Interested to hear about your results. I didn't have much success with the Saltcube alarm system, but had better luck with other WBTB methods. I think combining Saltcube with energy work and affirmations and a routine of some sort would be the best combination.

I had the same sort of experience with the Hemi-Sync stuff, but to a lesser degree. The voice coming in constantly giving you instructions so repetitively led me to quit using them all together. For this reason I've switched to using the BrainWave Generator. Mastering Astral Projection by Robert Bruce comes with a bunch of BrainWave Generator presets for various states. Google BrainWave Generator and you'll find a free download. If I can find my original CD I would send you a copy of the presets.

That's some really interesting results you had there. Particularly the part about people standing over you. I wonder if that was part lucid dream or if it was something in the astral.

I want to add one thing: Show some respect for yourself and the boards by using proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. I've read that using a lower case 'i' when referring to yourself indicates a lack of self-esteem. Believe it or not, the way you communicate does reflect your attitude toward yourself and the world around you.

I can tell you are getting frustrated and that is what will eventually cause you to fail. Astral projection requires a bunch of things to come together at once. It comes fast for some people, but others really have to work at it. The way to bypass this frustration and actually see success is to "small-chunk" your progress. Start small. If you are going right for OBE success you set yourself up to fail if you don't succeed at first. Try this...

1) Break up the end goal into smaller chunks. Books you want to read. Indicators of success (trance, energy work, lucid dreaming, etc)

2) Come up with goals and a timeline for what you want to achieve

3) Use affirmations to reinforce each goal, as well as the end goal, along the way.

4) Keep a positive attitude. Remember that negativity is going to pull you away from what you want in the first place, so don't give into it in your thoughts, actions, etc.

I recommend Mastering Astral Projection by Robert Bruce because it does a great job of breaking the different components into a  day-by day plan.

Good job! The combination of getting up early and doing lots of energy work has yielded the best results for me.

I agree 100%.

This I agree with too. I have come to pretty much the same conclusion, I was just hoping that some had brought back some insight from the other higher spiritual realms.

Thanks for the response! Was great to hear fro you.

This is one of the things I would like to explore in the astral as well. Have you read Far Journeys by Monroe yet? This is something he gets into pretty deeply in this book, as far as the creation of the Earth goes. It's a great read.

I like to think that science's version of creation isn't really very far off at all. Science can hypothesize that billions of years ago a bunch of rocks were colliding with a giant ball of dirt somewhere and then volcanoes happened and gas was created and then carbon and water, etc. This is all perfectly feasible to me while also believing that it could all be part of a greater entity's thought form and creation.

In other words, because science's version of creation is different from (for lack of a better term) religion's version, doesn't make either perspective incorrect. I think that both versions of creation happened, and continue to happen, exclusively but intrinsically intertwined.

Hey man. I'm sorry nobody has replied to your post yet. This is an AWESOME experience you had. Most potential projectors try for months and months before having this kind of success. I really appreciate how well-written you made your post.

I definitely think this is an OBE. I know that the line between OBE and lucid dream can get blurry, but with the rolling out and all it really sounds like all the characteristics of an OBE. Only you can say for sure through experience if this was just a dream. OBE's feel a little more in my limited experience.

I saw in your other post that you've only been attempting for a couple weeks. That's great progress. Had you done a lot of reading before attempting for the first time?

With the holidays and all the stress associated with that time of year, I was not getting nearly enough sleep for a few weeks. My astral projection progress really slowed down at that time and I have to wonder if the amount of rest you have gotten lately affects your success in projecting. I had also been interrupting my sleep occasionally, making me even MORE tired and likely affecting my ability to stay awake while attempting.

What has your experience been with sleep and astral projection? Well rested = more success? I could see a case where maybe being extremely sleep deprived could lead to spontaneous OBE's, but mild sleep deprivation definitely did not work for me.  :-)

They are speaking in first person. "Visualize" is a difficult term because everybody uses their imagination differently. Some people visualize visually, while others use their tactile sensation better. If you are imagining yourself floating upward, try doing it so that you can feel where "you" are while floating up, and can also feel that your physical body is a few feet below you. As you continue upward, "feel" your physical body being a few feet, then six feet below you and so on. Do what works best for you, but don't get stuck thinking that you need to "see" things that you visualize.

That's pretty awesome! Congrats on a cool validation.

I don't know about your last question. I've never felt spacey as a result of trying to AP, but maybe your mind keeps drifting back to the experience.

