actually, it isn't hidden for you.  If you look under your name in this post, you'll see an icon that looks like an envelope. If I click on it, I can email you.

Innervoyager, I checked and you seem to be correct. My preference has "hidden" as checked for displaying email, but it appears in the members list and also shows as the envelope icon under my name. If it was actually hidden, there should be no envelope under my name or in the email column of the member list.

I'm not sure what's going on. I've already posted this to Adrian's attention in the Mod forum as I believe this is an admin issue because I don't see a method for mod's to adjust this. My sense is that something probably happened when the forum was updated the other month and no one noticed.

But it isn't. Unless its a moderator thing. I clicked on your envelope icon and could send you an email. You're email address is a first name beginning with M (I won't type out what it is). But my point is that I can see your email by clicking on the envelope.

Do you not see an envelope under anyone else's user name/info?  If not, perhaps it's a mod thing. I need to look in to that.

lol...yes Lola!  When you hit the envelope it will automatically create a "compose new email" window using whatever email software you use. I use outlook, so the new emial window pops up from outlook and the person's email address is already filled in the To section. All you have to do is type the email content and hit send.

I'm going to try viewing as a guest instead of a mod. Perhaps the envelopes only appear for moderators...although that doesn't make sense to me. They shouldn't.
