Greetings Squeek,

This has not been reported before, and it certainly does not happen to me with version (6) of Internet Explorer either.

May I suggest that you check your browser settings?

With best regards,

Adrian.

You may want to check your browsers "language" setting ... it's in "Tools -> Internet Options -> General -> Languages". Apparently there are many types of English and you will want to make sure that you are using "English [eng-us]" some of the other flavors like [eng-aus] use different translation tables and you end up getting some unusual characters.

Try reinstalling the fonts in control panel.

The settings are on eng-us, just checked it now to make sure...

I'm pretty sure it isnt the fonts themselves and that I tweaked something in IE options that I shouldn't have...  I'll go through it more thoroughly in a little while.

PS - after some investigating, I found that the problem ONLY occurs during the use of the font "comic sans ms"...aka the font I use on these forums.  I noticed this because Mayatnik uses the same font, and that's when they appear.  When people quote the comic sans ms it is transferred over.  I may just take beavis's advice and reinstall comic sans ms.

Alright I'm so cool that I fixed it  :)

If anybody else ever has this problem, it is not the Bold / Italics codes.  Mayatnik was simply using apostrophes around those words and internet explorer's default setting disallowed me to see that.

Here's what you do!

1. View - > Encoding.

2. If encoding is on Unicode, just change it...Unicode never works :)  Mine is now on Western Europe (windows).

Thanks for the people that posted to help me out.  We were all wrong, but thanks for listening!  :)

Ok so recently whenever somebody else on the forum has used bold or italic codes, they appear as these annoying boxes to me.  Something like this - [].  I was chatting with some people and asked them if they used bold like you are normally supposed to and they said they are.

The boxes also tend to replace apostrophes as well...I don't know if this is an internet explorer thing or what, but since this is the only site I ever go to, I was just wondering if this could be resolved :)
