It'd be even better if you could programme that to play a subliminal message in the background.
I could stare at that for hours  :-)

Greetings,

Personally I found that any creative writing courses offered by colleges here (Dublin, Ireland) are short term evening or weekend courses. I dont think creative writing is something you can study for and get qualifications at, at least not here.

I think I know what Greenrat meant when he said creativity is something that shouldnt be taught. It is true that creativity comes from within and is nurtured rather than taught. However, and particularly with writing, there are basics which need to be learned if you wish to get published. There are exceptions to every rule of course but most writers who are successful will have learned these basics. These basics naturally enough, can and should be taught.

Greatoudoors' advise about joining a writers group is sound. If you're like me and face to face groups aren't your thing, then there are some good writers groups online also.

If you have a passion for writing I would say to first learn the basics (self taught or otherwise) and then just get stuck in. Enjoy it!

Regards,

Dave

P.S. Have we got and aspiring novel writers here?

Welcome to Magic! / Re: Fraternitas Hermetica

Hi Novice,

Ok, thanks for that. It just looked to me as if Rob meant the rift between RB and "this forum" was indeed 'this' forum, meaning Astral Pulse. My mistake  :-)

I know I've not been around here for a while but I do notice that RB specific forums no longer exist here and there is no mention of him on the Astral Pulse homepage. I notice also that www.astraldynamics.com no longer redirects to www.astralpulse.com. It seems that RB has used his original link to give rebirth to his internet community.

Admittedly my abscense here has made me ignorant. Im simply curious  :-)

Greetings,

What an interesting debate. It's a pity your post was a one-off heynonymous, some further discourse would be well recieved.

Quote from: Inguma on February 11, 2006, 08:19:20

and Nita left to follow RB when the rift occured between Bruce and this forum. More circumstantial than wise I think.

Rob, hi

Am I misinterpreting this or is RB no longer associated with astral pulse? If that is the case would you ( or somebody) please be willing/able to tell me what caused this?

Many thanks,

Dave

Greetings all,

I'm not really new here, but thought I'd post in Introductions seeing as how it's been about two years since my last post. Hi to everybody and kudos to Adrian and the mods for keeping the community hub going strong.

Looking forward to getting acquainted/re-acquainted with y'all. :-)

Greetings!

You might like to try this Inkblot Test to take a peek at your subconcious mind. It is (according to the website [;)])
quote:
the most thorough and scientific inkblot test available on the Web. Traditionally a closely guarded test administered only by trained psychologists and based on the original Rorschach test, this is the first and only inkblot test of its kind.
Tickle's Inkblot test is free, it's private, and it's developed by PhDs.

There are about ten or eleven inkblots to look at and a series of multi-choice questions follows each one. Check it out for yourself -  just for fun!
http://web.tickle.com/tests/inkblot/

This is the result I got [:D]

David, your subconscious mind is driven most by Peace

You are driven by a higher purpose than most people. You have a deeply-rooted desire to facilitate peacefulness in the world. Whether through subtle interactions with love ones, or through getting involved in social causes, it is important to you to influence the world.

You are driven by a desire to encourage others to think about the positive side of things instead of focusing on the negative. The reason your unconscious is consumed by this might stem from an innate fear of war and turmoil. Thus, to avoid that uncomfortable place for you, your unconscious seeks out the peace in your environment.

Usually, the thing that underlies this unconscious drive is a deep respect for humankind. You care about the future of the world, even beyond your own involvement in it. As a result, your personal integrity acts as a surrogate for your deeper drive toward peace and guides you in daily life towards decisions that are respectful toward yourself and others.

With best regards,

Dave

P.S. I just checked the link and it seems they are down but a message says it'll be up again in a few minutes.

Greetings,

This is not a review as such. I am wondering and would like to know if anyone here has read this play and if so what did you think of it?

Please don't confuse this with any of the other version/tales of Faust (or Faustus) which tell the story in a much different tone, basically reinforcing the R.C. Church's public opinion that magic is evil and the work of the devil.

I have yet to read Faust but have heard good things about it so in addition to a review I would really appreciate it if you could tell me what translation you read and what you found it's good/bad points to be.

I know this wont rank on many 'must-read' bibliographies (unless your really into literature) but it is based on occult topics and a little light reading is always nice to have. [:)]

Dave

Greetings,

This website contains downloadable pdf versions of over fifty Hermetic and Mystical books/texts. They include Franz Bardon's IIH, PME and KTQ, Konstantinos' "Summoning Spirits", George Lomer's "Seven Hermetic Letters", "The Corpus Hermeticum" and many more. Also available for download are Western grimoires including "The 6th and 7th books of Moses".

The pdf version of Franz Bardon's IIH (Initiation into Hermetics) differs from the Merkur Publishing copy that I own. I have scanned through it and it appears to be a different translation, poorer IMO, but on the whole pretty sound.

This is an extremely interesting article.

(Being a Tolkien fan I may be biased, but I don't think so)

The first paragraphs of the introduction...

Introduction

It seems a simple story.

