Now that you mention it, the same thing happens to me.... I always go to sleep either on one side or the other but when I get conscious i always remember getting out like I'm on my back facing the ceiling.
I believe thats because once the astral body is released, it can toss and turn within the physical body.

I had a similar experience last night, I got the buzzing and saw some instant flashes. I felt like i was struggling to get out (like getting out of bed) but i felt difficulty in doing so like rubber bands pulling me back. I couldn't see anything.... it ended quickly. Happened again later that night but it was the same and ended quickly again.

One way to know is to meet other people and talk to them. If their responses are like those given by real people in the physical, then you were probably in focus 3.
#3
I don't have many lucid dreams, very rarely. Yes these are actually technics to increase lucidity in lucid dreams but if you think of it, dreams are no more than unconscious astral projections (lucid dreams are conscious) so the same rules should apply.

Apollon: Do you think it means anything if we don't experience the vibrations or sounds as fully as others?

Everyone: How long does your astral normally last? Can it be prolonged?

Maybe the kind of separation symptoms someone has, has to do with the level of awareness his consciousness has accieved so far.
What i can tell you from my own experience is that my symptoms have changed through time, they're different now compared to what they were 8 months ago. They seem to be getting milder the more experiences i have, i remember the buzzing to be much more intense back then.
Maybe it has something to do with Chakras activation, the more activeted the are, the easier it is to separate from your physical body.

The Gnostic movement supports that these voices shouting/screaming (or calling your name) sometimes scary, are actually your own egos manifesting. So if that is to be true, i can understand why some people hear them more and others less or not at all. I don't recall ever hearing voices but 2-3 times i got up really scared because i thought i could hear someone's breath right behind me.... i also heard meowing once and there is no cat in the vicinity.

Maybe someone can shed some light on that one.

My astral experiences do not last very long, they seem to be getting longer and more clear, the more experiences i have.
Astral experiences can be prolonged by trying to stay focused thus conscious in the astral. When you feel like loosing it, there are several methods to avoid waking up. One I've tried once or twice is rubbing your (astral) palms to each other or spinning around yourself. I don't know why but this seem to work.
I've heard that getting hold of something also works, or focusing on an object.

Hi Stumpy,

the symptoms you describe are exactly same as the ones I have. Some people describe pulses throuhout the body, i just get the buzzing in my head. Some times i feel weird sences like something touching me, or a slight push. Yesterday night I was chest down on my bed and while i was having the buzzing, i felt like something was pulling me out by my right leg.... weird ha? Then i found myself flying above a coast, in daytime though....

What you described as an attractive force pulling you back when you tried to exit, i used to describe as rubber bands attached on my back, pulling me back because thats how it felt like, like an elastic force. Or some times it feels like you try to "get up" but you feel really exausted and can't make it out.
This phenomenon i believe is caused because you're not completely released from your physical body yet, you should relax a little bit and wait for the buzzing to become a bit stronger (even try to make it stronger yourself) and in a while you'll be gettin up without feeling anything holding you back.
I don't hear voices either, i recall hearing music sometimes.

You must have read my experience in deep space, that alone could have made you travel there while you were out.
As for the orange flashes, i never had those. I either get clear or fuzzy vision, or no vision at all (astral blindness, you feel you're out there moving but you can see nothing).

I think it was definitely an OBE, if it was a lucid dream you'd definitely know it was.

I really can't tell you much about audio because i had very little encounters with others in the astral. Most of the times I'm somewhere but alone or watching other people that seem to be in the physical. I can't recall actually hearing them say something though.

Only once i remember percieving a figure standing on the other side of the room while i was still in my body but could percieve the astral. I don't remember feeling any fear, i remember extending my astral hand towards whatever it was. But you know what they say.... you attract the same as you are mostly. If you're full of negativity then thats what you'll get coming to visit.

When i concentrate in my third eye (before i go to sleep) it feels like some kind of pressure in the spot where i'm concentrating on.

At a Gnostic center i used to go, the said that if you go deliberately in a specific place and you can't see when you get there, its probably a negative entity there that inhibits your vision and you should say a banishment in order to send it away and be able to see. The taught us two of these... I actually tried this once when I got to a place and it worked, as soon as i gained my vision i saw that i was transfered at my summer house's balcony.

