Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Where am I
April 25, 2004, 21:48:34
Sometimes towards morning when I finish dreaming I will enter a state that I'm not quite sure on what it is. There is almost a "cue" when I finish dreaming... sort of like my energy/astral? self says, "OK, I'm done playing, you can have your consciousness back."

Then I'm handed this and I suddenly become aware of what I think is my physical body. Everything feels "thick" to my energy body - like if you had swollen fingers than touched things. From this state I try to project or at least LD. I always get 'out' (though I think I'm already out, it's just a habit) but then I fade back to my body as I don't have enough energy. I then wake up... but that turns out to be a false awakening.

So I'm really confused as to what state I'm truly in. Is it my energy body dreaming of my energy body projecting? How can I maintain or raise energy? I try to yell, "clarity now!" but that doesn't usually work. Any ideas?

So what are things that dislodge your sense of "self"? That feeling on individuality... The Atman... the feeling of being seperate from everything else. You know, like when you feel a oneness with all creation or when you feel like you're observing your body or mind from afar.

So, what are things that dislodge that sense? There are thousands of things, or so I think. I'll start the list off.
------
Astral Projection
Lucid Dreaming
Tripping on Mushrooms
3D Blackness
Running until you enter a "trance"

Just the other night I had a false awakening (it's when you dream that you wake up and get out of bed, but in fact you're still dreaming) in which I tried to project. It's rather frustrating as I've been in a rut with these lately.

I believe that my consciousness has returned to my body and I'm going to project. Typically I can feel out my astral(energy?) body and I can rise out of my body a few feet before my energy runs out and I sink back to my body. At this time I don't have enough energy to even see, but I'll try to project yet! ;)  This results in me giving up then "returning" to my body. I'll "wake up" then realize I'm still dreaming then truly wake up.

Sorry if that is all confusing, but if anyone has had a false awakening you would know what I'm talking about. So, does anyone have any tips on turning a false awakening into a positive? ..specifically for OBE? Any advice?

Hi everyone,
Two nights ago my friend Brad took his own life by crashing into a bridge. He was the most amazing guy I've ever met - so full of vitality and life. He was and still is the inspiration on our cross country team even though he played football. He just had that strong of a work ethic coupled with the most humble demeanor.

I'm really going to miss him and I'd just like to ask you to help pray for him with me. Thanks

I'm a runner and as such my lower bones take a beating during the season. I can feel a weakness developing the middle of my fibias, and I want to stop it before it gets worse?

Any ideas?

So I assume some people from Australia here listen to Triple J. I know I enjoy it in the States! Did anyone hear the talk they had about paganism tonight? Or Tuesday morning down under.

I just got back from a festival that was pagan/Dead Head in nature and I really dug their message. I've also reseached the pagan history a little bit. Well, is anyone here pagan? I'd basically like to just open up a thread for a little pagan discussion. So come on in, it's cozy inside!

I've always assumed I dreamed in color, I mean, that is how I remembered them. But then I got to thinking... the only time I've ever noticed colors was after I woke up and recalled the dream. And every time I was "present" in "real-time" in my dreams I don't remember color.

Well, from all that thinking I finally had a dream in which I did see colors vividly! It was so amazing that it stopped the trend of the dream and I just obsessed over these colors. But, because (in the dream mind you) I didn't have a procedure done on my eyes I couldn't see the true art. Heh, anyway, does anyone remember the first time they vividly saw color?

I had a really amazing dream set last night. In one of the last dreams I was at a dance with this blonde I met. We were dancing and having a good time when I began to read her poetry. I had written this poetry impromptu somehow and now I was reading it to her. Well the lines were, IMO, amazing. As I read more and more, it got more intense and I got excited at their stunning nature. I became so absorbed in it that I wanted to remember all the lines when I awoke, so I went back and began to read it over. As I re-read the lines they changed. They were still good, but no matter how many times I re-read it, the lines would always change to something new.

It was frustrating, to say the least! I woke up with a word, a new word I've never heard before in my life: prevenient - Coming before; preceding. Expectant; anticipatory. As in her prevenient nature. Anyone have a similar experiance?

