May someone please explain the "Astral Energy: * - Karma: 0" tags that go underneath our names in the forum and in our profile? What do they represent?
From what it seems, the Astral Energy rating represents the number of posts we've made, or our post rate.
Thanks!
Correct, astral energy = quantity of posts one has made. The karma rating system is a subjective way to let someone know if you find their posts useful/insightful or not. You do not need to use this at all. But if you read something that you really like and want to 'thank' the person, you can either make a post or simply hit "applaud" under their name. Hitting applaud will give them 1 karma point. If you find what they said rude or in some way offensive, you can hit "smite" which will take away one karma point.
These are only meant to be fun, so don't read too much in to them.
Hmm, but while your Astral Energy is 4, you have 5 stars below your name. Are they supposed to match, but because you are a moderator you get 5 stars regardless?
And, I guess the feature to applaud or smite users isn't available to me yet. What astral or karma rating do you need to rate other people?
Yes, the 5 stars below my name is because I'm a moderator. Normally the number of stars, like astral energy, is based on quantity of posts.
As for rules on karma, Adrian has the currently set as follows:
1) you need to make at least 10 posts before you can applaud/smile; and
2) you cannot smite the same person in under 100 hours
hello.
what,s mean of negative karma in this forum? for instant karma= -28
If a member has a negative karma rating, it means one or more other members have found their posts to be rude or offensive in some way and have smited the member (by hitting the smite button next to the applaud button).
However, members are unable to smite the same person within 100 hours. So if someone has -28 for their karma, and the karma accumulated within 100 hours, that means 28 different members smited that person.
Does that answer your question?
thank you that helps alot