If you're interrested in learning a banishment, search the web about "belilin"

I would be intrested in trying new age music, i've tried bineural beats so far but not during the whole night. If you care telling me what exactly is the music you hear, please email me (its in my profile).

I'm still a rookie, I can't control where I'll go yet although I've done it once or twice. I've mostly travelled in real time zone but there were some cases that the scenery was too weird to be in RTZ.

As for travelling in other times, i think that may have happened to me once because i found myself in what appeared to be RTZ at a well known to me place but it was daylight and not midnight as it should and i saw people there, two of them have passed away long time ago. So maybe it was indeed another time period.

I observed that as time goes by, i have more and more astral experiences and more vivid ones, although I don't do any daily excercises like meditation etc. What i do is when i lay down to sleep, i try to keep focuced, I'm focucing on my third eye. I find it easier to focus on my third eye, i imagine looking at it from the inside of my scull, soon after I begin to feel it. I didn't read this anywhere, i just find my third eye easier to focus on.

Also (and please tell me your experience with this), the separation symptoms seem to have changed a lot since my first astral projections 7-8 monthe ago. At that point i used to hear a loud buzzing inside my head (not pulses througout the whole body), most of the times i got distracted by it and didn't make it out. Other times I gained conciousness after the buzzing had seased and i would just get out of bed and walk away just as i would do if i was awake. Also I had many sleep paralysis incidents at the begining.

Now its different, I don't have sleep paralysis any more, I still get the buzzing in my head of course but it seems to be much less loud than it was at the beginning and it has a higher pitch now.
I also find it much easier to sustain the buzzing and not get distracted by it (although i don't think i'm doing anything more than i did before) and I also think that the separation process is much much faster now. I close my eyes, soon come the buzzing and boom, I get up and out of there.... I get astral blindness more though.

Whats your opinion in this?

I really don't know what to believe anymore about 2012.
There are so many things that are being said all the time.

There is also an Orthodox priest here (I'm in Greece) that has written a book about it.... he is certain that this (2012) is the year that the antichrist will make his first appearance on earth as he's already been born in 1982 and will rule the whole world for 3.5 years. After that the second coming will happen and christ will win and rule the world for 7 years. Finally after that the world will come to an end and eternal life will commence. He sais he came up to this conclusion after intense study of the holy scriptures and St John's reveration.

I mean, there are SO many different things being said all the time. I believe nothing will happen in the end.

I had some astral experiences and none negative so far. The only weird thing i can recall is seeing a shapeless figure in my room while i was separated but still in my body (could move my astral hands but i was still in my physical body).
Though this seems like something that should have scared me, i remember feeling no fear at all and even laying my hands towards whatever it was.

Most people say that you can't be hurt but i believe (not from experience though) that you can indeed be hurt and i don't mean physically ofcourse. If a person ends up having severe psychological problems, fear of going to sleep or whatever, because of frightening experiences in the astral, sounds pretty hurt to me....

Why are you afraid of exploring deep into space? Afterall distance doesn't seem to matter right?

I've been astral travelling for about 7 months now and it all started by itself. Did you make constant efforts to achieve more astral projections?
Since you've been astral travelling for 2 years, please tell me, did the experieces seem to come more and more often and easier with time?

I can tell you what works for me.
I try not to pay attention to vibrations although its more like a loud buzz in my head for me. When the buzzing is strong enough, (i just know when its time) I don't imagine myself floating out. As a matter of fact i don't imagine anything, I just get out of bed like I would normally do in the physical, rolling out of bed works too. Then i either jump out of the house or pass through the glass door and go outside.

What i also want to mention from my experience although i only begun to astral project (without any training) about 8 months ago, is that my symptoms of astral projection seem to go through changes as time passes. I remember "waking up" in the night hearing a loud ringing in my head that couldn't explain. Some time later i had many incidents of sleep paralysis (3-4 in a week) and kind of a no weight, floating out feeling.
Then I had some training with excercises and had some success but most of the times i only had vibrations that couldn't maintain in order to get out.
I've stopped maditating and doing other excercises for some months now (well except trying to be focuced when i go to sleep) and I seem to be having success, well greater than in the past at least.
Also the loudness of the buzzing seems to have lowered significantly from what I had at first, it lasts shorter and i seem to be able to leave the body more easily now but I get the "no vision" thing more now.

