I was hoping someone could explain what a "Disk", or a "Disk Member" is, and where this term originated. I've read a few posts in these forums where people have shared their experiences with these "members", but I have to admit I'm a bit perplexed about the whole subject.

Thanks,
Michael

This morning I experienced what I think was my second OOBE this week. These were the first in many years. It was a strange experience however. First of all, I woke up this morning with a heavy tingling sensation in my right hand. I probably slept on it. But the sensation made me think of the vibrations, and I decided to try for an OOBE. I started to doze off, and felt slightly "detached" from my body for a moment. At this point, my mom knocked on my door to inform me that I needed to move my truck for her, as she needed to go to work, and was blocking the way.

After moving the truck I went into the bathroom, and with the thought of projecting still very strong in my mind, I decided to try the "mirror exercise" outlined in many books on astral projection. After about 2 minutes of this I felt silly and climbed back into bed. Immediately I began to doze off again, but catching myself in the process I compressed all my energy into the act of sitting up (rising out of body). I slowly began moving into an upright position on the bed. I could barely see, as if looking through blurry eyes. For a moment I thought I was perhaps still in the physical, however soon was to learn otherwise.

Suddenly I felt a strong force begin to pull me backwards, and I fought it as hard as I could for a moment. I suddenly felt myself let go, and just let it take me. Everything went black, and for what seemed like 10 seconds I felt myself rushing backwards into the darkness at a fair velocity. Next my visual perception shifted somewhat, and I could see a wall passing me by very dimly. My perception opened up for a moment, and I percieved that I was in a room somewhere. It also occured to me that I was moving around this room in a circular pattern backwards, very quickly. As I came close to the wall I reached out for it, and attempted to place my hand on it to slow my rotation. My hand passed through the wall however, I began to slow down a bit.  At this point I said out loud (or rather thought it out loud) "Clarity Now!". And I slowed to a halt, and my visual perception cleared. I was standing in a very dark room. It appeared to be nowhere in particular. Perhaps A room I had created in my mind. Don't really know. I then awoke.

This was a very odd experience to me, however I had had at least one other experience in the past that was almost identical. The sensation of movement I felt reminded me of William Buhlmans description of "moving inward" in his book on AP. I wonder if this is the sensation to which he was refering. Ah well. Any thoughts anyone? Anyone have similar experiences?

Thanks,
Michael

I seemed to  have had an out of body this morning, however it was of a short duration, with a very small degree of concious awareness. I had slept in late this morning, and after waking several times rolled over on my back with the intention to have an out of body. I eventually fell asleep, and sometime later "awoke" in the hallway just outside of my bedroom door. My visual perception was extremely clear and vivid, however at no point during the experience did I really come to the realization that I was out of body. I walked down the hallway towards the living room and somehow determined that I could simply float through the air. I suceeded. Somehow I found myself lying on my back in the living room, unable to move (I don't know how this occured). I sensed that I could simply will myself forward, and up off of the ground. I immediately sprang forward and up, albeit very slowly, towards my bedroom. I then woke up with no memory or sensations of re-entry.

I was very pleased afterwords, for I've been unable to reproduce an OOBE for about 5 years. I think my subconcious is finally gripping my desire to leave the body, and deciding to run with it... so to speak. I feel that I was very close to full concious awareness, however I was within cord range throughout the entire experience, and I think this perhaps could have been part of the reason I never completely "awoke".

It seems to me that the premise that evil is synonomous with ignorance fails to address certain moral questions. Let me explain. Most people would agree that certain actions or behaviors are intrinsically  morally offensive, or "wrong". A few examples might include the following: Murder, rape, and  theft. If you were to examine the above examples briefly, I'm inclined to believe that most of us would agree that there is an element of offensiveness in these actions that require punitive actions to be taken against the offender. In short, people desire justice in their societies. But justice is the upholding that which is good and right in a moral sense.

Wether or not ignorance or a lack of knowledge results in offensive behavior is in my opinion, entirely besides the point. I think the bigger question regards our innate ability to draw a distinction between right and wrong in the first place. Where does this abilitycome from? Simply stating that evil is ignorance doesn't seem to answer the question. I would agree however that with knowledge comes responsibility, and this responsibility includes moral accountability for our actions, thoughts, and behaviors. Wether people like it or not, we are indeed accountable for our moral decisions. We endure the consequences of them experientially, and we face legal or punitive consequences for them in our societies.

It's my position that we draw distinctions between right and wrong, not out of ignorance as some would assert, but because their exists a Supreme Being whose very nature is Good, and Right, and Just, and to whom all men are morally accountable to for their actions.

Thanks for all of your responses, I appreciate it. I think some of the older postings are starting to make a little more sense now!

Merry Christmas,

Tisha,
I've had similar experiences, as I'm sure many others in the forum have. Unfortunately, I don't think there's any real way to define what the experience was for certain. The same holds true for many experiences I've had as well. It could have been a false awakening, or perhaps you awoke momentarily in your astral body. In either case, it sounds like progress to me!

Best,
Michael

I don't think this was an "astral wind" experience per se, but it's close enough I guess. My wife got in the habit recently of turning on the heater at night, due to the fact that... well, it was getting cold. I didn't like it, because the fan blew very loud in our bedroom, as the heater vent was right over our bed, and it disturbed my concentration while I was meditating. Finally, I decided I'd try and use the noise to help trigger an out of body. So for about a week, whenever the heater would start to blow, I'd think about projection. Then one night I was dreaming that I was outside my house with a group of friends, when all of a sudden we experienced what seemed like hurricane winds. I kept trying to hold onto something for fear of being carried away. The last thing I remember was holding onto the grass for dear life, with my legs flying in the air! I woke up, and sure enough, the heater was blowing :)

I have little experience with out of body's, however it seems likely that these were either reality fluctuations, or you were merely experiencing a lucid dream. Have you thought about asking your mom when she placed the basket of clothes on the chair? This might help clarify. Good luck!