At first glance it appears to be nothing more than a very long fairy tale about good and evil. Peopled with Elves, Dwarves, Wizards, Monsters and more, J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings was not considered a great work of literature when it first appeared in 1954. Now it is hailed as the book of the 20th century. What is it about this book that caused it to be such a sensation? Why does it create such a warmth and resonance in the hearts of its readers? Our answer to these and other questions to be discussed in the course of this article is that Tolkien was aware of the hidden esoteric history of humanity and the powerful influence of the Great Work of Alchemy on European culture.

Using Tolkien's splendid tale as a tool, this article will reveal that like the great masters of old, Tolkien is initiating us into a new level of awareness of our past, ourselves and the planet we inhabit. It will also reveal that Tolkien somehow knew the deepest secrets of Alchemy and embedded this mysterious knowledge into the heart of his work. This is the real reason why The Lord of the Rings has such a great and universal appeal, for it is our true history and secret heritage that is being revealed to us through its pages. Tolkien has mined a deep vein of mythic resonance that rings true to all who delve deeply into this extraordinary work of Art

Still learning how little I know [;)]

I'm currently in the process of reading Monroe's "Journeys Out Of Body" and much to my surprise am finding it to be quite an enjoyable read. That reminds me to be more aware of the difference between intuition and pre-judgment.

On page 55 Monroe makes passing mention of what he calls high order vibrations. To quote ;
"I lay down in the bedroom about three in the afternoon, went into a relaxation pattern, felt the warmth (high order vibrations), then thought heavily of the desire to go to R.W."

Ive not found mention of this again in the book ,allthough I have yet to finish it. I'm posting about it here because in my recent attempts at projection I have been experiencing what could easily be described as "the warmth". I use self hypnosis to relax, focus on my breathing and let it go from there. I have experienced various sensations whilst doing this ,including 3D Blackness on occasion. Recently and regularly though I have felt a powerfull warmth encompass my body particularly in the feet and hands. I had thought this to be unususal because of various references I have heard to the body becoming cold during AP. Now though I'm not so sure. I wonder if this has anything to do with the "high order vibrations" that Monroe makes reference to.

Any ideas?

Welcome to Astral Chat! / What Goes around...
June 12, 2003, 03:34:19
His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog. There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.

The next day a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy that Farmer Fleming had saved. "I want to repay you," said the nobleman, "You saved my son's life."

"No, I can't accept payment for what I did," The Scottish farmer replied, waving off the offer.

At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel. "Is that your son?" the nobleman asked. "Yes," the farmer replied proudly.
"I'll make you a deal. Let me take him and give him a good education. If the lad is anything like his father, he'll grow to a man you can be proud of." And that he did.

In time, Farmer Fleming's son graduated from St.Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillan.

Years afterward, the nobleman's son was stricken with pneumonia. What saved him? Penicillan. The name of this nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill. His son's name? Sir Winston Churchill.

Someone once said: What goes around comes around. Work like you dont need the money. Sing like nobody's listening. Dance like theres no-one watching, and love like you've never been hurt.

How Did You Live Your Dash?

I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on her tombstone; her life from beginning to end
                       (1934-1998)
He noted that first came her date of birth and spoke the ending date with tears,
but said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth...and
now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not how much we own;the cars...the house...the cash,
what matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard...are there things youd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left, that can still be rearranged
If we could just slow down enough to consider whats true and real, and allways try to understand the way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger, and show appreciation more, and love the people in our lives like weve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect, and more often wear a smile...
remembering that this special dash might only last a little while.
So, when your eulogy's being read, your life's actions to rehash...
would you be proud of what they'll say about how you spent your dash?

...but ive just been reading the stickies in this forum so my question has turned to a theory about projection. And from what I've read I dont think I'm the first to think this.

Basically the theory is this. The majority of us just try too hard. I've seen few posts of people decribing how this or that method really worked for them. Anyone I've personally talked to with experience in projecting has no method. They just lie down and project. It seems we are complicating a naturall process by over scrutinising(sp?) the hows and whys. Looking back on my own short history of projection attemps it seems that overall I got closer to projecting in the beggining, before I knew what I was doing. The one time I did project was not conscious, i became concious in the buffer zone known as RTZ. I know that we all hate to hear "just do it" but that really does seem to be the case.It would seem that people who project using certain methods are projecting in spite of these methods and not because of them.

One method worked well for me the first few times I used it ~ROPE. However, I believe it was the will and desire I poured into the efforts that produced the results. I suggest that all that is really neccessary for projection is will and belief. We must be passionate about our desire to project and our belief that we can and do project must be a conviction. If we can do this then it should be pretty easy to find our own way out.

As I've said I'm not very experienced with AP but i feel I may have found the reason why. Please feel free to dissagree if you think otherwise.

I would like to thank Frank (all the compliments you recieve are very well deserved) for cutting through the methodology and sharing with the rest of us.