Can anyone shed some light on that please?

Hi all,

yesterday night I had a unique experience. I mean i had astral projection experiences before but never in space.
I started having the weird symptoms of astral projection, just last February. I had no idea what astral projection was at the time and I only knew of some stories of people experiencing OBEs while close to death. I really don't know for what reason all that started happening to me all of the sudden, I did nothing to cause it.
Anyway, since then i started searching of whats happening to me and after some time i ended up following the Gnostic movement.

So, to make the long story short, last night when i went to bed I prayed to my divine mother for conciousness while out of the body and asked of her to transfer me in space and really meant it from the heart.

Very soon after closing my eyes I started getting loud buzzes in my head (within few minutes) that seemed to come and go like waves. Soon i felt released and out of body but without any vision, when i finally started to see i could only see stars all around me. Suddenly i started to travel with what felt like light speed and i think i could see both infront and behind me at the same time. It looked kind of how the enterprise looks when it travels at warp speeds in star trek.

When i stopped i found myself in a very weird environment, i could see coloured formations that resembled bacterial shaped like life forms (the size of a small dog) only they were moving in space and they were not on some planet. That was weird !!!! Life in the vacuum of space?
After that I remember thinking how I'm going to find earth and return since it looked like i was in the middle of nowhere, just stars everywhere but I remembered that i shouln't worry about returning, it would happen anyway.

When i found myself in bed, i felt like crying, my eyes got watery from deep emotion.

Anyone had ever seen life floating in space just like that while traveling in astral space?

Thank you everyone for your very useful insights :)

It wasn't a dream, i was totally concious and aware.
Well nobody tells you its this or that, they just tell what they think it might be.

Its a chain of gnostic centers all over the world, I go to the one that is in Athens-Greece. Find details here
http://www.gnosticweb.com/gnostic-centers

Could i have entered and experienced another person's dream? It was like i phased in this scenerey, one second i was in my bed having all the symptoms of astral projection and the next i found myself lucid in this scenery.
In the gnostic center someone told me that it sounds like a teaching but this doesn't say anything to me, i can;t make anything out of it.

I begun having astral experiences 2 months ago, they started happening without me knowing anything about the phenomenon.
After i did research, i decided to investigate what was happening to me further so i joined a gnostic group in the city i live in. I have lessons about astral projection and meditation technics every Sunday, i also read a book that goes with the technics that are tought.

Yesterday night (around 1 am) i went to bed after doing some reading of this particular book. I started doing a practice having to do with visualizing the heart as an organ and feeling its beats. Before i know it and right out of the blue, the loud buzzing in my head begins and i feel my (astral) body moving, i try to get out entirely but have difficulty so i continue to visualize my heart. I have only some astral experiences so far but this was my first intended one that had success and it was SO easy. Most of the times i fell to sleep and my conciousness was waking up just before i exited my body (in the gnostic center someone told me that this may be "help" of some kind, i even felt a soft squeze on my arm once at he buzzing sound state).

Anyway, suddenly i find myself in a large room (very vividly and totally aware of what was happening to me), i could hear music (kind of familiar music). I can see many people around me and they're dressed in some kind of animal costumes, running around in what seemed to be some kind of dance. I felt very excited and very happy and i remember "running" after them, i also recall passing through a glass window that seperated this room with another one.
After a while of running around in this kind of dance, these people started to line up in queues and there was a person infront of them (facing them), he looked like he was ready to anounce something.
After that i begun loosing clarity fast, i thought about rubbing my hands together (a stay aware technic) but it happened very fast to do anything so i found myself in bed.
The whole thing lasted about 15 minutes (i looked at the clock just before going to bed and after i woke up). It was very vivid, after i woke up i felt so touched and happy that i almost bursted into tears. It was the most vivid astral experience i ever had.

Any ideas about where that could have taken place? I mean it was a bit surreal to have happened in the real time zone at 1 am. It could be on another part of the globe but... i don't know....
My other experiences were more like being in an unknown apartment staring at what's happening or flying towards the stars.

Any ideas?

How can someone know for sure if he has a negative entity attached to him? Are there any unmistakable symptoms and what he could do in that case?
Can something like that happen to a person that never kind of "asked for it"?