Michael

Patty,
That was an interesting account you gave of your experience the other day. I've had similar experiences as well. It strange how sometimes an oddity (like the transom in the door, or your parents in your home) can escape our attention during an out of body. For me, I woke up after the experience banging my head on the wall wondering how I could have possibly NOT come to the conclusion that I was out of my body while I was floating around... as if it's a natural event in normal life or something! During one of my first out of body experiences I walked into my backyard, and then around the side of the house, only to see the street lined with strange looking vehicles that I believed to be milk trucks for some reason. It was like the milk men were invading our neighborhood or something. Heh heh! But I only considered it odd after I awoke.

Thanks for the response, and good luck in your journeys!

Best,
Michael

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / My Typical OBE

I'm curious where I can get this tape or CD.. I too have William Bulhman's book, and found it to be a fascinating read. Do you know if he has a website?

Thanks.

I dismissed these experiences as lucid dreams, as I had previosuly had a full blown OOBE in the past, and these experiences seemed to differ significantly (finding myself in an otherworldly environment other than the RTZ, no exit sensations, etc..). After hearing about phasing on this board, I'm not sure anymore about my experiences. Any thoughts? Anyone?

The starscape effect generally occurs as part of the Phasing process. It is also common to see whirling shapes or clouds of colour, and such like. Basically, you switch from seeing only the 2-dimensional blackness at the back of your eyelids... to having a feeling of moving into a 3 dimensional blackness, which is often punctuated by lots of little yellow lights in the distance (well, with me they are bright yellow).

If you progress further you typically feel a kind of mental shift wherupon you find yourself within the Astral someplace. Which is what happened to you. But if you slow that shift down, you find it is possible to travel through the blackness and go right up to the lights, for example. Or you can have a root around and see if you can come across what are commonly called Astral Plane Entrance Structures of the kind R.Bruce printed on the back of AD.

Yours,
Frank

Thanks for the response Frank. I appreciate the feedback. Your description of this "3D blackness" mirrored my own experience last night. In an attempt at an OBE last night I envisioned a friend that I wanted to visit very strongly in my mind. Knowing that she would likeley be asleep at the time, I pictured her lying in bed. The "blackness" indeed took on a 3D effect, almost as if I were peering into a window of a darkened room of sorts. Then a strange thing happened which I wasn't epecting at all. All of a sudden what looked like a 3d "picture" of sorts came quickly into my field of view (it appeared to move towards me from the distance, quickly growing larger as it approached). In this "picture" I clearly saw the figure of a female lying in bed in what appeared to be my friends bedroom. Then a moment later the image faded, and the experience was over.

I never shifted, or phased into the location, but felt as if I could have. Perhaps this was merely clairvoyance, or a remote viewing episode. I've never experienced either before. I'm gonna try again tonight :)

Donna, I find it interesting that you often experience the described "starscape" while phasing. I've experienced this many times myself. I haven't heard of phasing before I found this board a few months ago, but seemed to have used the phasing method quite by accident I guess many times in the past to induce what I considered to be lucid dreams at the time (I was attempting OOBE's) .

Anyways, while lying in bed I would often expect to see the ceiling above me (astral sight?), but would fequently see a large expanse of stars in a night sky instead, as you seem to have described. Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Can't move =(

I've had this same experience, where I actually want to sleep, but find myself constantly awaking in a trance, and likewise, unable to move. I think Auraseer had a good suggestion, however if you really want to try to induce an OBE, then I wouldn't fight it, but experiment with it. Even see how long you can prolong it. It's hard though. I woke up in a trance this morning, and although I have been attempting OBE's lately, I simply hate paralysis!!! So I hear ya..

I experienced a hitchhiker before, pretty much the same description that you gave. In fact, I had forgotten about the experience entirely as it was a few years ago. I recently read Robert Bruce's book however, and when I read the part about hitchhikers I suddenly remembered the experience... and a BIG chill went down my spine. As far as I can remember, my piggybacker looked like a half dead guy, and appeared to be unconcious. I was flying somewhere in the astral I presume, and noticed an arm around my stomach. I remember being quite freaked out, especially after looking over my shoulder to see this freaky looking thing on my back. I don't remember if it spoke or not, or how or if I even got it off of me, but I do remember trying to pull it's hands off of me. They were cold and felt like dead limbs. Ever fallen asleep and woken up with a "dead" arm? That's what it felt like.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / OBE problems
November 24, 2002, 17:25:21
I had an OBE experience a few weeks ago, however I was only able to get my hands and my legs out. I was sort of stuck in the middle I guess. It was really wierd. I was like flopping my legs up and down and waving my arms around, but just couldn't quite make the exit. It was really frustrating. It was fun to watch my legs flopping up in the air though! I purchased a bottle of Gotu-Cola yesterday, hoping this will help me to bring my self into a deeper state of relaxation. Maybe next time I'll have better luck (like tonight I hope!).

I had a dream this morning that I was in some sort of classroom setting, and I was getting really sleepy. In the dream I closed my eyes and sort of leaned back in the chair. I felt myself getting really light all of a sudden and it occured to me (in the dream) that I was in a prime position to leave my body. But for some reason I didn't think school was a good place to project, with all these people around me and all.. so I opened my eyes... and woke up cursing at myself!!!!!! Agh!!!!! Figures. At least I'm thinking about projecting while I sleep!!!