It sounds like you are getting very close to projecting. Try going more "into" these feelings that you are getting without having any expectations. When you are getting loud noises in your ear, let them intensify. It's difficult to explain, but just go deeper into those feelings and you may just find yourself projecting naturally. Or you could begin experimenting with different techniques (like the rope or ladder technique). It sounds like what you are doing is working though, so I would continue with what works.

Have you considered using the search feature?

After you experience it enough times these feelings will probably stop. Just keep your mind focused on your goal and not the feelings. How often do you attempt?

I don't attempt nearly as much as I would like. I've had most success when doing the wake/back to bed method, but this method isn't feasible to try during the week when I'm lucky to get 7 hours of sleep. I'm doing more attempting at night now, which I have yet to have any success in doing.

He talks a lot about Eckhart Tolle's book 'The Power of Now' in this interview. I definitely second his recommendation of that book. You can download the audio version of iTunes and it's absolutely worth every penny. It's one of very few books that have created a lasting a effect on the way I think and live.

This is probably my biggest obstacle to OBE/AP. Particularly when I attempt at night, when I start to feel exit or trance symptoms, by stomach gets that nervous/adrenaline feeling and I feel more tied into the physical shortly after. My heart rate goes up, etc. Has anyone discovered ways of overcoming this? In the Robert Bruce book that I own (M.A.P.), he just recommends willfully intending to be very calm and relaxed. While I think that is good advice, there has to be some other ways of overcoming this problem. I know that time and experience is essential, but it sure would be nice to find a shortcut to this issue. Thanks!

The thing about computers and TV's is that they are a source of un-natural light but your body perceives them as light and makes your body "think" it's daytime. It makes your body stay awake in a way. They also require zero effort to concentrate because of the constantly changing stimulus. So if you are working on improving your ability to focus and concentrate (esp. for OBE practice) a lot of TV/Computer surfing can't be the best thing. When I do a wake-back-to-bed attempt, I try to avoid the computer/TV and just read.

Not sure what it is but I can intensify the ringing any time I want to just by focusing on it. I think it's always there, but maybe that's just the years of playing in rock bands.  :-D

Great questions. I think the answers, which I don't claim to have, are difficult to explain because time and space concepts don't fully apply when you talk about higher astral planes. In other words, is one astral plane further from another plane? That's why I like the term phasing (and also really liked the Kepple article) because it talks in terms of energy and frequency rather than us being here and the astral being there.

It seems like kind of a tricky term to me - "mind awake/body asleep". To me, it almost implies that you are actually staying awake while the rest of you goes to sleep, which implies that your brain is actually staying awake, which it is not. What is really happening is that you really are completely going to sleep but hanging onto a sliver of consciousness. I know it is sort of splitting hairs, but the term throws me off sometimes.
#22
The fact that you truly believe in it is one of the most important factors in actually succeeding in making it happen IMO. Good luck and happy holidays to you as well.

Really sounds like a lucid dream to me, albeit a long one. The reason I think this is because your friends are there and you are in a movie theatre and such. It sounds more like a dream. I've only had 1-2 OBE's and a few lucid dreams, but this sounds more like a lucid dream than anything else.

A vibrator as an alarm clock. Interesting. Women around the world are lining up.

Ok update on my attempts, last night I was laying down, pretty tired I had been running in athletics, I was definitely in an altered state of mind. Minor vibrations, I felt like I was falling, I was focusing on my breathing mostly, then my legs jumped into the air... I think, I am still not sure if this is true, if I was imagining this. Maybe my astral legs snapping back into my physical legs?

Any help or comments here?

Thank you!

-DaMann

Sounds like you are making progress! Regarding the legs, that could be a few things. Maybe your astral legs really had separated without you realizing, or maybe it was just hypnagogic imagery. I've sworn that someone had literally kicked the bed while I was attempting AP, or yelled something like, "Hey!" Don't let that stuff distract you. You will learn to just ignore it.

Those types of things happened more to me back when I was attempting at night a bunch of years ago. Since I began attempting in the very early morning, after 5-6 hours of sleep, the "hallucinations" have been much more subtle.

Anyway, I would recommend you try in the morning if you can manage to do it with your schedule. I can only do this on the weekends due to work and other responsibilities, but my success rate is way higher when attempting at this time.

...ok, one last thing, when you say it may have just been your imagination, remember that imagination is one of the keys to lucid dreaming and astral projection. Don't be too dismissive of things that may have been your imagination. Look at imagination as one way of communicating with your subconscious self (for lack of a better term).
