Is there any correlation between MBTI type and your interest and experience? IMO this is a very interseting question.

I was introduced to MBTI when taking a course in my college. I'm an engineering major and don't know much about this except from what limited knowledge I get from that course and searching on the Internet. So, anyone knowledgable or have anything to contribute on this or other personality type will be very appreciated.

FYI, In all the test that I have taken I always score as INFP. Mine you this is not a certified test. Just the test given in my course and some online test I've taken.

I would be intersted to see how you fare with MBTI test and if it has any correlation to your interest and experience such as OBE, lucid dream, meditation, philosophy, energy work or metaphysical experience. This is not to say your experience are determined by this test or any other classification but your personality do affect what you choose to see and experience.

Just me.

Sometime when I try to attempt projection I experience the presence of some 'thing' in my room. This is not always the case however. But nonetheless whenever I feel like that it always kinda make me wary and many potential projection are ruined.

By the way this always happens on the onset of projection (well, for me anyway as I usually abort projection when this happens).  I have try to be bold and just this morning I was trying projection then getting paralyse, vibration (rare for me), ringing etc. But at the same time I feel something in my room. This time I decide to be more fearless so I just when on. My fear did subside but I can still feel the presence anyhow. After sometime mantaining the vibration I have problem breathing and decide to end my attempt. With that the feeling of the presence vanishes.

Also one time I'm stuck in my body so I decide to call for help. And lo and behold come two hand grabbing my upper arm trying to pull me out(the hand doesn't feel physical more like etherial). Needless to say I'm startled and said in my mind, excrement, what have I done, mentally screaming no, then I feel the two hand let go.

I don't know what happen. Could it be that I'm hallucinating, or scared by my own self or could there be something is really there. anyone ever called for help to get out?

Your comments are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello all,

How do you folks gather energy. Is it by visualization, breathing food etc. There must be a method that you consistently used everytime (or most of the time any way).
Your help are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Congrats GURU Frank.
You are truely an Astral Scientist/Engineer.[:P]

It is easy to fall asleep with OBE practise. You might get an OBE too if you're lucky.

Also you might like to try brainwave generator software ( http://www.bwgen.com ). There are many preset for many purpose such as inducing sleep or LD.

Maybe you're one of the people who don't need much sleep. Do you fell tired with little sleep?

Why do some people always get vibration and some don't? It's quite rare for me. Those that I get is usually not very violent as some people explained and they rarely lead to OBE.

Usually an astral limb or two will just float while relaxing. Or my whole body just float or I'll just drag my non-physical body away. My body seem very hollow at that time. The funniest one would be where I keep falling from my bed left and right and absent mindedly keep climbing to my bed to continue projecting. It takes quite a while for my mind to grasp that I'm already out and should just walk away.

As for the easiest method is try to mimic sleep or what I call 'I'm going to sleep, I'm not going to sleep yet'. Just stay relaxed and when you think you're relaxed enough, relax some more. Also try to mantain your awareness so that you keep bouncing a littel bit on and off from sleep and wake.

Actually, most of the OBE technique are useful for one purpose, to keep you aware while your body come to sleep which is easier said than done. What you need to do is keep your body asleep/mind awake OR 'sleep lightly' enough so you'll be waking and sleeping for a  while. Then you might be aware of the hypnogogic image/sound which will turn into dream if you're not careful. If I can get super relaxed (your body seem like they are very numb or sluggish when you get up) after sometime I found that my body will become loose (I rarely feel vibe) and an astral limb or two will rise.

Although technique are good, I find myself keep changing technique in the middle of OBE projection so the only thing I do now is gentle focusing on the forehead region and/or staring for the darkness behind my closed eye. (The silly thing I do with rope is I keep climbing eventhough I'm already seperated. IMHO the rope is to kickstart the projection, when it's started, you shouldn't bother about climbing anymore)

It is important to sleep lightly. Some people just put their head into pillow and conk into sleep and this is not very productive. That's why it's better to try projection after your mind sleeping need are satisfied otherwise you will just sleep (I've been guilty of trying on bed time).

If it's so hard to do this, sleep deprivation might help (not to be done often as you might get cranky). At one time, I slept very late (about 7 a.m and wake up at 8.30 a.m). I keep awake until 1 p.m. Then I decide to rest a little bit and not to sleep as I was waiting for my friend to come.  I was holding off sleep for a while then I see hypnogogic image and come close to projection.

