According to some others, you unconcsciously project a great deal, but do not remember it.  I myself have done it once or twice when I was not extremely tired, but had been woken up from a long sleep only to go asleep again (whether it be a few seconds later or a few hours).

I woke up unable to move last night, and I read that this means your astral body is out of your physical one, so I just decided to go with it.  I was suddenly in my room, but it was like trying to look through a hole in a wooden fence, and it was dark.  I willed my vision to clear up a bit, but it was still hazy.  I had fallen asleep with my arms crossed over my chest, and I couldn't get them uncrossed!  So I jumped as hard as I could, hit my short ceiling, and woke up again.

The same night, I got into a position that was better, I think, for OBEs (on my back, loose and comfortable), and tried again.  This time I had more control and better vision.  I looked down at my hands, and my fingers seemed to fly out and expand of their own will, before disappearing.  I took this as a good sign, and said, "What the hell, why not give flying a shot?"  So I did, and rose through my ceiling.  I think I wasn't expecting much to happen, but it certainly did, and I was suddenly very scared.  I think this made me wake up in the physical world.

Does this sound typical?

Thanks all.  And yes, I do feel intense vibrations (not uncommon for an amateur, I'm told).  It never occured to me to let them pass, though.  Thanks!  And I will try to study my movement, and get into a deeper state of relaxation.

Generally, I wait until I am extremely tired.  Then I lay down on my back, go through a breathing, energy, and relaxation exercise for a few minutes, and then attempt to exit using the rope technique or several othersI read about.

Hey youse guys!  (Philly native here).  I've been trying to project off and on after many successful inadvertant attempts as a youth.  I've been reading "Astral Dynamics" by Robert Bruce religiously.  Most of his methods work just fine.  However, whenever I try to project, I can feel myself rising and swinging my legs over my bed, standing, etc.  Every time, though, it turns out to be my physical body doing these things, or at least I open my eyes, expecting an OBE, and find myself physically standing!  It's a little frustrating because I THINK I feel my astral body rising and standing, but its just this tired old body.  Please help!
