Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Breath awareness
November 02, 2002, 18:58:58
When you project do you forget your body is breathing? Its the only aspect of the physical I can't seem to forget. I'll be meditating, and trying to project and there comes a point where I'm breathing, but with out the feeling of it. I mean I'm making the motion, but no air is going in or out, and my chest isn't rising. I'm asuming that this means I'm no longer 100% in hte physical. But when I stop concentrating on my "astral" breathing I'm right back in physical.

I'm trying to forget about breathing with phasing, sort of, Just using my imagination vividly, like most of the day, your attention is elsewhere so your not consciously aware that your breathing. Its a bit hard tho because I use my breathing as my preferred relaxtion technique.

comments and/or advice?

Thanks in advance.

Nothing that has any importance to anyone is a waste of time.

Lesson learned: drink in moderation, if you can't remeber how many you've had it aint moderation!

back in my younger more drug oriented days we used to eat acid and do natural highs and have someone pass us out.

You put your head between your knees and breath heavy and fast and when you feel you can't do it anymore you leap up, with someone waiting to wrap their arms around your chest so you can't breath in, and boom, out like a light. Then we'd lay the person down, cover them with blankets, and sit around the edges. It was some crazy kinda trip. You'd wake up with this whole dream like story of what happened when you were out but it was really only 30 seconds at the most. I surely wouldn't reccomend anything like that for OOBE Purposes tho, its hard on the system, and impossible to maintain any kind of control.

Thanks very much for the responses guys. I know I don't have to worry about breathing, in fact the opposite. I just can't seem to let it go without returning my awareness to the physical. I guess its just one of those things that takes practice.

I think its a great thing to ask of guides, when your ready to understand. I think its a bad idea for people to share these things. For every legitimate thought made up, theres a false one. Wouldn't that cause quite the mess. Or what if one person was ready for one answer, and another ready for a different ansewer. They'd come here with two different answers to the same question...

Seems like a don't ask don't tell thing.

Its really hard to explain. My physical is breathing normally, and in my astral I just can't give up breathing. Imagine the feeling of breathing, the steady in and out, but with absolutly no air, but not feeling a need for air. These types of things seem almost impossible to put into words.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Proof of afterlife?
October 31, 2002, 21:51:21
heres another good read on the subject http://www.johmann.net/book/

It attempts to explain NDE, OOBE, and the afterlife in a scientific sense. Reading this book is actually what got me interested in OBE, I still can't call my "astral body" anything buy my "bion body"

I've no esperiecne with TMI's gateway program, specifically because of the cost. I have used one of TMI's hemi sync tapes however "transendence". I've gotten more out of the 14$ tape than anything else I've tried. Perhaps I just fall into the generalized target for TMI products. I'm not sure if I'd ever buy gateway tho, way to pricey.

If your really curious as to the effectiveness of TMI products, get transendece, its pretty cheap. Verbally guided and not. I've had absolutly amazing progress that would have taken me forever without it.

On a side note, galvanic skin response is also used to "photograph" auras. Not that its really takes a pic of an aura tho.

#12
think about this logically guys :-)

theres no need for one huge mp3. Consider this, one small mp3  for each guided voice segment, and one small mp3 for each of the non voice parts. They download the several much smaller mp3's and toss them in a winamp playlist in order. Adding the non-vocal clips several times to get the desired length. Even with the highest quality mp3 format thats brings it down way under the 10meg mark.

It could even be done that way with better quality wavs, reducing the total download time for a very high quality "set" by half or more.

Just some thoughts...

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Herb for inducing OBE
October 29, 2002, 21:32:59
All of the purified concentrated extracts of this plant are total rubbish. If you want real information, with the highest quality, check out www.sagewisdom.org

It contains all the information you'll ever need on the plant. Including scientific research, which you'll notice the other sites are lacking. If your really interested in this herb this is the only place I can reccomend. And to put it bluntly, you'd be a fool to go anywhere else.

How are you on voice overs - or anyone else local to you? We need to take the Gateway Wave 1 type theme and overlay it on a suitable BWGEN pre-set and turn it into an MP3.

I took a BWGEN pre-set and exported it to WAV, and it came to 212Mb for a 20 minute track!  I am removing WAV from the filre library because clearly it won't be practical - we need pre-sets and preferably MP3.

Thanks again.

With best regards,

Adrian.

Sadly, I have a voice most wouldn't ifnd particuarly relaxing, which is a must. Its rather annoying in fact. Good thing I'm not a singer :D Even if someone with a cheap computer mic could do something I can mix it up and track it perfectly. I have incredibly hi tech equipment, and can most likely clean up a dirty wav suffieciently. I'd be hesitant to loan by mail a 200$ mic :)

My line of thinking is that someone does a couple voice cuts, not in time to anything, just phrases strung together. I can then clean them up, and pull them apart, putting them whereever they need to go based on the bwgen file(s) being used.