I'm sure many people here can give the tip on how to achieve lucid dream. However I could suggest 2 thing that is becoming really lucid in your real life and keeping a dream journal. When you can remember your dream well, you're one step closer to have a lucid dream(that you remember). However most of the time I'm just too interested to play with my dream instead of converting it to AP my dream become an adventure in the dreamland.[:)]

If they are trained in dream remembering we'll have greater chance. Maybe if you become a demon/dragon or a ghost. Most people dream of being scared by a ghost but I dream of being a ghost (one of the dream I still remember when I'm about 5-7 is becoming a ghost in the desert and scaring a girl). Definitely a potential for ghosting. [:D].

I suppose we need to bother with symbolism too. Maybe they could remember us in their dream doing other thing while we dream about doing other thing. For example, we can take a walk in the forest in the dream while they remember us ballroom dancing with them...

Maybe your trying to hard? For me I just get very very relaxed and then just stay on the awake/asleep line (I'm going to sleep, I'm not going to sleep yet). Also as yo're very aware in your dream you can try to become aware of your body on your bed and take it from there. I have.

Magnetic energy pull is a theory that I found on

Actually it's about loose or tight hold on your astral body.

Within the Astral, because of the inherent nature of the environment, everything "within" ourselves tends to manifest "outside" of ourselves.

I was going to post something related to our subconcious but Frank has post about that comprehansively and I could  never said it any better. My experience is my emotion are always multiplied tenfold in the astral. If there is sexual tension in me on the physical then I have a huge problem controlling my desire on the astral. Also I've read about Frank's post regarding training zone. I don't know if I have been playing in the training zone lately?

You can check this out http://members.tripod.com/~Xperiment/gracia.htm
It explain something regarding subconcious fear. For example, after he project for a few months and reading his journal he discovered a recurring pattern. Often, he would try to fly but he would be blocked by tree branches. It is sometime before he come realise this symbolism but once he become aware of this and work on his 'problem' this do not occur anymore.

Frank has point out about the basic rule and other thing countless time and we're very fortunate that he never tire of explaining the same thing all over again to us (my Astral conciousness thread on prence on the onset of projection a while back and countless time on other thread). [:)]

Heheh,
It's not the situation that is mangaeusque, it's the [|)] symbol that is. In manga, there is an unexplainable tendency for the character to smile with closed eyes. [|)]

Now this has turned into a worthless post.
Doubly sorry.[B)]

The only problem is they need to remember their dream. Most people don't remember dream that well.

Kakkarot,
Maybe you're too interested to stay in your body? Much excitement in the physical? Too much magnetic energy?

[|)]This one so mangaeusque..[|)][|)]

First question,
Not yet.

Second question you might like to visit http://www.astralvoyage.com
Go to spirituality, there many info about manifesting into your life. Much wisdom there.

I personally view that to advance spiritually one does not need to be a hermit and live in a cave![:D]

I haven't experiment much with teleportation as I always seem to get sidetracked. IMO teleportation or accelerated travelling (my teleportation has not yet be spontantenous teleportation)need to be done with delicate balance. You want to get to the object/place you want to go to and not the thoughtform of or your imagination.

But I have try at least one time the whole way. I try to reach my mom through OBE. What I do is, I try to pull myself with my mind to her. I made it a point not to imagine anything about her and only try to pull myself with my mind to her. The result, my vision went black but not totally black (there is movement in the blackness) and I seem to be moving/flying very fast. I also feel like radio staticky feel (hard to express so bear with me here). It take quite some time and I make a point not to get impatient or stop halfway. I Intent for it to stop by it's own accord when arrive. After sometime I stop automatically and I get the vision of my mom. I don't see anything around her. Only blackness. I lose conciousness later. And I don't have any proof whatsoever (I'm not going to ask her aboout thjing like this, at least not yet). Maybe I need to try another target which I can ask about.

That's it.

Also I've come across website (I forgot where) where Bob peterson explain how he finetune his quick travel since his book. Not much different from what I do. You can try to search for that on the net.[|)]

Do you post on NDE forums?
There is a poster with your nick there.

The score from your online test Rob,

MTBI Test Results
Your personality type is INFP.

Introverted (I) 93% Extraverted (E) 7%
Intuitive (N) 82% Sensing (S) 18%
Feeling (F) 85% Thinking (T) 15%
Perceiving (P) 73% Judging (J) 27%

To your question, we don't fit. James seems to be doing nicely though. Frank INFJ is somewhat better.

Tom, a poll would be nice, agreed. And as for what we're supposed to do... nothing.

Well knowledge is power, and understanding. And when we ticked someone or get ticked by them... We can unpiss ourself to a certain degree.

Also while I'm not a psychologist (as my course mate persistently suggest) I believe that we can know a little bit from someone for example from reading their post.

I guess correctly for Kakkarot, Enderwiggin and Inguma from their post and what they say about themselves (seems like INFP is all I can guess, you Idealist you!) and also TOM (INTP makes more suitable engineer or computer scientist).