I had another one last night.....
i still can't deside 100% whether it was actually an OBE or if I was dreaming of having one.....

Last night i went in bed at 1:00am because of a stupid movie i was watching. I was feeling uneasy so i couldn't get to sleep, i was in a "wake up and begin to fall asleep again" state until 3:00 am. I also had in mind about trying to have an OBE because i could feel my body relaxed and numbed several times, because of this "wake up and begin to fall asleep again" state.

Once i kind of "got right out" of bed, not like levitating or anything, just like i would get up normaly out of bed, but out of the body.
I remember thinking to move away from the body ASAP and while doing so (but I wasn't floating, it was just like walking), i can remember thinking to "visit" my parents downstairs (i live on the 3rd floor) but i can recall thinking something like "and what if i do, they're sleeping now, lets go and see something more interresting".
So after taking a look at my bedroom in mid dark (didn't look at my body) i jumped out of the window (through the glass), and while i was falling i remember visualizing about flying because i read this on the forum somewhere.

I remember having an image of a block of flats and one of them having light inside (it was around 3am, at least in my country). After that, I remember myself being inside a small apartment watching a young boy brushing his teeth in the bathroom, i was in the hall just outside the bathroom and I could see a man that gave me the impression of being the boy's father, sitting on a bed in a room at the end of the hallway.
I remember him watching straight at me and i thought "can he see me?", but i was invisible to them the whole time.
Then i remember this man getting up and putting his son to bed in another room.

Just a glimpse about my body passed through my mind and there i was at my bed waking up.

The only thing that again makes me doubt that the experience was an OBE is that i can't seem to remember the whole thing, i seem to have forgoten some parts of it, like how i got to this never seen before apartment. I don't remember flying to it thought i have a picture of it from the outside in my mind.
I don't seem to recall many details, the boy's face for example, or what were they waring, and stuff like that.

I was under the impression from other people's sayings that it should be a VERY vivid and striking experience, but then again I'm not easily shocked. It didn't feel like it was something new to me although it was my first consious "out of my room" trip.

Is it possible when you're having an OBE to have forgotten some parts of it when you wake up? Thats what makes it look like a dream to me...

Both experiences happened after i did much reading about etheric and astral projection (i was waking up in the middle of the night having the symptoms and didn;t know what they were) so i can recall clearly being concious in bed paralyzed and having my head buzzing loudly. I recall getting up (out of body) both times, its just that after "getting up", my memory is blurry and i thought that maybe it was just a dream because of all that reading i did lately.

This other person i mentioned seemed like sleeping peacefully on his side and looked just like an ordinary young man. Didn't move or say anything, he was sleeping. Just like someone else being in the same bed sleeping. Didn't look creepy either.

Then i read something about being possible to project in a parallel reality where everything is the same but not quite... or maybe the dream theory is simpler?

I've been out of body 5-6 times the passed 2 months (3 of them completely separated) but i only stayed inside my room, didn't last long. All of them i just woke up (gained conciousness) having paralysis and buzzing head and took it from there (just got up or rolled out).
Once i put my (etheric legs) down from the bed and tried to get up but my head and chest felt like moving within a very viscous liquid (slowly and with difficulty) so i didn't make it out.
I also had some more cases where i didn't make it out, mostly because i lost concentration.

I haven't been able to induce the buzzing willingly, like lay down and do it. I'm experimenting with bineural beats specialy made for OBE, they're sure doing something but i reach a level of relaxation and i start having a sensation like spinning in a wirlpool but i can;t go any further than that.

Hello everyone,

i begun to read about OBEs and Astral projection 2-3 months ago. Some weird symptoms i experienced and didn't know what they were, made me look a bit more into this.
Sometimes i woke up totally paralyzed in bed, other times i remembered waking up in the middle of the night having a buzzing sensation into my head like loud ringing, and other times i felt very light and a levitating kind of sensation while having my eyes closed.

At the beginning it was happening without me knowing much or trying to do anything to induce it. Even after a lot of reading about the OBE subject, I would "wake" up having the buzzing into my head and take it from there but as soon as i felt like i was leaving my body, i lost concentration and there i was again in my body with a numb feeling all over.