Hello,
An older friend of mine is a sherrif deputy and was telling me a story from his earlier days about an arrest he made. He went out to a grove on a tresspassing call and came upon a Native American. Eventually they found out that he had broken out of a mental institution.

But the Native said something very peculiar to my friend as he was taking him away. The Native said he was part of a "phaser unit.." and that he "didn't go through doors, ever". Does anyone know what he could be talking about?

Welcome to Metaphysics! / What is consciousness?
April 27, 2003, 22:37:56
This is a tricky thing to define for me. It's soooooo arbitrary. Doctors define it as the function of your cerebrum. Some define it as being aware. I prefer the defenition of being aware - from dreaming to waking.

But there are problems with defining it as simply 'being aware'. Like, where does consciousness come from? Awareness? If beings are lacking awareness, is their consciousness curbed? Like an animals or plants. Do they have awareness? Consciousness? Are they driven almost solely out of the need for survival?

Well, I'd just like to hear your thoughts on the subject.

Does anyone know of, or have any literature, on how our energy fluctuates as we approach and ultimately reach death? Which energy centers are more active, if any? Are new centers and paths of energy created as death occurs?

I'd really appreciate anything on the subject really. I'd love some references to Buddhic or other cultures. The reason I ask is I've been trying to pinpoint where exactly energy comes from. The universe, probably, but what in the universe? I believe it lies on a sub-atomic level and has something to do with the vibrations, electrons, or translational movement of atoms.

I think most people have heard of energy grids that lie all over the globe, but I don't know very much about them.

Have you guys heard of them? Supposedly the Coral Castle, link:http://www.coralcastle.com/home.asp, was built by manipulating these energy fields. Does anyone have any links or ideas on them?

Hey all, I just started doing yoga and I say, I do really enjoy it! Just the focus on awareness, balance, and breath while holding these positions is simply amazing. I think the best part is the total body workout it gives. It seems to offer more for a total body workout then running. I'd like to expand on this and incorporate some energy work with it.

The author hinted that various postions were good at bringing various thoughts and feelings to the surface. I felt like he was subtly talking about our chakras. Has anyone ever done energy work with yoga? Any heads-up or recommendations?

I'm sorry. I know I don't visit this board, and I'm ignorant of other people's requests because of that. But right now I need you guys.

My friend committed suicide this afternoon.... I've known her for a long time, and we sat next to each in Calc.We weren't close, but man we talked every day. She seemed so happy before she left for holiday break. She was in a bad position, but happy with her outlook and her boyfriend. I don't know.

Please pray for her transition into what awaits, or has met her. I'm sorry. Please offer prayers to Monica.

Hi all,

Today my friend brought up a simple, yet provacative question, that I could not answer. He asked me about energy and sleeping. Specifically, what is the point of sleeping? To recharge it seems. But how? and why? I understand how the body burns energy with ATP and such, but I couldn't pin down what sleep does specifically to restore and energize us. Anyone with some biological knowledge?....

And then to the second part of my question. What do our chakras do when we sleep. I'd imagine they sort of ground out and fill up as we float amiss in the astral. Do you think it would be possible to stay up for extraneous amounts of time by "running off your chakras"?

Thanks!

Hey all,

I think I'm going to start doing some energy work. Working on opening up my pathways and chakras and such. You guys seem better for having doing so and I'd like to do it to help me with health and healing.

So I'm curious, how did you guys start? I'm going to start Astral Dynamics here and read up on the NEW energy ways. Any suggestions or references to other work or ideas?

Thanks all,

Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / Confirmation Advice
September 05, 2002, 21:13:08

Hi guys,
I'm in a really big dilema here, but I've already formed my plan - it seems. I just have to get this off my chest and get some reactions from you guys.

I'm 16 and live in the United States. I was born and raised a Catholic. Three years ago I had my faith shaken and on an almost seemingly too perfect and random thought the Buddha came into my head. I delved into Buddhism. I've read many books, had many thoughtful discussions. I've met online friends and through them I learned about astral projection, and hence Robert Bruce and this site. I've somewhat adopted the idea that I wouldn't jump onto a certain religion into I felt like I knew more about the religions and ideas of the world. I formed that about a year ago. Well, I still have many core beliefs that are obviously influenced by Buddhism. There are a few clinging Catholic traditions and I still do respect the authority of the Mother Church. Sounds odd, huh? But I used to be deep into Catholisicm.