Also why there are not more Extravert is that they don't bother with posting on message board as they have quite a life in the real life and won't post (or read, gasp!) unless they have a pressing reason to do so. [:D]

sweet_celestial_sounds,

I have used the tricks you mention succesfully in the past. It's like your tricking your subconcious fear of stuckedness for fear of falling from the bed. Not that gravity have any effect but your subconcious is one tricky horse to ride. I just think, what if I fall and I would pour from ny body liquid like to the floor. Interesting experience. I now know how it feel to be a liquid.

Now, where did my subconcious go?

Jelly stuff? Never seen one.

Brian: Thanks for clearing about energetic makeup. I'm going to practice the changing belief exercise at Bruce Moen website.

Ginny: Your retrieval experience are great read. I'm looking forward for more of them. :)

Frank: You're right. That also applies to the physical but to a somewhat lesser degree. The darkness that I see sometime is not total but it is like you much like you describe. I can see the outline or shadow of the object around me but cannot make out what they are. I'll try the brething technique.

I've read somewhere that you would  love to suffer from sleep paralysis? How could it help? How can it help projection? Is it to achieve 3D blackness? I ask this because I always have this from time to time. When I was younger and clueless about OBE they always spook me to no end. This sometime accompanied  by inner body experience (not always). Sometime my hand goes through the bed with strange sensation or my eyes giving strange camera shutter like view, not to mention the ringing and other OBE experience. This might also explain my recurring dream of falling into the sea from great height and deafening train.

Sigh..  if only i was wiser then.

Much has been covered but I guess I just give you my 2 cents.

There are no best style in the strictest sense but there are best style for you. And as you probably known everybody is different.
IMO JKD is great. It's fast, direct no nonsense fighting arts purely for combative and self defense purpose. It takes less time comparatively to learn from other martial arts such as taichi. Also not forget it also incorporates Wing Chun sticky hands which is very useful for any martial arts. Usually you can learn many type of martial arts by taking JKD. One can say it's a conglomerate of martial arts.

Jiu-jutsu is great ground fighting technique.

Silat is a not very well known fighting arts originating from Indonesia which is not very well known. It is a very intelligent and crafty arts incorporating many thing punch, lock, hold, escaping from locks etc. Good luck finding it though. Also ythere are many style in silat and believe me they are different from each other.

You might also want to find out about savate/boxe Frances.

Learning from books is good but only if you have some prior experince in martial arts. It is always a very great eye opener for most people in any martial arts.

Learning martial arts is one thing but when the moment come you will be very much reduced to intuitive response. Much martial artist (hints pop culture martial arts)are not very martially aware and it is a great shame to be beaten to pulp by a well experienced streetfighter. [B)]

I have many time experience this. Sometime it is just my leg. Sometime it is just my arms. Sometime both. The weirdest would be my whole body 90 degree in the air supported by my head.

I don't do anything when doing this. Just plain relaxation.

Also have anyone tries to see their astral arm in this condition? Mine seem like black/greyish transparent shadow...

Thank you all for your reply.

I do agree that it is important to have agood foundation for energy to flow freely. That's why practising pranayama without doing asana can sometime lead to shortcircuit. The body ain't strong enough to handle overload of energy.

But gathering energy is also important IMO. I also agree on not rushing your development and allowing the body to increase the capacity that it can mantain. The body does raise energy on its own though. Else how do we have energy to live.

Using a method for raising energy is more like an act of focusing and it is somewhat hard for those who are new to it as Kakkarot says. For those experienced it may be as second nature as breathing, they do it all the time without noticing. That's why I started this thread. Not to downplay other aspect of energy development but for us to share method on how we gather energy. I'm pretty new in this though.

I am doing NEW right now but still in the stage of working with tertiary and secondary energy center and not into energy raising yet. The sensation on my hand are very noticeable but my legs are not as noticeable as my hand yet but it is improving slowly but surely. Also I don't think it is dangerous at all to use the energy breathing method in the NEW eventhough you just started?

As James said  they are all good.
But you can't do them all. [:D]
That's why you must pick and choose to your heart content while not forgetting doing it. [8D]

I used to hear music in my near sleep too. Here I am, in my paralysis state and hearing the most beautiful piece of music that I never heard before in the darkness of the night. Of course at that time I don't know what the heck are happening. I feel that I can compose the most beautiful music only that I know nothing about music.

It doesn't occur much now but it sure beats most of the music on the radio station.

Also on http://www.astralvoyage.com there are article about receiving radio waves when projecting. It's about something relating to receiving radio broadcast on the astral complete with ad, commentaries etc.