Anyway i had two experiences that i'm not certain if they were actual OBEs or a dream that i could have had due to my recent pursuit of the subject and mostly because i recall my vision and memory to be a bit fuzzy.
In both these experiences i never left my room and both took place during my 2 hours 6pm sleep after work and none of them lasted long.

What makes me doubt that it was actually an OBE is...

1. I recall that my vision was more less like it would be in the physical. The room was dark, only the green digits from the alarm clock were luminating it, just enough for someone to see a bit, so i couldn't "see" clearly.
I've read that in other people's experiences, the room being dark didn't matter and they could see just fine while out of body. This wasn't the case for me.
I actually saw my body laying on the bed but like looking at it in mid dark.

2. Once, i "got up" and when i actually looked on the bed i saw me and another person laying next to me in bed that i didn't recognise, appearing to be sleeping.
A friend of mine's friend (girl) that had very intense experiences of this sort, was convinced to talk to me about it after telling her i had the symptoms of OBE (she totally freaked out when all these started to happen to her even during the day, and she didn't want to talk to anyone about it...).
I remember her saying that once she got out of body but when she looked at her bed, instead of seeing herself there, she actually saw a blond boy laying there sleeping.... this is similar to my case. Could something like this happen in an OBE or does this mean it was just a dream?

3. Another time i "rolled" out and i remember that it was like i was spinning and rolling everywhere in the room.

All these times, my memory is a bit fuzzy, from other people's experiences i've read that they have very clear memories and vision, no matter the luminance in the room.

Were these experiences dreams or OBEs?

That man probably wouldn't want your friend to find out that president Bush is a blood sucking reptilian projecting a human body as some say :D :D next time tell your friend to tell him that its ok because he already knows...

I am a light sleeper so i can control myself and keep me in a "ready to begin dreaming" state. Suddenly i find myself consious and completely paralysed.
When i begun reading about OBE and astral projection and had it in mind constantly when falling asleep, i was amazed of how more often i could induce paralysis.
I remember the first time i got paralysis after reading that it is a very good point to get out of the body. While i was paralysed i thought "lets try it" and i begun imagining myself getting out slowly. To my surprise i felt like getting out almost instantly, i didn't know what to do (and still don't exactly), if i should open my eyes or not and how will i start seeing.
Should i be able to see if my room is almost pitch black or not... i remember of seeing once (but not quite) although i'm sure i had my eyes closed.
Another time i became lucid because of the loud buzz in my head and i remember that each time i fantasized pulling the rope to get out, with each pull the buzzing was getting louder.
Somehow i can't maintain it and i "wake up", the paralysis goes away and i end up in bed with a numb body.

It seem that inducing lucidity in paralysis is easier for me than going on from within a lucid dream or from a totally awake state.
I have so many questions that i didn't find answers by reading..... i still don't understand if the astral plane is the place you find yourself into immediately after you leave the body OR you go there by will after that.

What frightens me the most is the reports of some people feeling the presence of "things" in the room while they're paralysed or seeing them while out of the body in their room.
I've also read that some people came back from projection having severe psychological problems who knows why....
thats what scares me the most, i mean i have depression from time to time, i don't want to end up in a nut house :D

Sorry for the long post and forgive any mistakes i made, English is not my native language.

Hello,
I'm Apollon and i was introduced to this OBE etc matters fairly recently, due to some "symptoms" i was having and didn't know what they were (often sleep paralysis, buzzing sounds in my head during half asleep, spinning like wirldpool sensation).
At first i didn't pay much attention until once i felt like i was light as a feather and had the impression i was levitating somehow.
That cought my attention and after reading on the internet about sleep paralysis initially, i was amazed to find out that the same symptoms i was having were described as the initial ones of an OBE.

At first i was very excited and determined to master OBE and astral projection but to be honest, some things i've read about seeing lower astral entities, scared the crap out of me. Specially when i read that lower entities are attracted to sad feeling people (i had depression from time to time), this discouraged me a bit and although i know i can make it (since i found out what my symptoms were, i gain lucidity within sleep paralysis almost every second day the past week) i'm very scared of facing something that would terrify me. I live alone and only the thought of "seeing" something in my room petrifies me.

Anyway, i'm glad to be here and i'm sure i'll find some answers by more experienced people on these matters like you.
