I was doing some online research on the link between Akhenaten and moses when i found this site:

http://www20.brinkster.com/theword/origins/home.html

I found it very interesting, but I would like to hear other peoples views on the content. To me a lot of it seemed fairly convincing.
My view on the bible is that it has evolved through time like a game of chinese whispers, and i am interested in finding its origins.

To add a vaguely related point, i read somewhere that the word 'religion' originally meant 'history'.

Am I right in thinking that barabus means 'son of the father' i.e. son of god?

I just read an article on H.P. Lovecraft in this months Fortean Times.

"To begin with, it's clear that Lovecraft himself had no belief whatsoever in the occult"

"In 1925, he wrote to his friend Clark Ashton Smith, saying: 'I am, indeed, an absolute materialist so far as actual belief goes;with not a shred of credence in any form of supernaturalism- religeon, spiritualism, transcentalism, metempsychosis, or immortality' "

He just took his ideas for his horror fiction from various occult books hat he read.

"In a letter written near the end of his life, he revealed that he found the language of esotericism 'flat, childish, pompous, and unconvincing', and expressed his belief that a writer could make up occult books just as terrifying as any that actually existed"

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Water Babies
May 06, 2004, 18:52:24
I would definately say that i am a bit of a water baby.

I was a competitive swimmer for about 12 years for a start.
I live on a small island and thus have done quite a lot of different water sports over the years, mostly on top of the water though.

I just got a job for when i finish University(a couple of months) writing software for SONAR devices[:)]should be fun.

im not a Pisces though - Gemini

This post sounds a bit too much like an introduction. oops[:P]

I don't know about having gills, staying above the water is good enough for me. It would rather have some resistance to the cold... its getts a bit chilly after a while

I am a 3rd Year Computer Science student and i have written a server-client 3D world application for my final year project. My client (which does the 3D graphics) is a very similar size to that program and it does more than just 3D graphics. (That demo is more impressive though).

I tried running the program with my network connection disabled, so it doesnt need to connect to the internet in order to run.

I guess the words at the end are the aliases that the programmers who wrote it use

I would be happy to quote some sources, but all my books are back home.(im a uni student and am not going home till june).

I'll see if i can find something on the web, if i can manage to find time.

4th dimensional sphere? I can't even begin to imagine that. Could be the cause of a future headache
#11
hmm Quantum Physics. Matter is energy, energy is matter.

Hang on Ybom. Everything in the universe can be descibed as sine waves (Fourier analysis)

Thanks for translating my post into plain english. I often seem to look back on my posts and say "what the hell was i on about?".

Since stories from the bible can be traced back to summerian times, with significant changes, you would have thought that people would have realised that the bible has been copied with a very large artistic license. How can anyone take it seriously without question?

What i see as a problem, is the fact that what we see as right or wrong depends on how we have been brought up.
What really is right or wrong?
#15
well i wish i had ended up on the dragonlanceplanet) Ansalon, but no such luck
#16
Im going to be silly now

1+1=2 well only if you are thinking decimal
1+1=10 if binary
1+1=11 if concatenation(+)
1+1=1 if boolean
#17
well i couldnt be bothered to read all of that, but doesnt it all just depend on your individual thoughts about the concept of hapiness. What makes you happy?
#18
sorry i meant probability, and not score
#19
I got a score of 451 and 605, and i was in the lounge watching tv during the experiment. hmm.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Proof

I saw that, but how far have the scientists really got into the subject? I would say nowhere.
It seems as though they are only studying this as a sideline. They know that their experiment is going to take years to get anywhere, but have set it up none the less to make it look like they are doing something.

I remember reading something (i think it was in scientific American) that decided that it was due to a lack of oxygen at a certain stage of development.
I find it hard to believe that it should occur normally as this would be against the survival of a species (unless it occurs as a method of controlling population, but how would that work?).
It doesn't bother me that this exists though, i would be interested in knowing why.
#22
The thing is, when i am fearless it is often because i just have decided not to think about what i am doing and just do it. Maybe it is the act of not thinking that is the catalyst.

The problem with proofs is that you have to prove in terms of something else which you already know to be true. Since there has been little scientific investigation into anything like this, that is a little hard.

looks like that would be very easy to fake. her image is too consistantly sharp. There are no parts of her that are more or less visible than others.
Its just 2 pictures taken with the same camera in the same position. one with the girl and one without, then superimposed.