So now my time to become confirmed is coming up. I've hinted at my mom that I don't really want nor do I feel I'm ready to be confirmed yet. She is a very firm believer in Christ and the Mother Church. I can feel her pain when I tell her that I don't want to be confirmed. She and I are fairly close and it really pains me to see this. But another issue is my grandmother. She is a very strict old-school Catholic. She deeply hurt and irate when my older brother decided not to become confirmed - mainly for drug reasons.

Our confirmation teacher firmly believes in not confirming those who do not want to. However, I am rather torn. I just don't know. I haven't offically renounced Jesus in my studies, but I have made many foolish comments regarding Christianity in years back. I don't know. Am I the person to comply with my mothers' wishes and do something I don't believe in out of love? Or am I going to stand up for my belief in being open to religions? My obligations to myself, the Buddha, the Mother Church? Again, torn between what I want to do and what I feel like I should do.

Man, I don't know. Feel free to comment on whatever.

Hi all, I don't post here very often, but I do read some posts here every so often. I have a quesiton for you guys. Have you ever tried Dreamwalking? How does it work? A friend and I would love to do a shared dreaming experiance and I think this is the way to go.

Any links, advice, stories would be grand.

Thanks,

I've never heard of anyone hallucinating from pot. I'd think you'd be a vegetable before you could see things. Now, granted, I've heard stories and I myself have seen things in the sky.... but I feel it was more from my brain rather than from pot. Mushrooms are a different story though....

Also, in my experience pot is a downer for dreaming. It doesn't improve my perception. It enhances my love of life, but it's not nearly as effective or long-lasting as true love and meditation!!

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Where am I

Alright, I'll focus on one thing. I like the idea of focusing on my heartbeat. That will center me and channel any desire I have to recognize the physical into awareness of my heart. From there, hopefully I can transition into projection.

I had one forced projection in which I was literally seized and tortured... not a good time. I've had a few close attempts of projecting into the physical (is that RTZ or etheric?). After vibrations I'll try to fly out of my body. Usually I go flying out of my body through my room, then hit the wall and collapse, blanking out and finally returning to my body.

I'm trying to project. I've made it out before, but I always end up in the etheric.

When I wake up (false awakening, though) I don't move. I do think, "Oh man! Failed attempt!" Then I will truly wake up, and yes I do move right away...
Those are two points to work on - staying positive and not moving right away.

You mentioned that maybe my, "awareness is not quite aware enough to project" - What do you mean exactly and how can I work on improving or increasing it?

Thanks a lot moonbeam!

Welcome to Dreams! / Predicting the future?
April 05, 2004, 16:27:05
That very well could be!

However, it is important to keep open to other possibilities. I would like to suggest something.

Perhaps you kept on having this recurring dream because there was something that you needed to tell your gran or she needed to tell you. Perhaps she was gradually fading away because no one (including yourself) was paying attention to her? She kept on doing what she was doing, even when someone was "locked" in a room with her.

Just a possible take... my two cents.

This is amazing. Thank you so much mods and Adrian!

I can finally go back to reading the energy forum posts without the childish bantering about television shows that was ever so present.

Hey, does anyone know if Tom or Frank is ever coming back?

I've found dream journals to be the most effective for me. When I wake up after a dream I want recorded I immediately go to my dresser (usually fall towards) and pull out my dream journal and just begin writing automatically from an early point in the dream I remember. Typically, I will remember earlier things as I write; often, whole other dreams that precede that one.

Dream journals are great! I could recite to you an amazing dream I've had from memory, but often times I find that my interpretation doesn't exactly match what I wrote in my journal. Journals also offer a state of mind. When I re-read them I can feel the substance of the dream. Woah, sorry I rambled there. Also, repeating a desire to remember dreams before nighttime usually helps.
#25
I think they may be an extension of your mind. That's just my interpretation on this. However, even if they are outside your mind I'd recommend just doing some simple purification actions before hand. Burn some sacred incense or recite some holy lines. If you do find a high degree of lucidity some night maybe experiment and ask them who they are and what are they seeking?