For example, if a total track length is say an hour, its not going to contain much more than 10 minutes of anything vocal (just guessing here) Even as an incredibly high quality wav thats not all that much space. I can then encode everything into a high quality mp3. I would probably have to do something standard as well, as most soundcards can't play the highest quality I can produce.

So we need someone with a nice relaxing voice to volunteer a few minutes of their time :)

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Paralysis
October 29, 2002, 21:01:26
I kind of end up where you guys are sometimes I think.

My question is how do you know your astral as in fact separated if your conciousness isn't with it?

What happens to me is similar, but different. The lower half of my "body" seperates quite easily. The rest of my trys to follow, but something keeps me in, or at least not too far out. I'm sure its some mental barrier I have to work thro that I haven't found yet. Just spend a couple days with your "self" thinking and solving problems, perhaps you'll stumble across whats blocking your escape so to speak.

#16
Very hard on your body. You might not think so if your realativly young, but I can promise you it will catch up with you, and when it does it will suck. Sleep is a very important thing. You need to get as much of it as possible. Your more likely to have more worthwhile projections from sleeping too much opossed to not sleeping enough.

My uneducated advice: Get some sleep! too hard on the body to be worth anything....

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / AP Sensations
October 29, 2002, 20:53:36
Certainly not a projection technique, but its very common to have such feelings with certain video games. These are the ones that typically have warnings in the title screens somewhere. Just an enjoyable side effect. I'm sure science would explain it differently of course.

I really like deepmind4, but the thunder is freaking annoying. I edited the preset and turned the thunder into shoveling sand or whatever that is. Every time the thunder would "roll" I'd be like AHHH its just too, dominante. If this were a multitrack project I'd say the volume on the thunder track needs to go down a little further.

Someone mentioned making our own set of gateway like experiences. To anyone interested multitrack recording software would make this pretty simple. I am a musician and have found a couple programs I really like. Cool edit pro www.syntrillium.com is great, but it costs a great deal. I beleive they still offer the older version for free, but it needs a plugin to mulititrack. And www.n-track.com is an amazing program for the price. You'd most likely need a full duplex sound card as well, but even a cheap sc these days is sufficient.

Or if no one has/wants to buy these programs I'd glady assist in the mixing and mastering to mp3 of such a project :)

#19
The question that strikes me is how do you tell whats actually coming from astral and whats really being generated by your subconsciouse mind? I mean it would be rather simple to rule out whats coming from your conscious mind...but who knows what lies in the sub?

#20
Not that this will help you, but this is my technique

I spend the first several minutes with my eyes closed just adjusting to having my eyes closed, the normal nightime sounds etc.
then I visualize the numbers 1-3 for some reason. They are like in a far off box, and each in turn comes close and into focus. These are typically timed with my breathing, one in two hold 3 out.
after a while of that I just (hard to explain) start to make myself feel heavy. Like I'm about to drop thro the bed.
At some point during this process I begin to imagine scenes. Like I'm walking thro a forest or some such. I usually find myself in a pretty deep trance with almost no awareness of being physical.

Patience is a virtue.

For some OBE comes very easily and quickly. For the rest of us (the majority?) its a long involved proccess. Maybe take some time off from trying to project and working on raising energy would help you.

I realized a while back that I could easily get to the threshold of a projection, but couldn't quite get out. Now instead of trying to get out daily, I work on figuring out why I can't during the week, and try to project on the weekend. It seems each week I actually get closer, over one more stumbling block. Just relax and enjoy where you are.

#22
I noticed myself that in my first several attempts the "sensations" were almost overwhelming.

Although now they are practically non existant. I can only percieve them if I try to. I still have yet to achieve a conscious projection. My life has been insanely busy as of late with work and other such drags.

You should consider reading up on RB's "new engery waves". If you haven't yet, that is.  He mentions things that might help to explain what your feeling. If I recall, and my understanding was right, the "sensations" are restiance in the flow of energy. The more you feel the sensations, the less you will feel them, your energy body provides less resitance as the pathways clear and become stronger.

I get the division by zero screen using it perhaps once out of 5 times. I just reboot and it runs fine. At least in win98

OahnMacleod, very cool link I was unaware of.

I've only played with the brainwave generator for an hour or two. Once I figure out how I respond to all the different presets I'll most likely register the program, and explore somemore.

I'd really like to know where your numbers come from napoleon. I don't mean to imply that your lying, but common sense would typically dicate anyone posting such figures would post the source as well....

Wow, some really interesting links. Thanks guys!

As a musician (ok ok ok, I'm a guitar player, its almost the same thing lol) I've long suffered. Always told by DR's and other people who claim to be "in the know" that there is no cure. Definatly stuff worth checking out.
