I ran into the same problem you have Jisie.

I'm still not having much luck, despite all the advice. I find myself falling asleep more often than not  :-(

I'm not sure if it's further along or before that post that Soli related from Frank...
But closer to when Frank disappeared, his solution to the "eyes" issue was to just relax them fully.

Just returned from work so I've not read the linked posts yet, but I'm glad its not just my own peculiar problem.

Eye relaxation is extremely tricky for me, as the more I focus on trying to relax, the more I become aware of the micro-movements. I'm going to try and not try too hard in general and just totally relax my entire body for a while before attempting to 'notice' anything.

I also suspect that 'noticing' should not involve actively engaging any flashes or snippets (which tends to trigger my eye awareness), rather it should be to 'acknowledge' whatever appears in the blackness. Sounds fine in theory.. I'll test it out later.

To me, it's almost like the eyes can't let go of being the dominant "visual" organ. They suspect you are trying to view some "thing" and it's like the physical eyes automatically take over saying, "Yep, we do all that visual stuff so get-lost the rest of you."

Yep, that is precisely the problem I face. I will try out what you have advised. Thank You very much!  :-D

I have been reading Frank Kepple's posts and have been trying out his Phasing techniques. My question is with regards to how and when one 'notices': Do you have to suppress the tendency to use your eyes to 'notice' behind your closed eye lids? I find that my eyes will tend to wander when I attempt to 'notice' things in the darkness, this always causes some strain n disrupts my phasing attempt. Must I consciously ensure that I am not using my physical eyes to 'notice'?

I would have to agree that for many it's probably the best and most systematic set of instructions, tho for myself I found certain parts lacking.. for example it doesn't touch on how and whether to focus thoughts, if you should be thinking about the many steps or trying not to think etc. His explanations are very 'scientific' and 'analytical' but somehow I find I tend to lose my way and go off tangent on single aspects at times.

Also, the timer method, which I imagine must be very effective, is useless for me unless I have no qualms about waking my partner up repeatedly every night.

Thanks! I think this was discussed in the saltcube videos..anyway I've resolved to stick only to 1 technique (VES) for now and work on it for the next few months at the least.

I will continue to try, and reading your blog just makes me realize how uncommitted I had been previously. My intent and desire has to be much stronger if I'm ever to succeed.

Bought the ebook some time ago, but never did get around to reading it till now.

I woke up at around 3am (by habit) and tried to reach hypnagogic state last night, controlling my breaths and trying to sink deeper towards sleep with every exhaled breath.

I'm quite certain I reached a stage when I was aware of lying in bed but little else, this consciousness lasted for an indeterminate period, but I never had the sense of lapsing into sleep or waking up. Next thing I knew I was still somewhat in this state and the sun had already risen unbeknownst to me. There didn't seem to be a break in consciousness and I had no dreams whatsoever, at the same time I wasn't sufficiently conscious to be remember my intention to go on to the next step.

Can anyone help me decipher what happened? Could it be construed as some sort of progress or did I simply fall asleep and wake up without realising it.  :?

Interesting read, may I ask which visualization technique did you use?

I consider myself agnostic.  :-D

Gravity center of the universe????

You stumbled on a different theory for gravity that is different from Einstein's????

I just checked, apparently I had linked the files on astral society which is now down... Give me a day or so to upload them to my own server, and change the links on the site.

Thanks!!

In short.. i find it too easy to 'snap out of it'... cos my consciousness is still to overwhelming.. but when i let go, i drift to sleep too easily.

Any tips for how to hold on to minimal consciousness required for OOBE without succumbing to sleep?

For me my attempts over the last months have either resulted in my drifting off to sleep or simply not being able to reach the body asleep stage....

sometimes i'm almost sure my body has drifted off to sleep due to the 'lead blanket' sensation... but unfortunately it was not so... my body still responds to any impluse to move.

If you have access to practically any of the 'pro' music editor apps like Cool Edit Professional or Cakewalk, you can add hemi-sync to your own music files.  The best approach is to start in the beta state and work slowly downward through alpha and then to the cusp between alpha and theta (~7-8 Hz) Theta brainwaves indicate a trance like state and alpha are awake but relaxed.  Beta is full waking.  The magic number is actually 7.8 Hz (from my own research)  and works best when you work downward to it like I mentioned, because your brainwaves need to adjust slowly, they cant just 'jump into' a deeper state.... (I should also mention that 7.8 Hz is the fundamental node of the Shuman resonance of the earth's electromagnetic field!)

Having said that, I made a few MP3's (available on my website) for free... they have brainwave tech embedded and were made to relaxing music that I composed myself.  They are not very long though so I recommend playing them on 'repeat' and of course listen through stereo headphones to get the hemi-sync effect.  I don't consider them the best by any means... but hey I had fun creating them, and they worked for some people :)

HI, I'm not able to download your mp3 files, and I have already registered. All i get is the 404 Not Found error.. can you help?

Does 'visualizing' vibrations help to bring it on? I have this urge to focus on what little sense of vibration I have when i'm in a relaxed state in the hope of 'amplifying' it into an actual vibrational state.. am I doing it wrong? because it hasn't worked once... I suspect the 'vibrations' I feel are not the type that signals imminent exit  :|
