Could you clue me in?
The only time topics have ever sent me back to the default page is when they were deleted. Your topic must've been 'moderated'. What was on it that would have been offensive?
That is weird. I, too, would like to check out the flying poodle thread.
Databases have a weird way of doing things sometimes. I was on an old forum and posts used to disappear, and then reappear several days later. Weird...
"Your topic must've been 'moderated'"
I don't think this was the case. I don't think any of us have deliberately deleted the topic, at least not that I know of!
It's not the first time a topic has vanished. It's very very rare, but possibly every now and then the forum database glitches when someone's accessing the topic, and the topic ends up getting screwed up.
Don't really know if that's the case, but just a though.
James.
That came off a little assholic, I know. [xx(] I can be easily irritated by censorship.
There wasn't anything out of line in that thread. It was actually pretty funny, especially the Wierd Al Yankovich comment with his current Poodle Hat tour [;)]
That's ok No_leaf, I didn't read it as assholic (good word - I think that needs to be put into the dicionaries [;)]) it was a fair comment.[:)]
Indeed most deletions are due to mod/admin intervention.
Cube,
Usually if a topic is deleted and it's not obvious why, you'd get a PM explaining the situation. If that hasn't happened, I think it might have just fallen into one of those data black holes.
Is it worth resubmitting the topic and starting it over again?
- James.
Hmm.. if nobody deleted it, clearly it is a bug in this forum. I'd think that the 'rare' event means that two people are doing something on the thread at the same time, which can screw up things -if- there is no protection built in. Usually, a forum would 'lock' a database entry while it's writing or reading to/from it - although this takes very short - but perhaps this forum doesn't do that... and when it happens that two people write to the same spot in the database at the same time, bad things can happen.

there must have been a reason...
my people are already on it
I got some notifications that people replied to my flying poodle thread but when I click the links it takes me to the forum homepage. Why does that happen?
The thread was at http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13434
