I actually meant to ask if it's "safer" to do yoga instead of exercises like cardio lol
But I feel a lot better after reading your responses!!

I have not yet experienced my first OBE...
I've been able to get to the point of relaxation where my mind is awake and aware but my body is asleep....
Wasn't easy for me because thoughts go all over the place lol but I got there...
I'm used to feeling body twitches at this point, usually after a certain body part twitches, then it will go completely numb so I just wait.
Last night was the first time I hadn't fallen asleep waiting for the twitches to stop, and the rushing sounds were getting quieter.
All of a sudden, my physical eyes snapped partially open. I slowly closed them again, but then it's snapped fully open.
It felt like a twitch like when my finger or my leg twitches.
But after 4 or 5 times of my eyes twitching open, I got extremely frustrated and broke my concentration.
I know people have said I sleep with my eyes open on occasion, sometimes even blinking.
Does anyone else have this problem? Or know how to overcome it?

I'm pretty brand new to the idea of astral projection, read a few books and theories, and have spoken to a few people.
But nothing compares to actually experiencing it!
Ever since  I started practicing, I've been (maybe overly) cautious about everything I do because I don't want it to affect my efforts.
So I figured I should ask all of you fine folk what precautions you may or may not take in your everyday lives. 
First off, has exercising (cardio, weight lifting, etc.) ever hindered your ability to project? Is yoga safe to do?
Also, I've read that some people stay away from eating meat... Has eating meat ever affected your astral traveling?
I read that iron may increase psychic energy .. Are there any vitamins (non-hallucinogenic drugs) or herb supplements that you have taken that affect your OBE's?
And I've also heard of the use of crystals... Does anyone use crystals/gemstones to induce or facilitate your astral projections?

Please, any advice/insight is greatly appreciated!!

Hi all!
I've only recently started researching about astral projection,
About a week ago, it came up in a casual conversation with a friend.
Next thing you know, I've read 4 books about it, watched dozens of YouTube videos, downloaded binaural beats, started meditating, etc.
So far, I've felt intense tingling all over my body and heated tingling in the middle of my forehead.
Sometimes , while the vibe is going, I'll feel a tug, kind of zipping through my chest, but I haven't separated yet.
What concerns me is that I haven't been in that sleep paralysis stage.
Like my body feels very heavy, melted into my bed, and barely there, but I'm still able to move around.
The other night, I felt the vibrations while meditating, but I had been meditatingI later than iI had planned and I was having trouble staying awake, so I got up and turned off my fan and when to go back to bed, tingling and all.
But even with the binaural beats off, lying on my stomach, and no focus on my mind but sleep, the vibrations continued and kept me awake for awhile longer, tossing and turning becauseI its hard to sleep when you feel like an electric toothbrush.
Does sleep paralysis just not happen for some people or am I not relaxed enough?

Also, the last 2 nights while meditating, I feel my physical body twitching sometimes.
At one point, my pelvic area twitched up, it was weird.
And I'll be completely relaxed but then my eyes will twitch open partially, like it just wants to snap awake.
Not sure if these are good signs or bad signs, I'd really appreciate any advice :3