Has your mind ever woken up before your body ,leaving you in the desired mind awake/body asleep state? Mine has, several times but i only realised what exactly was happening when it happened to me last night.Basically some time after falling asleep, my mind will awaken separate to the body. How do i know this? Well daft as it may seem, i awake to hear myself snoring. My body is still fast asleep.I lie there listening for a while and if i choose i can stop myself from snoring without awakening my body.I find this similar to several years ago when i would fall asleep in the sitting room and 'wake up' to hear other peoples voices.I didnt fully understand it at the time, but i knew i was asleep while concious of my surroundings.Next time this happens i must use the situation for a projection attempt.

I wasn't sure whether to put this post here or in 'The Healing Place' so here it is. I recently recieved a long distance set of three reiki attunements. I have had some success in healing but not enough to satisfy my need for proof that the attunements were fully successfull. There is one thing that i am not sure about as i have not tested it yet. Upon recieving the final attunement, i was told that i could give all three attunements to others. I would like to pass this on to someone who has an understanding of energy like yourselves in this forum. I am looking for someone willing to recieve the first reiki attunement. It will cost you nothing and if successfull i will give you the second and third attunement, also for free (I had to pay to receive these). If succesfull i will also pass on the notes that tell you how to give these attunements to others.I promise nothing as i have never done this before and am just looking to see proof that i can do it. If it doesn't work, oh well, no-body loses but if it does the volunteer will recieve a $50 worth set of attunements which enables him/her to heal him/herself and others.I do apologise but my personal concience dictates that the volunteer must be over 18. I don't mean to be ageist but i just wouldn't feel comfortable otherwise.

Reply to this or PM me.

Im sure the guy I payed for these attunements wouldnt be too happy about me giving them away for nothing but material gain ranks way down on my list of priorities.

I allways seem to have some sort of experience when i stay the night at my g/f's house.Usually i get close to AP ie: partially separated, or i get real-time sight before i go to sleep. This happened to me the other night.

I was lying still feeling the energy around me as i do most nights when my real-time vision came. Not nearly as clear as usuall but i was seeing through closed eyelids all the same. Suddenly what i can only describe as a black 'thing' about the size of a cat leapt across my field of 'vision' over my feet at the end of the bed. I knew instinctively that this was a spirit of some sort so i mentally called to it, trying to communicate. It was at this point that i felt what is best decribed as hundreds of needles pricking my skin all over my head and face. At first i was defensive but then i thought maybe this is a way of communication (and it didnt hurt too much) so i mentally called out again asking what the entity was and what was its purpose. This time there was no mistaking i was being attacked. The needle pain intensified and spread throughout my neck , back and chest.I immediately shielded and tried to block. This was having only a little effect so i began to thrash around in the bed with the pain. And then it stopped. Just like that. Before i opened my eyes though i saw what looked like a projectile of some sort bareley missing my head.

Strange, i know, but theres more. I made the assumption that whatever this was ,it was bugging me for a reason i did not yet know. I just got off the phone with my g/f though and she cant sleep because the tv keeps turning itself up in her room so obviously whatever it is, is not after me per se or is it.Maybe its just waiting for me to sleep there again.

Anyone have any thoughts on what happened?

Of late ive been having increasing amounts of deja-vu feelings, some of which i remember having dreamt about a long time ago.More peculiarly though is that i have started to constantly see what i call 'Residual Energy Signatures'.Anyone who has experience with psycadellic drugs will recognise these as 'tracers'.Everything that moves leaves (to my eyes anyway) a trace behind it.Even now, while typing, i can see the traces left behind by my fingers. Its actually quite beautifull to see and no, im not high, nor have i been for years now.Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar.

Hi all.
When i first came across ROPE i had had little success with OBE.I read the techniques along with Roberts Treaty on OBE.I was so exited i tried it out that very night and it was amazing! Within three minutes i was in trance and about two minutes later i was vibrating like crazy.I got too exxcited though and my racing heartbeat put me off. However two weeks later i had my first successfull real time projection using the ROPE method.

The problem is, the more i use ROPE, the less effective it is becoming.Has anyone else experienced this or is it just that my enthusiasm is waning?

During the 8 months that Mr Jackson was followed by a camera team he had his own camera team following Them. Monday night at 9:30pm on BBC (uk and ireland) he gives his own side of the story, including footage that was 'edited' by mr Bashir. I think everyone who was so quick to slate Jackson should take the time to listen to the OTHER side of the story. Then , by all means,  feel free to form ur own opinions.

Whilst i agree that music is a fundamental part of life and i do love it, i have to say it can be a pain in the asp sometimes. While meditating, trying to project, healing, etc etc occasionally a song will just pop into my head from no-where, even if i havent been listening to music at all that day.I then have to squeeze it out of my mind which i find much more difficult than killng ordinary thoughts.Am i alone or do any of you experience the same problem?

Hey everybody. There's a subject thats been on my mind constantly for days on end now and its really bugging me. I briefly mentioned it in my post called "Strange strange thing" and i will gladly elaborate if anyone wishes to hear more but i dont want to be merely another doomsday cryer which is why ill say no more here and now.

My question is this: Have any of you had prophetic dreams relating to the future of civilisation as we know it? or have you any theories on the immediate (5-10 years) future based on referenceable information.

Please tell anything at all that you think is relavant, no matter how far fetched it may seem.

Yours, as allways
