Hi- I just read your post. I know what you are talking about, except I call it journeying. But it's basically the same thing. It doesn't work sometimes for some people b/c of maybe for the things they are asking, or that they are trying to FORCE what they want to know. In astral projection, we will only be told what God wants us to know. It is a vision of the surroundings in your life that you cannot see with the natural eye. I don't drum. I go into meditation, and then I ask for a power animal, and then the power animal guides me from there. You also have to put any of your ego aside to connect. If it isn't happening, I wouldn't worry about it. You may try saying a prayer to God as well, and ask him to send you signs. That is where it comes from. It is a gift from God.
