Science is both of these things, it is a helpful tool, but only to a degree, it can only help us discover what we can in the 3 dimensional planes, however the structure of science itself, does not allow any discovery above and beyond our 3rd dimensional perspective, and when an "discovery" is brought to the table, it almost does not "compute" with the logical equation, therefore it is tossed out as a pseudo science, there lies the fallacy in the systems of logic and science.
In order to use science to our advantage we have to understand that though it is very helpful for the understanding our 3 dimensional plane, it doesn't fully embrace the knowledge to be learned about anything of a higher caliber.
