yes, I visualize melting thru my bed. I find that laying on my stomach is the easiest way for my entire body to relax completely. Laying on my back Im not able to let certain parts of my go limp my lower back for example feels very tense for some reason. If this is the way you are used to sleeping you might have to try extra hard not to fall asleep

wish it was that easy all the time....after focusing on the hum it must have taken just 1 minute before I couldnt move and I started hearing voices.

About a week ago I was under the influence of alcohol after returning home from happy hour. As I layed on my couch watching TV I started to hear a low pitched hum in both ears....I focused on the hum and suddenly couldnt move......but I could hear all these voices around me talking. I was feeling cold so I thought about fire and instantly my body felt like it was boiling and I was in a cold sweat the craziest part about it was that I could hear a low crackling noise as if something were burning I could also smell a strong sulfurous odor. I still dont know what may have happened I finally was able to snap out of it when my girlfriend came downstairs. Has anyone has anything similar happen to them?

Sorry the original message was posted elsewhere

Lol, ok forget if anyone has ever had anything similar happen to them. Does anyone have any idea what might have happened? Theres 2 things I forgot to mention while frozen I felt something snaking up and down the inside of my body from my feet to my forehead very quickly, I was also able to breath perfectly (my nose was a bit stuffed) then as soon as I could move again it stuffed up again.

Looking back I remember having the falling thru my bed feeling alot as a kid and jerking awake because of it. I always remember having many dreams and being able to fly but as a kid I just thought these were dreams and nothing more. I had a long period about 8 years or so btw 14 - 22 yrs old, where I couldnt really remember having 2 dreams in that time span. Then in the last 6 months I've been having about 3 - 4 a week. Not to mention a handful of OBE's. ....I just think my seizure knocked a couple of things loose again...Im glad it did.

I look at it this way, if your mind can create all those scary moments imagine what can happen when you finally conquer those fears. Each time I've had a scary moment I've gotten excited about what I could do the next time I actually AP.

I was curious. There are lots of AP'ers out there but I wanted to hear what caused some of you guys to actually research it and get into it.

In my case I was 22 yrs old I had a seizure, Ive never had a history of seizures and neither had anyone in my family. This was just 6 months ago or less, while i was having my seizure it felt like I was stuck in a continuous loop reliving the same moment over and over just kept reliving the same 10 - 15 seconds over again and again. Just a girl standing over me trying to get me to snap out of it < this was my girlfriend but I did not know who she was while having the seizure. I would eventually snap out of it, talk to my girlfriend who at the time was freaking out then I would go back into the seizure. This happened about 5 - 6 times before I snapped out of it for good and went to sleep.

The day after my seizures I had all these questions about time the mind and consciousness. Since then I have had a different view of the world a feeling of understanding without knowing exactly what I understood....if that makes any sense.  I started reading up on Complex partial seizures and came across this on a website for seizures

"Complex partial seizures affect a larger area of the brain than simple partial seizures and they affect consciousness.
During a complex partial seizure, a person cannot interact normally with other people, is not in control of his movements, speech, or actions; doesn't know what he's doing; and cannot remember after wards what happened during the seizure.
Although someone may appear to be conscious because he stays on his feet, his eyes are open and he can move about, it will be an altered consciousness, a dreamlike, almost trance like state."

After this I did a search on altered consciousness and came across astral projection. The rest is history.

Sorry if this is a bit long, just wanted to see if anyone had any similar stories.

Ive had a ton of scary moments when I started really getting into ap'ing ......I've heard knocking from underneath my bed, Ive seen the TV look like it was about to fall off the my dresser, one time I dreamnt someone was coming out of the central ac vent above my bed. The craziest was back when I lived in nyc I had just woken up to go to the bathroom...came back laid down for what seemed like 2 mins and It felt like someone had both hands on my chest pushing me up and down in bed. <<< this one happened way before I knew anything about ap'ing so I thought I was going insane. Now whenever something weird starts to happen I remind myself its just a hidden fear and it will usually go away.

I lay on my stomach and just slowly relax my entire body starting from my toes all the way up to my neck feeling each part just go limp on the bed while im doing this i also visualize a tunnel with a small light at the end of it and it slowly getting closer. I sometimes like to imagine myself melting into and thru my bed. I just recently switched from laying on my back to laying on my stomach. Laying on my back I had mild vibes and some astral noise a couple of times in a 2 - 3 month period. Since Ive switched to sleeping on my stomach a week and a half ago Ive had 2 OBEs and very strong vibes and loud astral noises about 3 days in a row. I started out doing what most books recommend by laying on your back and doing body relaxing exercises. But the very day i switched I had my very first OBE. If you have been trying for awhile a certain way try switching it up maybe a change is all you need to get better results.
